Okay, so you're retarded then. EA's big contribution to the market was going in wholesale on microtransactions in response to the 2008 economic crash. Microsoft had
BEEN involved with video games since almost the beginning of DOS, or do you not remember the
Doom ads with Bill Gates? Sega crashed because you had in-fighting between the Eastern and Western branches over who was daddy's favorite, meanwhile their arcade business was running at a deficit. And, Nintendo wholeheartedly thought that they were #1, until they weren't, and then resigned to doing their own thing.
As for EA, they were just a bunch of hobbyists who got greedy, but they certainly weren't the first company blinded by profits.
THAT honor goes to Atari. After they allowed WB to buy the company, there was a drastic shift in tone when it came to production. Gone was any concept of innovation that Atari had been developing because WB didn't want anything to cannibalize their cash cow that was the 2600. However, once the market finally said that they had enough and stopped buying games, it all came crashing down.
There's a reason why Atari was in films like
Soylent Green,
Blade Runner, and
Cloak And Daggar. Because, at the time, it was thought that the company would be around forever.
