Peer-to-peer

This board is intended to be a place for the discussion of peer-to-peer technology. This includes things like BitTorrent and IPFS. In particular, I'd like to have a place where people can discuss the potential for a p2p imageboard, something that has been often talked about but not yet created. So you can consider this board a staging ground for the creation of a p2p imageboard, and also a place to talk about p2p technology in general.

OrbitDB

A very interesting project that could be used to create a p2p imageboard is OrbitDB: https://orbitdb.org/ Currently in alpha, it uses IPFS to store mutable databases. Instead of a monolithic databse for the entire "site", each post could be its own OrbitDB database, and would be seeded by the OP and other users. Each thread would be its own database, and have references to the individual post databases. Likewise for boards. I do recommend checking it out if you're interested. I've yet to see an attempt at a p2p imageboard that makes use of OrbitDB, but it seems like a promising solution.
