Submit Your Banners! We need fresh banners to spruce up the board. Bonus points for any with a retro kitchen/cook book aesthetic. I've spent five minutes whipping up a first banner as a demo, but I think it needs work. Needs to have the board name and an infinity sign located somewhere, but feel free to be clever with placement.

This board can not be allowed to die.
>>103 That is a nice start. If you can draw maybe a /ck/ that looks like a butcher's knife or a deli slicer? >>120 Added Activity overall is alright. Maybe we can advertise just to let the webring know we exist.
>>127 >That is a nice start. If you can draw maybe a /ck/ that looks like a butcher's knife or a deli slicer? What kind of background do you think it should have?

>>449 These turned out pretty well! I think my favourites are either the first or third one.

Any of you cooks interested in having a unique CSS made for /ck/? If this interests you, discuss what you think the board should look like. Don't know if this place has a custom spoiler, but if it does not, brainstorm some ideas on what it should look like. If it does, ignore this part of the post.
>>1401 I wouldn't say no to a custom theme, but it can't be anything lewd because it's a SFW board. If you want to make one, it would be welcome, but nothing over the top. I considered just using Yotsuba for the yellowed cookbook aesthetic. Might be good as a base. Definitely something vaguely retro, if anything.
>>1402 >SFW board No problem. >nothing over the top. >Yotsuba for the yellowed cookbook aesthetic. >something vaguely retro, if anything. How about a red checkered background based off the picnic tables & common family tables seen in the advertisements? If that is no good, I'll think of something else.
>>1403 Sounds cute. Go for it.
>>1404 Very well. I'll report back with the finished CSS & you can decide if it's good enough to be used for the board.

>>1405 I almost forgot, if you're interested, I can add a footer mascot that sits on the bottom right corner of the page. As a quick idea, I was thinking of adding the Swedish Chef from the Muppets.

Here's what I cooked up, heh, for /ck/'s theme. Do you like how it looks, or do you have some input on something to change? Do you like the addition of the Swedish Chef Muppet in the bottom right corner? Which size of him is right for you? The background may look pink more than red, but I personally think it's a better choice of a color so that the text is legible & still fits the retro cooking theme.
>>1407 Very comfy. Can you paste the source?
>>1409 Yeah give me a moment, site's been having hiccups posting on my end
Okay! Here's the CSS theme at last! This should be good to use now.
>>1411 >>1407 Looking good!
Further refinements have been made of the board. >the checkered background should have the two white squares touching each other patched out & replaced with perfect symmetry >added transparency to OP posts followed by solid red ketchup border >reworked the dynamic announcements to also have transparency, but instead of a solid red ketchup, it has dashed lines >added goldenrod colored line breaks between threads Please update it when you can if you think it's an improvement. question, are you able to change floppy icon to save things into something different or is it not workable?
>>1415 >question, are you able to change floppy icon to save things into something different or is it not workable? You know I don't actually know. Does is use the current spoiler image or is it its own static thing site wide?
(289.05 KB 1354x631 page.png)

>>1416 >Does is use the current spoiler image or is it its own static thing site wide? Right now the floppy is being used for attachments. /ck/'s own spoiler image is still used for when anons post spoilers here. Another idea for /ck/ that I learned from looking at /digi/'s CSS is having it's own mouse cursor. A minor thing to be sure, but a nice little detail to have. If interested in the custom cursor for this board only, what would be the best? >frying pan 🍳 >knife 🔪 >spoon 🥄 >chicken leg 🍗
>>1417 More options >carrot 🥕 >baguette 🥖 >wine bottle 🍾
>>1415 New CSS has been uploaded. Generic thumbnails are both global and MIME-specific. I don't believe generic thumbnails have their own specific class identifier, which might allow them to be replaced with CSS, so you'd need either custom JS or an update to the site to allow for that. >>1417 >>1418 Might be a little too GeoCities but I'm not opposed. Would definitely need to be something pointy and would preferably match the orientation of the normal pointer. I'll leave it up to your judgement. It should have decent contrast with the theme so it doesn't blend in too much.

>>1419 Went with spoons, what do you think?
>>1420 Forgot to paste code that can be sampled via the settings
>>1421 Tried putting it in via Settings and I don't see any spoons. Should probably pick something pointier anyways. Knife or carrot might be best if they can be rotated accordingly. Otherwise, chicken leg and wine bottles are facing the right direction.

>>1422 >pointer When I made the custom pointers for my board I discovered that it was extremely important to match almost exactly the same angle as the default windows cursor. The first one was my initial attempt and the second one was my revised version that I currently use. The first one looks like it would be fine but when actually using it the cursor felt like all kinds of wrong. Just something to keep in mind.
Been away for a few days, but it's updated now. Thanks!
