Cameras and other utilities on game consoles Anonymous 01/15/2022 (Sat) 03:59:06 Id: b11b48 No. 841
Long story short, just acquired a Go!Cam for my PSP for peanuts because I want to see about trying Invizimals sometime, but I was curious if anyone actually used the photo and video software that came with consoles over the past few decades. I know that I messed around with my 3DS' camera for a while, but I mostly used the photo software to watch videos when I wasn't connected to the net. Anyone else do anything similar? Did anyone ever make any "cool" photos or projects with these? Also, a generic thread to talk about other utilities that were released on consoles (E-books, sewing machine configuration, calculator, IMS, etc.).
I tried the editing software that came with the PSP camera. It was about as simple as you'd expect, having a bunch of visual filters you could apply to photos or videos. You could also add text and sound effects to videos, so it was kind of like shittier Windows Movie Maker. I've considered buying a Dreamcast camera and not done it yet, because it's relatively expensive for something so useless, but I've tried the software that comes with it. It includes some simplified derivative of Photoshop that can export photos in very low quality to a memory card where they'll take tons of space. Something interesting about it is the video calling feature appears to directly call the phone number of the other person with a Dreamcast, so you could theoretically still use it if you knew another poor bastard with a Dreamcast camera.
