Porn boards are a weird beast considering that imageboards like this aren't really designed for being able to effectively find and discover content like booru's. On one hand someone who is specifically interested in trap shota might not know that /sm/ is the board where trap shota is hosted, so having a dedicated board for it makes it more discoverable to those specifically interested in that content. But we could apply that logic to basically every kind of topic, and after a certain point you will reach excessive fragmentation.
I suppose that's one reason for wanting porn dumps contained under a generalized board. The porn dumps themselves are mostly pointless as this is a shitty medium for it. One could argue that porn on imageboards like this is only as useful as the conversations it can generate. So porn dumps inflating the activity of boards that are more general and not necessarily entirely dedicated to strictly dumping porn is more productive.
It's hard to draw any meaningful conclusion from this since imageboards are just kind of a shitty way to distribute porn in the first place. I find cuckchan's end of the spectrum of generalized boards (/d/, /trash/) incredibly stifling, but I also find the infinite fragmentation on 8moe awkward. Though it's not really a real problem. People can create whatever boards they want, I don't think they actually bring activity down that much. It feels like anons might just be a bit sensitive to anything they perceive to potentially be fucking with PPH of boards because of how dead this site is. Which feels like misdirected concern over a real problem, that this place needs some shilling to bring in new users.
