After having watched the first Space Jam (Because I never saw it before outside of clips and trailers), I think I can safely come to the conclusion that the new one is going to be a flop. Reason why simply boils down to the fact that the original, despite it's flaws, has some charm. It's an extremely silly concept (Literally based off of a shoe commercial), using a bunch of (At that time) recently-invented technology, and made as a result of companies experimenting with crazy ideas because they were looking for new markets. And, if there was any time for WB to continue making quick money off of that concept, it would have been within the following few years. However, they took too long, finally released Back in Action to little fanfare, and dropped everything altogether.
Now, when Space Jam 2 comes out, the concept is going to ultimately be a retread of the previous film, all the silliness will be replaced by cringe, all the technology is going to be lazily implemented (Because no one seems to give a shit about cheap CGI anymore), and is ultimately a result of WB just relying upon nostalgia to sell their new movie. And, the change to Lola, despite however "small" it is, just shows that WB and the companies making this project don't actually care about doing a decent job. They just care about that massive paycheck they'll get from the morons who are trying to recapture a time for 30 years ago that only exists in their mind.
Also, any excuse they bring forward trying to say "It's because we wanted to have a strong female character", just call it out for the laziness it is.
