>>135603 >>135617 >>135618 Doesn't that also create the irony that, if you want to play the original MGS with the correct script, you options are to either import Integral or play Twin Snakes?
>>135619 I mean no, integral came out after the western release so it probably has unnecessary changes as well and Twin Snakes I haven't played but they allegedly butchered the cutscenes.
>>135619 I actually played twin snakes first. After playing 2 and 3
>>135614 >redtext spam No, I'm not whoever you're talking about. Either reply to the topic at hand or don't reply. I never said any of that. >>135616 That's the guy who reports everyone for being niggerpill (for the reason you stated).

>>135620 >I mean no, integral came out after the western release so it probably has unnecessary changes as well Looking it up, you're correct. Integral (With the PC version is a port of) includes all the changes made to the Western release, with the exception that it also an exclusive commentary file from the dev team and the VR missions included on a seperate disc. So, I stand corrected, the only way to experience Metal Gear Solid as it was intended is to play the original release, or Twin Snakes (Either way, you need to shell out money to by VR missions seperately, if you want the complete package).
A Admits Battlefield 2042 Failed To Meet Player Expectations, Blames Halo Infinite and COVID >EA has said that a report about an internal discussion regarding Battlefield 2041, which apparently cited Halo Infinite and COVID as contributing reasons for the game's failings, did not correctly reflect the tone of the meeting. In a statement to PC Gamer, EA's communications VP, John Reseburg, said >These stories are not accurately capturing the discussion and the context, which was an in-depth and very humble internal conversation about the recent Battlefield launch. It was about key learnings and actions we are taking, not blaming external factors." >Original story: EA has reportedly admitted that Battlefield 2042 "failed to meet the expectations of our players" in an internal meeting, and blamed the failure of the game on factors such as Halo Infinite's launch and the ongoing COVID pandemic. >According to a report by Xfire, EA held an internal company-wide meeting to discuss Battlefield 2042, where executives spent over 20 minutes examining what went wrong with the game's launch. Chief Studios Officer Laura Miele reportedly emphasized that it's important to acknowledge when the company has its misses, including Battlefield 2042. >One of the factors that Miele apparently mentioned was responsible for Battlefield 2042's problems is the Frostbite Engine, which had to go under a massive update. This update reportedly sucked up 18 months of development time. "All new tech, it was basically a new engine," the report quotes her as saying. >They went back. The Frostbite version they were on was so old they had to go back and update. So it was basically putting the game on a new engine." >Miele also apparently spoke about the work-from-home environment as a result of COVID-19 that impacted the development cycle midway through. She reportedly said "Add up all of this new innovation, all of this ambition for the new project, and then you add a global pandemic halfway into the project, where the game teams had to work from home, we ended up with more new variables in development than we have ever experienced before." >After the Battlefield beta last summer, players provided feedback on bugs and other areas of the game. While early impressions were positive, later mock reviews prior to launch revealed that the game had more bugs than expected. >However, the report says Miele claimed the surprise launch of Halo Infinite's multiplayer was a turning point, which came a mere four days earlier than Battlefield 2042's release on November 19. Compared to Halo Infinite, Battlefield 2042 wasn't as "polished", so EA reportedly believes players had a more favorable view of the former. >The Xfire report also states that Miele explained that player expectations have changed and it wasn't the right choice to retain the company's previous standards. Miele apparently admitted that EA didn't go wide enough with different player segments and didn't go deep enough with the game. The lack of features such as scoreboards and VOIP systems didn't help either. >At the end of the call, it was reportedly mentioned that Battlefield's development teams will be restructured and more streamlined. >The news surrounding Battlefield 2042 hasn't been great. EA already expressed that the game didn't meet their expectations, and both its scoreboard system and season one content have been delayed. Even players have signed a petition to get refunds. https://archive.ph/DF6Rj Reminder EA shut down Visceral Games for doing better numbers than battlefield 2042. Battlefield hardline is battlefield call of duty ghosts. Hatred at launch yet looked better compared to newer installments. Ubisoft Confident It Can Remain Independent Amidst Industry Acquisitions >If you’ve been paying attention to the video game industry as of late, you likely already know that 2022 has so far been defined by one word: acquisitions. >It started with Take-Two Interactive, the parent company behind the Grand Theft Auto series, announcing back in January that it was acquiring mobile giant Zynga for nearly $13 billion. Then, a week later, Microsoft announced that it was acquiring Activision Blizzard, the company behind Overwatch and Call of Duty, for a colossal $68.7 billion, and then two weeks later, Sony revealed it was buying Bungie, the developer behind Destiny 2, for $3.6 billion. >Amidst all of this, analysts and fans alike have speculated about other possible acquisitions that might happen and names like EA and Ubisoft were at the center of those discussions. However, Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot, who is navigating company-wide accusations of workplace misconduct and more, said in a quarterly earnings call yesterday that the company is confident it can remain independent. >We have always taken our decisions in the interest of our stakeholders, which are our players, employees, and shareholders,” Guillemot said, as reported by Eurogamer. “So Ubisoft can remain independent. We have the talent, the industrial and financial scale, and a large portfolio of powerful IP.” >Guillemot doesn’t rule out the possibility of Ubisoft being acquired by another company, though. Having said that, if there were an offer to buy us, the board of directors would of course review it in the interest of all stakeholders,” he said. >Similar to Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard and what’s to come of that, any company that theoretically acquires Ubisoft would be taking on a mountain of employee exoduses, workplace misconduct accusations, and more. >For more on that, check out this December report about an ongoing exodus of employees happening within Ubisoft. This report comes after a summer where employees were left unhappy with Ubisoft management and its handling of internal scandals. Back in July, a new report revealed that many Ubisoft employees were unhappy with how leadership handled “Me Too” and in October of 2020, a report revealed that 25 percent of Ubisoft employees experienced or witnessed workplace misconduct. https://archive.ph/wlIjm

Local bald man is shouting about Gamergate again. >Critical Theory Collapse Can Be Traced Back To Gamergate, Cultural Marxism Became Obvious Then Reading all the various takes on what GG was about, what caused it, and what it did in the comments is somewhat interesting though.
>>135624 >first article How is working from home a problem, you just screenshare and divide your slack into departments, divisions, and teams. If you aren't a bad manager you'd divide meeting times between those into 1%, 9%, 90% of your team's time in calls, which should really be under 2 hours a day and ideally under half an hour, not counting active collaboration between individual team members. The only way working from home is bad is if your management is bad or if your employees are bad, which in modern AAA companies is both. If the engine also takes so long to rework, you're better off scrapping it than inducing even more sunk cost, or just using it as is.

>>135627 They could also just let him walk to convince more competent programmers that hacking won't get you caught, to bait them into hacking something and force-recruiting them.
>>135625 >the very concept of "cultural war" was created by GG Better update the list.

>>135624 >Miele also apparently spoke about the work-from-home environment as a result of COVID-19 that impacted the development cycle midway through. She reportedly said "Add up all of this new innovation, all of this ambition for the new project, and then you add a global pandemic halfway into the project, where the game teams had to work from home, we ended up with more new variables in development than we have ever experienced before." Something funny about this part is that it WASN'T the "work from home" part that hampered development. What "caused" the issues is that the overwhelming majority of the dev team were making the entire game on toasters, nor had a a PissPour nor an Xbone in the house.
>>135624 >Blames Halo Infinite and COVID Seems about right, its always someone else's fault no personal responsibility. Nevermind Halo came a month later or that covid hasnt effected other game sales.
>>135626 >How is working from home a problem <Have only one computer in the entire house for a family of two or more, all of whom also need it <Computer in question is a toaster from 2014 or earlier <The only game console they probably have is a Wii or a Switch Yeah, I can see where the problems arrise.

Not to mention their game won't sell, so its all wasted effort anyway.

But, that does bring forward the question of why didn't the devs borrow the computers and/or systems from the office. > or just buy a few for $20k and have team members perform actions on them for everyone else > a few for $20k That's another $100k down the drain. > Living in a sanfran shitshack DICE is located in Sweden. Also, you ignoring the important fact that the games don't need to be as demanding as they are. MAG in the PS3 managed to have online multiplayer ranging from 64 players all the way up to 256 players all on the same map: https://www.mobygames.com/game/ps3/mag__ And, the fact that companies struggle to do a fraction that over a decade later should give you perspective on what the problem is.

>>135641 Yes, I would lewd Nemo
>>135643 Of course, I simply outlined the technical problems at the most extreme price point, but that's only two or three peoples salaries to make the entire company technically capable of being productive. What they likely do now is take turns going in the office, spending hundreds of dollars per person on PCR tests of course, and spending hours in meetings on a chromebook, macbook, or iphone. I'm not even saying they should compromise their (bad) creative vision to make some low poly mmo shooter, just that you can bring the office to all your employees homes for under $2k each (far less if you bring their desk computer home), and as long as they have the space and integrity to keep working, it would be better than losing half your productivity. It's just excuses for the company structure's failures catching up to them.
>>135643 > why didn't the devs borrow the computers and/or systems from the office. Legal reasons, corporate security, intellectual property, etc. The point is that "work from home" causes zero work and nothing has actually happened in Silicon Valley for over two years, and they're fine with that because only whites were working beforehand anyway.
