>I feel that the incident itself really made a lot of people of all sides hate on cub/kemoshota
Nah, only human loli/shotafags got mad at it, and in their case the anger was targeted at Discord staff for being unjust with them (which is true) rather than at the people consuming cub/kemono. Same with rule34.xxx and every other platform that bans one thing but not the other.
>hell people don’t even know what kemoshota is
This is true. Every time drama over cub arises most people outside of the furry fandom think the subjects involved were doing horrible things to real animals, and after finding that everything was about drawings most of them say "eww gross", leave and forget about everything the next day. It's mostly the usual "anti-furry" and "furry SJW" groups who continue the persecution for more than two days, and in their cases it usually is for their own benefit (like "own the furfags" or virtue signal online).
>it makes you wonder how scary it is that public opinion matters alot
Public opinion only matters if you have a public image AND if said public image isn't commonly related to a fringe fetish. Anonymous users like you and me have nothing to fear about online criticism because our posts will be forgotten immediately, and most (cub/kemono) porn artists should only fear the mobs if they were stupid enough to tie part of their real identities (e-mail, address, Paypal, etc) to their artistic name. It's only when you are doing something more "mainstream" (for furry standards) when you should keep a distance with fringe things like cub and even "vanilla furry".
>It’s basically kinda why I’m closeted about it and don’t fully embrace
What do you mean with "fully embracing"? Please explain yourself.
