The cutscenes in Forces actually look pretty good. I never liked how they looked in Generations.

I think it has some pacing problems, and there's so many things that could have been expanded much more, but besides that it was a fun experience, and I'm glad I went to see it on the theater.

Played Sunset Heights yesterday, it brought me back to when we first saw this stage in SXSW years ago. It was kinda sad, that point was when I finally accepted that Forces was not going to deliver. Between the speed and how much is going on the screen the webm comes out awful and eats through the whole filesize, lol. Sonic's air control is so weird in this game, Modern controls way too loosely and Classic is too unpredictable because of the opposite basically, he stops too fast so you can't calculate well where he's going to land. Similar experience to what someone else had recently I think. >>19760 On the other hand, these micro cutscenes that last only a handful of seconds and sometimes cut out to a completely different locations or continue in the chat screen are annoying and feel cheap as hell.

>>19778 very impressive for a fan game. It's good to see people putting actual full levels out instead of just engines with one single test environment. And they even did cutscenes with voice acting. It's a lot of effort Still, that camera needs a lot of work. And there are a lot of sections where Sonic's movement just looks awkward like when he's running on walls or making turns while running without boosting. It's still a really great start though. I hope it continues to get polished
>>19779 Yeah. Personally I'd put some of the mess-ups down to the Sonic Infinity Engine being unfinished but I'll give credit to the guy for working around some of the problems. Between this, Sonic Islands & that Sonic Adventure Chronicles fangame, there's some real cool stuff coming down the pipeline for 3D Sonic fangames.

>>19778 I'm always happy to see fangames pop up and it seems like a lot of work went into this one but the intro though impressive feels like it's missing a bit of quality assurance and the level seems to be designed in a way that's makes it impossible to keep your motion which doesn't look very fun. Also the camera doesn't look very good.
>>19778 Gameplay looks decent enough, and the amount of work that went into it is obviously impressive, but a lot of the level design from the second act looks very much like it's going for big without thinking about how it plays. There's a lot of big empty spaces of nothing except a trail of rings you're seemingly expected to light dash to speed through the big nothing. It also lacks a lot of player direction, and I had a hard time seeing where exactly the player was expected to go.

Yeah like I said, it's baffling how when he moves through the air in 2D it somehow is both better than classic Sonic but also too loose for those small platforms in 2D sections. Plus something else I found out while playing this, if you let go of your analog stick he stops on a dime… But if you direct his movement it carries? It's fucking offputing. Forces biggest issue for me is not the tone, it's the gameplay, how it just feels like it's a hodgepodge of ever type of Sonic gameplay in all of his eras fighting for dominance at the same time.
