It's a little overdone stylistically and it's massively over hyped, honestly. Its certainly been beaten to death by every feminist author or student out there. Like, literally it feels like every other junior chick in undergrad has either read the book or written a term paper on it. It's all just so trite and uninspired at this point.
It's also not a very good representation of the average pedophile if we're being upfront. Presumably, most pedophiles are just average people, men usually, who are just trying to live their lives and pay their bills and pay taxes... and not get murdered or fired over existing.
We're not galavanting around New England trying to bang every tween out there. We're certainly not entering into these kind of forced lavender relationships with mothers on the tenuous hope that we can have some underground clandestine relationship with her daughters. Don't get me wrong, some do all that but most don't.
Most of all, it's just really negative representation for our people. We want more positivity around here—we're at the very least, not something so dark and negative and grave. Show me a film or a book that doesn't starkly paint pedophiles as these would be monsters or tortured souls who are struggling to control themselves. Show me a film where you have a dude with normal relationships who's just living his life the best he can and is a normal guy. That's the film I wanna see.
That's the breath of fresh air we all desperately need at this point.
