Posting picture of Hana because I love posting pictures of her.
I am a classical vocalist; I sing opera and song. From my perspective, while waifuism may be new, the feelings behind them are ancient. That is, the desire for someone you can never have. From knights in love with princesses who could never be with them to Dante and Beatrice, we share these feelings with artists and poets throughout the centuries. Hana is especially precious to me when I perform, as I use my feelings to connect with those of the composer who lived so long ago. Perhaps you might not find the same meaning in these songs as I do; I tend to find my Hana in everything around me. I'll post a few of them here along with translations. Arguably, a great deal of Schubert's mature work can be interpreted as a cry of grief upon understanding that you cannot be united with the one you love; however, I'm not going to just post 70s songs.

I bear my love
In silent bliss
About with me
In heart and mind.
Yes, that I have found you,
Sweet child,
Will cheer me all
My allotted days.
Though the sky be dim,
And the night pitch-black,
My love shines brightly
In golden splendour.
And though the world lies and sins,
And it hurts to see it so—
The bad world must be blinded
By your snowy innocence.

This portrait is enchantingly beautiful,
such as no eye has ever yet seen.
I feel the way this divine image
fills my heart with new emotion.
Though I cannot name what this is,
yet I feel it burning here like fire.
Might this sensation be love?
Yes, yes! It can only be love!
Oh, if only I could find her!
Oh, if she but stood before me now!
I should ... should ... warmly and virtuously ...
What should I do? ... Rapturously I should
press her to this ardent breast,
and then she would be mine for ever.

The dawn divides the darkness from light,
And my sensual pleasure from my desire,
O sweet stars, it is the hour of death.
[Expand Post] A love more holy clears you from the skies.
Gleaming eyes, O you who'll ne'er return,
Sad stars, snuff out your uncorrupted light!
I must die, I do not want to see the day,
For love of my own dream and of the night.
Envelop me,
O Night, in your maternal breast,
While the pale earth bathes itself in dew;
But let the dawn rise from my blood
And from my brief dream the eternal sun!

Yes, dear soul, you know
That I’m in torment far from you,
Love makes hearts sick –
I thank you.
Once, revelling in freedom,
I held the amethyst cup aloft
And you blessed that draught –
I thank you
And you banished the evil spirits,
Till I, as never before,
Holy, sank holy upon your heart –
I thank you.

God! what darkness this! What terrifying silence!
I'm living in a desert. Death only reigns down here.
How hard my trials! -
But just is the Lord's will!
I don't complain! You suffered even more!
In the spring days of my life
Happiness deserted me!
Truth I dared to utter boldly
And the chains are my reward.
Willingly I bear my tortures,
Ending in shame my life;
To my heart this is sweet solace:
My duty I have always done!
And do I not feel soft whispering air?
What brightness shines into my grave?
I see how an angel fragrant like a rose
Comforting stands by my side,
An angel, Leonora, my wife so alike
To lead met to freedom, to the kingdom of God.

If only I were that warrior!
If only my dream might come true!
An army of brave men with me as their leader
And victory and the applause of all Memphis!
And to you, my sweet Aida,
To return crowned with laurels,
To tell you: for you, I have fought,
For you, I have conquered!
Heavenly Aida, divine form,
Mystical garland of light and flowers,
You are queen of my thoughts,
You are the splendor of my life.
I want to give you back your beautiful sky,
The sweet breezes of your native land,
To place a royal garland on your hair,
To raise you a throne next to the sun.
