Waifuism music thread Anonymous 11/09/2020 (Mon) 21:15:59 No. 70372
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgL-Pvuklcc Can we have a thread about songs that are or can be interpreted as for waifuists? If we have enough music we can even make a chart, a waifucore chart. Camel - Lady Fantasy ''Listen very carefully, my words are about to unfold Concerning a lady I've seen but I never could hold''
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qj8NLH_i7NI Hatsune Miku - "惨事のハニー(My Honey in the Tragic Dimension)" This song is literally about waifuism.
>>70373 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>>70484 Boy I'm glad I bought a good microphone for my own video…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0F9lh8TiSM That Gladys Knight and the Pips song about how she'd rather live in his world with him than live in her own world alone.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-hHb3-8Xsk Love it. It's like having a waifu/husbando is a rebellion against conventional sexual dynamics. However if taken too far makes you question your sanity.
all music i think can be about waifu. a lost loved one, confession of love, affirmation of love, song about doing stuff together... it all applies. waifu's someone you love. but i understand. you mean music about someone you can't have. personally, i feel a lot with music about breakup or "pre-breakup". dwindling relationships and such. loneliness also fits into music that i relate with waifuism. the following aren't stritcly waifuism related songs, but i think they get a similar feel sometimes. this list is not intended to be seen as sorted. I Hope She Loves Me Back by Boy Pablo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JzM9iwoptk it's a bit... you know, mainstream sounding, and the YouTube comments seems mostly female. i think it's got a nice psychedelic feel at the chorus. >Wonder if this is just a question of time >I'm here, waiting for a sign >Want her to be by my side >But what if she finds out I'm a loser >No, I don't wanna lose her to someone else >I hope she loves me seems to highlight the futility of expecting for and meeting waifu. Dance Party by Better Than This https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBENUsy_ff8 "coming of age" punk pop/rock. >I'm sitting here in my room >Wishing it was yours >Imagining all the things we'd do >I wanna go with you to a dance party the lyrics aren't entirely about someone the singer can't be with, so it doesn't fit fully, but this section may be of :) to someone. Memento Mori by Red Vox https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkDQGum7_i4 gentle intro jumps into fast chill with bright, hopeful sections. >Near or far, no matter how close you are >Hopelessly united in entropy >Could it be, the presence of memory >Is all we are, and all that we'll ever be? i'm not too sure what this song means, but this section is very waifu sounding. the next verse also has >And then I tell myself it's just so far away >Back to the old routine that fills my every day which sounds like the singer is giving up on waifu Beach Whatever by Surf Curses https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vyxf0JtoprA surf rock/punk rock. >I saw her walking on the beach >And I knew you were what I need >And I swam all that I could >In the sand falling for you these lyrics demonstrate longing for someone nicely.
[Expand Post]Only In Dreams by Weezer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ha3QivnjbIU soft verses with hard chorus. self-explanatory. a girl that occupies the listener's mind but can be seen only in dreams. All I Have To Do Is Dream by the Everly Brothers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbU3zdAgiX8 doo-wop with a "longing" feel. i'm just a sucker for the Dandy Warhols cover, it has a chill and goofy sound. song is also self-explanatory. singer has a lover that is only accessibly by dreaming. i'm sure many waifufags could relate. Mr. Sandman by The Chordettes/The Four Aces https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXkuTZmfMoA hopeful doo-wop. i personally prefer the Oranger cover. this one isn't about waifu as much as wanting "Mr. Sandman" to create a perfect anybody to come to them, so it's different from wanting the "perfect somebody" (waifu), but i think it's comfy. Then The Morning Comes by Smash Mouth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UguMu-jib6g sassy ska/pop. another song about a girl only found in dreams. this one is very "pop" sounding so i'm embarrassed to post it, but whenever i read someone say "good morning", i have been conditioned into hearing the first few seconds of this. Be My Baby by The Ronettes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSPpbOGnFgk covered by Billy Cobb https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNMijMrdeaY more hopeful doo-wop. i honestly prefer more modern covers of this... mostly for the male singer. regardless, this is about the singer wanting a love interest to enter a relationship with the singer. Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me by The Smiths https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__PblMAprcA slow start with strong intro in the middle and a "hopeless" sound. self-explanatory. the singer recollects about someone loving him in a dream. Sh-Boom (Life Could Be A Dream) by The Chords https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBgQezOF8kY hopeful doo-wop. the singer verbally speculates about what life would be like if he was with his love interest. lot of dream songs, eh? sorry about that, but... waifu is a dream, i think.
>>70644 oh also Across The Sea by Weezer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rl089HxOPkw[Embed] rock that progresses like a nice story. the lyrics aren't exactly perfectly fitting for waifu (i don't think anyone here can relate to "You heard me on the radio about one year ago and you wanted to know / All about me and my hobbies ..."). however, besides those parts, it's almost like a waifu song about the singer making do with being distant from waifu. the lyrics are admittedly a bit gross, for me, though.

Posting picture of Hana because I love posting pictures of her. I am a classical vocalist; I sing opera and song. From my perspective, while waifuism may be new, the feelings behind them are ancient. That is, the desire for someone you can never have. From knights in love with princesses who could never be with them to Dante and Beatrice, we share these feelings with artists and poets throughout the centuries. Hana is especially precious to me when I perform, as I use my feelings to connect with those of the composer who lived so long ago. Perhaps you might not find the same meaning in these songs as I do; I tend to find my Hana in everything around me. I'll post a few of them here along with translations. Arguably, a great deal of Schubert's mature work can be interpreted as a cry of grief upon understanding that you cannot be united with the one you love; however, I'm not going to just post 70s songs. "Ich trage meine Minne" by Richard Strauss https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Esr9YQ1UFDM I bear my love In silent bliss About with me In heart and mind. Yes, that I have found you, Sweet child, Will cheer me all My allotted days. Though the sky be dim, And the night pitch-black, My love shines brightly In golden splendour. And though the world lies and sins, And it hurts to see it so— The bad world must be blinded By your snowy innocence. "Dies Bildnis ist bezaubernd schön" by Mozart https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=px0H0rD2L2E This portrait is enchantingly beautiful, such as no eye has ever yet seen. I feel the way this divine image fills my heart with new emotion. Though I cannot name what this is, yet I feel it burning here like fire. Might this sensation be love? Yes, yes! It can only be love! Oh, if only I could find her! Oh, if she but stood before me now! I should ... should ... warmly and virtuously ... What should I do? ... Rapturously I should press her to this ardent breast, and then she would be mine for ever. "L'alba separa dalla luce l'ombra" by Tosti https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsTPI0JOtbI The dawn divides the darkness from light, And my sensual pleasure from my desire, O sweet stars, it is the hour of death.
[Expand Post]A love more holy clears you from the skies. Gleaming eyes, O you who'll ne'er return, Sad stars, snuff out your uncorrupted light! I must die, I do not want to see the day, For love of my own dream and of the night. Envelop me, O Night, in your maternal breast, While the pale earth bathes itself in dew; But let the dawn rise from my blood And from my brief dream the eternal sun! "Zueignug" by Richard Strauss https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0Ena8MCrJs Yes, dear soul, you know That I’m in torment far from you, Love makes hearts sick – I thank you. Once, revelling in freedom, I held the amethyst cup aloft And you blessed that draught – I thank you And you banished the evil spirits, Till I, as never before, Holy, sank holy upon your heart – I thank you. "Gott! Welch' dunkel hier/In des Lebens Frühlingstage" by Beethoven https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1QqZbkgeag God! what darkness this! What terrifying silence! I'm living in a desert. Death only reigns down here. How hard my trials! - But just is the Lord's will! I don't complain! You suffered even more! In the spring days of my life Happiness deserted me! Truth I dared to utter boldly And the chains are my reward. Willingly I bear my tortures, Ending in shame my life; To my heart this is sweet solace: My duty I have always done! And do I not feel soft whispering air? What brightness shines into my grave? I see how an angel fragrant like a rose Comforting stands by my side, An angel, Leonora, my wife so alike To lead met to freedom, to the kingdom of God. "Celeste Aïda" by Verdi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqbyHjBsvdw If only I were that warrior! If only my dream might come true! An army of brave men with me as their leader And victory and the applause of all Memphis! And to you, my sweet Aida, To return crowned with laurels, To tell you: for you, I have fought, For you, I have conquered! Heavenly Aida, divine form, Mystical garland of light and flowers, You are queen of my thoughts, You are the splendor of my life. I want to give you back your beautiful sky, The sweet breezes of your native land, To place a royal garland on your hair, To raise you a throne next to the sun.
The Very Thought of You by Nat King Cole https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcRQiNHrsoQ Slow song, but it's all about the very thought of the singer's lover being the centerpiece of his life and love. >I see your face in every flower >Your eyes in stars above >It's just the thought of you >The very thought of you
Nightmares by Jay Reatard cover by FIDLAR https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxBmVq2QYR4 light rock and a little goofy. pessimistic view on the chances of seeing love interest. >Lonely days and sleepless nights >This doesn't seem so right >It leaves me wanting more >More than I did before >Seems that my dreams only come true >When my dreams aren't about you >Nightmares are all you bring to me
Lover Is a Day by Cuco https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wiEM0s4aCQ slow psychedelic/chill. has some waifu sounding lines, which are very pretty. i think the song is actually about falling out of love, but that doesn't stop it from having nice writing. >Family calls me crazy and my friends say I'm degenerate >But you tell me I'm so generous and my self-worth isn't hideous >This psychedelic canvas or the person I'm becoming >Went from horror movie on TV to happy ending princess me
the album Pale Machine by Bo En has waifu potential the sound is generally kind of all over but retains a pop feel with experimental sound and breaks. it portrays instability and love. the lyrics are a bit disconnected, so it's hard to single out a good example without linking the entire lyrics. the best example is the self-titled track, Pale Machine, with >Good morning, how's the weather dear? >My feelings are so clear >I just wanna be with you >Doing what you do, always >Show me how to live it's more about the meaning than the words. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_msuOlM_uI0e11UonqAJZ5swr25RblOh4M
Fuwa Fuwa Time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0xRbWqIohQ what can i say? >When we're in my dreams, >The distance between us can be shortened >Oh, God, please >Give some Dream Time for just the two of us! >Cuddling my favorite bunny doll, Goodnight again, tonight
Quando Quando Quando by Tony Renis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wP_CaUMjkI 60's pop, bit of tango. singer wondering when his love will come to him. it's in Italian, which makes it more romantic. >Tell me when you will come >Tell me when, when, when >The year, the day and the hour when >Maybe you will kiss me >I will wait every moment >Until when when when >Suddenly I'll see you >Smiling beside me
Heartaches by Al Bowlly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4cJfCmNiwQ doo-wop about singer missing his old lover. i like to imagine these lyrics not very literally but more like wishful thinking, or like recalling a dream. it fits waifuism pretty nicely then, i think. >Heartaches, heartaches >My loving you meant only heartaches >Your kiss was such a sacred thing to me >I can't believe it's just a burning memory >Heartaches, heartaches >What does it matter how my heart breaks? >I should be happy with someone new >But my heart aches for you the final two lines feel particularly waifu.
