I figure this is a good a thread as any to put in my theory on an age old debate. There are pretty good threads on the front page anyway, and BO has a regrettable habit of deleting new threads in order to keep his memberberries.
Agents and gentlemen, here is my theory on the name of pic related, or PR as I will call him in this post.
The strongest piece of evidence for calling him "CIA" is the fact that he says "Dr Pavel I'm CIA".
This has rightly been pointed out as having an entirely different meaning from "I am a CIA agent with the name of Bill Wilson".
What is ``the`` CIA? It is a large and powerful intelligence agency that is capable of murder, espionage, and very complex plans.
And what do we know of PR? He uses psychological intimidation to make up for his relatively small size. That is why he seems to threaten summary execution of his prisoners, despite having no intention of doing so. It's why he seems to threaten bringing Big Guy Bane into big pain without a seeming intention of that either. Basically, he exaggerates to psych out his query.
By saying that ``he`` is CIA, he is making himself quite formidable. He implies that he has toppled governments, assassinated high ranking individuals, and harassed Terry Davis. I certainly would not want to trifle with such a man.
Of course, he is not the entire agency, as he betrays several times in the scene (such as announcing the fact that he's calling Ittin, declaring who possesses those men, et al).
My point is this: the CIA agent could be named something other than CIA while being not only consistent with his declaration of being CIA, but also with his character in general.
