The way the belly and tail aren't really "separated" at all is what gets me, personally— it's a smooth transition the whole way down, like the appeal of snake preds but with limbs to grope the bulges. Attitude-wise, I think Randall and Gex differ HEAVILY. Gex is a TV-watching nerd on a powertrip, reveling in his fame and all the self-assured smugness that comes with it. Randall canonically (god i fucking hate Monster's University) starts as a nerd, but that gets buried under layers of bitter anger and unhealthy self defense mechanisms.
