I don't know where else to post about this but this might interest someone here. There's this autist who has been doing this for months now, he messages anyone who comments on lolibooru with this crap. >This is going to sound incredibly random especially as you just joined, but there's questions about the plot (such as it is) of a 20-page loli hentai manga. I'm messaging you since you presumably know English. >If I gave the title and artist, would you be willing to reply to questions about it on here? You'd just be reading an existing English translation and answering plot questions. There may be an improved scan and better translation done, which your answers can indirectly help with. If you reply he answers the following <Okay, the manga is Bloomark by Takase Yuu. 99% of the questions are about chapter 3. <I already have preliminary text and questions written up, so I can just copy-paste: <You can reply whenever you want and at however much length you want. <There's a bunch of text in the original Japanese missing in the English translation. Some dialogue was a bit off as well. These will be pointed out to help you with answering questions. <The first four chapters are separate (just with an added number of characters), meaning the attitude of the girls and coach "resets" each time and the sex in previous chapters did not occur. In other words don't rely on earlier chapters to explain their behavior. :P <As I said each chapter is separate and the story "resets". So there's nothing "sexual" about the club or girls at the moment, as the first chapter didn't happen and the coach and girls haven't had sex with anyone. <The age of the kids is 8-9, with the exception of Aoyama (the tall girl) who is 16 and serves as a sort of assistant to the volleyball club. <Here are the first questions (I have more ready to send after these): <page 30 (a link if you need it: https://nhentai.net/g/73143/30/ ) <There's a thought by Aoyama in the Japanese original, in a surprised tone: "Ichika resorted to extreme measures to interest new members in the Volleyball Club's exercise goals..." It refers to what Ichika is doing on the bottom-right to get members. Explain two things: first how she's trying to attract the girls with offers of obtaining the same "physique" as Aoyama, second how she's trying to "convince" the boys to join. <Explain why the girls and boys on the bottom-left panel are reacting the way they do. (There's two rows of kids, girls are on the left)

>Bayo 3 censorship Isn't it optional though? Granted, I don't love that and I can see how it might lead to a slippery slope but it's not like it's mandatory.
>responding to niggerpill
>>197982 I don't even get the point of what is there to censor in that ugly game but yes, its optional streamer mode.
>>197984 didn't the pc version of bayonetta also have something like this?
>>197985 Possibly, several lewd games have these modes nowadays.
>>197962 Remember Super exists just to cover the gap left in the ending of Z. GT's not canon so yeah there's literally no where to go but the ending of Z.
>>197982 >Isn't it optional though? Does that matter? Especially when they're advertising it as a "feature"? And, the censorship ONLY applied to the sexual content and NOT the foul language, the gore, or the events and subjects in the game's script and story that still give the title it's "Mature" rating in the first place?
>>197988 >Does that matter? Yes. If it were forced it would be 1000x worse. It matters objectively a fucking lot.
>>197988 It's an option so that faggots can stream the game on platforms such as Twitch or Youtube, that would ban and delete your account for even the slightest hint of 2D tit despite allowing 3DPD whores to parade around in bikinis.
>>197989 >It matters objectively a fucking lot. So, the fact that a company is going out there, with all the public attention on them, and announcing, to the world, that they're going to be censoring a series known for it's sexual content, shouldn't be of anyone's concern? Well, in that case, did you also buy Dead or Alive 6? A game belonging to a separate series, with said series also being known for it's sexual content, wherein KT didn't remove the sexual content, akin to how Nintendo/Platinum/Sega haven't removed the sexual content, as it's still in the game, but just locked away behind the game's settings. No? Then why are you saying that it's of "no issue" when Nintendo does it?
>>197990 >despite allowing 3DPD whores to parade around in bikinis. And despite allowing extreme and explicit violence.
I made a thread pls stob >>647006
>>197993 >Stop talking about progressive values seeping into video games in the generals created as a result of progressive values seeping into video games Fuck off!

>>197990 Sounds like a personal problem for those folks that in no way effects me because I don't use those platforms. Hey, wait a second, isn't there an OP in these threads that are about promoting alternative platforms that DON'T ban people for showing cheesecake?
>>197996 Go tell that to streamers, reviewers and lets players then, dumbass.
>>197996 Go kill yourself.
>>197991 >did you also buy Dead or Alive 6 No. DoA 6 wasn't optional. The models were changed. This is a toggle. The original content is still present. How is this comparable?
>>197990 >Platinum makes a special mode for streamers so they can play the game without breaking YouTube/Twitch's rules >in reality it won't matter because Nintendo will DMCA the shit out of anyone playing the game because fuck logic
>>197991 >hey, I invented a scenario and asked you a question >whoops I answered for you in the same post in which i posed the question >you're wrong now i win Bad faith actor. Apologizing for censorship. Opinion discarded.
>>198000 Fuck, that's an actual good strategy.
>>197999 >DoA 6 wasn't optional. Yes, it was. All of the original costumes that were "Censored" are still in the game. However, now, they're no longer the default costume, or you have to unlock or buy them. So, yes, it's still optional. And, it is comparable as you can still "choose" to play as the characters with their original outfits.
>>198003 Some of the returning costumes like Rachel's fiend costume or Christie's S&M getup covered more skin compared to their DOA5 incarnations, I'll try to find a picture of that when I return.
>>198004 You'll have to look for a recent screenshot as those "alterations" were changed within a month of launch.

>>198015 I have been actively engaging him for a while so I doubt that he is a bot but definitely some sort of bad faith actor, glowie or college fuck doing research
>>197991 japan game devs and publishers being faggots? nothing new about that. its a grand tradition since at least the 80's sega wanted to kill bayonetta post the first game. as time goes on they seem to be going the way of capcom, sony and square. bayonetta as a concept can't be sold to the mainstream global audience. that first game was lighting in a bottle (like the first devil may cry) but it was never going to sell the numbers sega needs to justify any further investment. Nintendo trying to keep it alive and make it into a franchise is just a holdover from the weirdness of the WiiU era of no games and a failed console. >>197991 didn't they say that the fucked reception of 6 has killed DoA games for at least the next decade?
>>198016 Start acting against luciano and i might use /b/.
>>198019 He isn't violating any rules really. Well other than boring me. Yeah that sounds fine.
>>198021 Him and niggerpill are the same person and its obvius he wants to shit up boards to drive away users, hes an obvius bad faith actor.
>>198022 Fine I'll start banning and deleting him. Could be fun.
>>198018 >sega wanted to kill bayonetta post the first game. as time goes on they seem to be going the way of capcom, sony and square. Sega seems to have taken a look at how those companies act and told them to hold their beer. AFAIK, Sega was the ONLY company who actually went out there, in Japan, to declare how they back their alphabet sexuality employees, and they did it over a year before Nintendo and SquarEnix stated the same thing. In addition, they also made sure to voice their opinion on the SCOTUS and Dobbs. >didn't they say that the fucked reception of 6 has killed DoA games for at least the next decade? I believe so, but don't quote me.
>>198014 >it's why they have been angrily buzzing around the site crying and whining that 2D should be considered the same as their shit They've been doing that the whole time. >>198016 Well good. I had pretty much given up on /b/.
>>198003 Anon their entire models changed. Original costumes didn't mean jack shit. Putting on those outifts didn't grow their tits by the two cups they lost or fix their weird faces. It is not the same.
>>198004 game also had black outlines and layers you could add for further censorship. they thought that would make EVO and ESPN happy. Tecmo koei also insisted they use the broken tech built by omega force instead of the stuff team ninja already had. All it did was fuck up performance and screw over mods.
>>198026 >Anon their entire models changed. Do you have a source to that? After all, the game was running on a different engine (According to this Anon: >>198027 ), so it could have been a difference in the lighting or how the characters are rendered.
>>198028 >Do you have a source to that? My eyes? The fact they looked completely different? Fuck anon literally everyone was talking about it at the time. Regardless, the point is the amount of shit done to DOA6 is not the least bit equivalent to adding an optional streamer toggle to Bayo 3. The normal game's wicked weaves look exactly the same and the previous games. Hell they even gave the toggle a mocking name in the vein of "can I play too daddy?" Not liking that it's there is fine. Being worried that it being there will mean future titles might have worse things is fine. Acting like it's the same as what was done to DOA6 is retarded.
>>198029 >streamer toggle Stop making this the name for it as if it's for some legitimate purpose (not that there is any even with that), it's literally a censored mode. Might as well call it a "family-friendly" mode if you're going that far. They have said nothing about streamers, and Nintendo is one of the most litigious and demonizing of streamers and jewtubers about their game, they have never thrown them a bone in the past and routinely DMCA them more than any other gaming corporation, and yet you say it's a streamer mode like they suddenly care about them? Be honest about what it is instead of being Nintendo's marketing department trying to find legitimate-sounding justifications and ways to downplay this for what it really is: Turning something that was part of Bayonetta's core identity into an optional "feature" that can be eschewed in the future once the culture demands it.
>>197958 The forced existence of previously finished Shounen manga is reaching bottom of the barrel now. They are literally adapting fanfic garbage into official material. Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball and some others are all going down in flames like that.
>>198031 Good? They'll learn a lesson not to milk a series, and fans will stop being consoomers.
>>198030 And it's still there and looking the exact same as the previous games. Until it isn't that's not censorship. It's a mode for the easily triggered with a mocking name. If they get rid of the original content I'll be right there there with you complaining. Until then, trying to act like it's gone just makes you look like a retard.
>>197968 It sounds like he is using excuses to try to force new (and censored) translations to replace the old.
>>198032 Not if it becomes a imposed practice, like many others in the Japanese industry, to try to corner fans into having no other option. It was done before, and it destroyed companies and franchises.
(61.36 KB 768x432 AAZwOsN.jpeg)

>>198030 In fact here's an archive with one of their actual statements on it https://archive.ph/iu4J2 >We've added the revolutionary "Naive Angel Mode" to Bayonetta 3 so more people can fully enjoy it👍 >you can turn it on in the living room without having to worry about it Literally made so it can reach more people, aka the lowest common denominator, and to make Bayonetta be more family friendly The rest is just trying to placate people through sheer bullshit. >>198033 >family friendly modes are okay >I'm sure platinum games will stop here So let's get this straight, none of these events are concerning to you? >Platinum games makes a censored mode for their newest game, it's essentially a family friendly mode made to increase its audience >take Tencent money and literally shilled for GaaS shortly afterwards >added in an ugly, almost SJW/Andromeda-tier character And you think everything is fine until you're literally being assraped? >tells people to "relax", like literally every other place did by saying "we're not taking away your games" Right now it's just the tip being shoved into you, but I guess you're the kind of retard who will only learn how fucked you are once your insides are turned to mush.
>>198030 >>198029 I just took a look at the Bayonetta 3 relese date trailer. what the fuck is up the blue lipstick dyke? the butch haircut leather jacket combo looks like something tumblr would have come up with years ago. (all the face animations looks so fucked). I'm more concerned with just how bad the game looks (and sounds) then I am about the stupid censorship toggle. I am almost at a complete loss that they thought this looked good enough to show off....
>>198029 >Regardless, the point is the amount of shit done to DOA6 is not the least bit equivalent to adding an optional streamer toggle to Bayo 3. Yes, it is. >The normal game's wicked weaves look exactly the same and the previous games. And, the costumes in DoA6 are the same as in DoA5. >Hell they even gave the toggle a mocking name in the vein of "can I play too daddy? And, they made some of the original costumes unlockables for those that can play DoA6 well. >>198030 >Might as well call it a "family-friendly" mode if you're going that far. As I pointed out earlier, it isn't even a "Family friendly" mode as it doesn't censor the gore, the language, the character's actions, nor the plot. >Turning something that was part of Bayonetta's core identity into an optional "feature" that can be eschewed in the future once the culture demands it. What's stopping them from doing that right now? The feature is already in the game, what's to prevent Nintendo/Platinum/Sega from making the "Naive Angel" mode default from when the game starts, and players have to physically go into the options menu to disable it? Or, have it where you need to beat the game in order to unlock the option to turn it off? Or, have it where you need to input a certain combination on the title screen in order to disable the feature every single time you start up the game like we're playing Mortal Kombat on a Genesis and it's 1994?
>>198031 >They are literally adapting fanfic garbage into official material And not even good fanfics. I remember reading years ago a fanmade "multiversal tournament" saga that was more original than the one Toei made in DBS. Instead of making 12 universes with 0 background, the contestants came from different timelines, including one where the sayian rebelled against Freeza and killed him and his army, one where all Namekian merged into one to beat Freeza, one where Cell defeated everyone and kept training in space, one where Boo defeated everyone but after absorbing Goku and Bulma he became smart enough not to genocide everyone but rather to aim to get stronger like Goku, one where Vegito wasn't unfused by Boo and instead became the strongest being in his universe, one where Freeza and his family took over the universe, and even the Dr Slump universe.
>>198038 >Yes, it is. No it isn't. >And, the costumes in DoA6 are the same as in DoA5. Other anons already pointed out to you that the costumes were not the same. In addition, the fact hey have to be unlocked in addition to reduced chest size already adds more differences, defeating your argument. But keep moving those goalposts.
>>198038 >heh, see this censorship? >well it could've been worse, owned I don't give a shit about what's not censored yet, because that's the kind of shit that will get censored in the future Thats what's trying to be stopped by complaining about this shit now, but you fail to recognize that. In FE Fates they kept in the cutscenes that literally focuses the camera completely on Camila's massive ass, tits, and crotch explicitly, but is that game magically uncensored because of it? No, it fucking isn't, get your head out of your ass.
And here comes the pedo nigger to give us the confirmation it was a shill raid the whole time. Why did I even bother responding.
>>198036 >>added in an ugly, almost SJW/Andromeda-tier character Unlike everyone else, she isn't the problem I have with the game. I like the late-90's, early aughts punk rock style they have going for her. But, that also depends on how it plays out in the story. Although, I have to admit that the second image here doesn't give her a good look: >>198037 Not that it really matters for me because I don't have a Switch nor would I buy (Or even pirate) this game because of how Sega and Nintendo are acting.
>>198040 >Other anons already pointed out to you that the costumes were not the same. And, as I said, I don't believe he's correct as the version of the game I briefly played had the same costumes from the prior games. >In addition, the fact hey have to be unlocked Not all of them, AFAIK. >in addition to reduced chest size You guys haven't proved that. >>198041 >I don't give a shit about what's not censored yet, because that's the kind of shit that will get censored in the future I'd advise that you reread my post because I think you misunderstand what I was saying.

>>198045 >and assumed you were trying to defend Given the way of this conversation, I can understand why that error can occur. Given how I started this with pointing out how censorship is happening in a game, someone else is trying to say "Fuck off" and censorship isn't happening because the content is "still there", then my pointing out that a similar scenario happened with another game and people weren't defending or merciful to what happened in that situation, and now how I have to almost "defend" the censorship in another game to show how this game is doing the same thing. Also, does anyone still have those Silent Hill HD Collection and FF7 Remake vids about how the "original is always there", but that the newer releases are essentially replacing the originals?

>>198091 >Don't wanna niggerpill but shit like pic related is making me wonder why even bother trying It's from GameFaqs, isn't it? Don't bother arguing with those idiots. User B, in the pic, is a moron who would rather allow laziness to persist and embrace his nostalgia rather than demand better results and come to the realization that much of what he enjoyed was a lie. Perhaps the cherry on top is the claim that: <I think my intent, though, was to portray that that small differentiation does not IMPEDE that audience member's enjoyment of the material. YES, IT FUCKING DOES!!! If a translation changes a smug calculator character into a prick that everyone hates, THAT does impede people's ability to appreciate the work as you're delivering them a different story than was originally produced. That's not to mention the fact that, if you change things enough to where players get a substantially different experience in one region than those in another, it causes a fracture in the community to where the publisher has to cater to one side of the ocean or the other, and they'll be burned at the stake regardless of what they do. That's a big reason why people throw a fit whenever games take far-reaching departures from the original material. Why people hate GoW becoming a cinematic experience about raising your wife's son, why people hate that Doom became a first-person character action game, why people hate that Zelda has become Nintendo's equivalent of Skyrim, why people hate that Metal Gear threw zombies into the series out of nowhere, why people hate that the Halo and Resident Evil TV series significantly depart from the concepts and stories of the games. It's because this content does not appeal to the people that originally enjoyed those products, and the people that it does cater to had ZERO interest in the original work for a reason. So, no, to say that differences don't "impede" one's enjoyment is one big fat lie. It does. It causes divisions where none should have existed in the first place. That's also beside the fucking point that people play Japanese games for the fact that they're Japanese. If you DIDN'T want to have a Japanese experience, then WHY are you playing a Japanese game?

It's not a female empowerment, NTR is designed to be gut wrenchingly despicable as you watch a man lose his mind. THAT'S why NTR is trash.
>>198208 >when people refer to NTR (Or "Netorare"), they are referring to when the guy walks in in his girl getting fucked and "accepts it" or an heroes. That may be the original definition, anon, but it certainly isn't the current colloquial usage. These days NTR is almost exclusive used to describe a scenario where one's significant other ends up intimately involved with someone else. That can be cheating, that can be rape. It doesn't matter. The person who is the "victim" doesn't have to accept it or commit suicide. If their girlfriend or boyfriend is taken willingly or unwilling by someone else that's all it takes for people to call it NTR. Hell, people will use the word even when the plot is teased even if it doesn't happen. It's extremely common in romance stories when rivals are introduced even.
>>198213 And, once again, normalfags ruin the definition of anything that sprouts from the internet.
the men lose because the woman are always "blameless" according to the bogus logic in every NTR story. they place all the blame on the men in the story instead of just admitting they wanted sex. its a garbage concept. only a woman worshiping moron could get off to that shit.

>>198212 >>198213 >>198214 the core concept is the woman wants sex but she can't admit to liking the sex so she has to be "coerced" into it. its never the woman's fault for becoming an insane turbo slut. if only the good (weak) man had not been so lame and rescued her from the stronger guy with the bigger dick. now he has to forever live in shame or kill himself... do you see how little sense that fucking makes? its all female purity worship vs unchecked female sexuality killing society nonsense. men don't need to die because some cunt woke up and decided to be a whore. of course we can't dare "slut shame" the poor girl so we have to come up with all these idiot mental gymnastics. stop jacking off to your own self loathing and acknowledge that woman have fucking major flaws beyond just "being children" or whatever the incel/pol/mgtow meme that's gets repeated over and over so men never ask females to take basic responsibility for all the shitty behaviors they exhibit. >>198228 It depends on how you see women. If you see more like dogs boats that live to serve men, then whenever she cheats on one, it's man's fault for not properly taking care of her. Kinda like the ideas presented in pic related. If you think of her on equal footing as a man, then sure they are both at fault for cheating(both the woman, and the other guy), however if a woman gets raped(as in actual rape), then it's most likely 100% the man's fault.
(346.40 KB 524x511 Simons.png)

>>198228 As I told the other anon in the post you quoted that may very well be the original intended idea behind "netorare." It was likely much, much more specific before. But that doesn't change the fact the current colloquial definition is what I said. You can say "fucking normalfags ruining language" all you want, but it's not going to put the genie back in the bottle. It's become so widespread that it is no longer possible to contain it.
To this anon from the previous thread >>646695 I've gotten to this puzzle. It makes a lot of sense in context and is a genuine "holy fuck there's so much effort put into this game for the actual ending" moment. My only issue with these holy cross puzzles is that they're a bit esoteric in terms of figuring out which orientation of directions you're supposed to be following due to the 3d nature of the game, plus a lot of the "starting points" of various NPC behaviors you're supposed to mimic just aren't that obvious. Hell even in the golden path puzzle it may sometimes be too "out there" to reasonably deduce and there's not much in the way of visual or audio cues to tell you if you're on the right track or not. Hell in the golden path puzzle it took me a while to figure out that I made a mistake on page 52(top right corner) that I needed to press right twice because of the "fork" in the middle of the path when that's not immediately obvious in the actual booklet page. But yeah, would really recommend the game. It goes from a 6/10 okay-ish zelda clone with some puzzle elements to a genuine fun 8.5/10 La-Mulana was the only other game to pull this shit and I absolutely love it kind of game. Once you get the dash circlet the actual game truly starts.

>>198229 >image Is... Is all of that true? When it started talking about validation and shit, I got flashbacks to my parents' marriage falling apart and the reasons I considered to be true. Mom always *did* mention (and was right about) how Dad "changed" and "wasn't the man she married" after he returned from the middle east with an untreated closed head injury. Maybe that's why she turned into a violent alcoholic that terrorized me several nights a week. I can't tell if this is /pol/-tier unprovable anecdotes, or if the anon that made that post accidentally just gave me genuine therapy.
(1.61 MB 1210x6291 nature of women 2.jpg)

>>198232 By rape I am referring to stuff such as group of men beating a woman and holding a knife at her throat as they rape her, or guy secretly putting drugs in a woman's drink then raping her sleeping body, or politician using his power and authority to demand sex from woman, such as "if you don't have sex with me, I will send your family to the work camps". You can't tell me these cases are "women wanting it" or "women share the blame". As for the """"""rape"""""" fetish that a lot of women have, it's 100% different from rape. First of all they are in complete control of the fantasy, they have complete control on how the guy looks, what he says, where they are located, they can ignore all the "pain" it would cause and only focus on the pleasure of it. Secondly a """"""rape"""""" scenario they would fap to, would probably involve a handsome masked man, whisking her away to his lavish mansion, then he gently puts her on bed, as she lightly protests, he then kisses her arms and neck, gives her a massage, starts undressing her as he compliments her body. He also undresses, and she admires his 6 pack, he then starts licking her vagina, and eventually have gentle sex with her as he continuously admires her body and pleads her to break up with her husband and marry him. Now you will say that this is all bullshit and in no way a rape scenario, and I agree, but it's the same thing with men. A """"""rape"""""" fantasy for man, would be getting drugged by the woman, then getting tied to the bed, she who of course is very beautiful, starts by giving a boob and mouth job while admiring how big the cock is. After ejaculating in her mouth she, of course enjoys the taste and swallows it all, but thankfully you are still erect, so she now starts saddling you cowgirl style, professing her love to you, as your dick conquers her heart, and as you ejaculate you also knock her up, and of course she will come back the next day for round two whether you want it or not. >>198240 Don't know anon, but have the second part as well.
>>198240 Dad turned into a violent alcoholic because war is fucking hell and it's true in every war. Men that come back from war untouched didn't experience the true horrors of combat. >>198241 Do you have schizophrenia?
>>198243 No, do you?
>>198241 as I said most "hentai rape" is fantasy rape. set up for titillation. just like how video game war is mostly fantasy war set up for fun. very few people want to see super realistic rape or war in the media they consume. (look at these rich woman dressing up like fantasy rape victims, super fun times!)
>>198245 Sure, I agree, the thing is that we were discussing blame. If it's the fantasy rape scenarios, like with the handsome man, then they are both to be blamed, if it's actual rape(and I also gave examples of this) then it's the rapist fault. The high percentage of women who have a rape fetish, don't actually want to be raped, at most they want a larp. Kinda like how people into BDSM don't actually want random people punching them in the stomach or face.

It's not like with western cartoons where you have to go out of your way and be a degenerate to search for porn and talk about it. I dunno, it sounded better in my head.

>>647284 >The guy who wrote it should be fucking shamed that his official work got FAR outclassed by a literal fucking fanfiction. >the guy who wrote it The problem is that it wasn't written by a guy, but by a committee. Toriyama gave a basic idea, then the anime was done by Toei and the manga was done by Toyotaro, a guy who was hired based on doing good fanfiction (and previously doing the surprisingly good adaptations of Dragon Ball Heroes. But the manga is monthly and the anime is weekly, so the manga struggled to keep up with the basic story of the anime, and thus comes off very rushed. After that arc, the anime ended, and the manga was allowed to go at its own pace. Toriyama also said that at that point, the manga's author started having more control over the plot concepts as well. It shows, as the arcs after, that don't have an anime version, are way better, and way more autistic than anything Toriyama would do. For example, he actually remembers that the current version of Buu is basically just a fusion Daikaioshin and South Kaioshin, and does stuff with that. A lot of the problem with Super is that it wasn't based on a manga, but was instead just based on a vague outline, and the manga had to rush to keep up with the anime, so even the manga couldn't be really good. All that said, I'm still mad about how stupid the other universes are. Universe 6 was set up like it was gonna be the backwards universe, where the Saiyans and Frieza are good. Cool. But oh wait, the twist is that good Frieza is actually evil. So he's just the same as regular Frieza. They did a twist to make it less interesting. Great. I'd rather cliche shit like a regular old backwards universe. At least that's a cliche that works.

>>198311 I like more original broly, because it was more entertaining that the legendary super saiyan is a fucking psychopath. But also wanted him to be a recurring villain.
>>198292 >Why are normalfags and Marxist scumbags are overtly obsessed with doing live adaptation of Japanese-made animé and video games? Because they don't really feel like something has hit the "big time" until there's an actual theatrical release of the project. Best way I could probably illustrate this is The Transformers movie back in the in '86, where Hasbro just poured all of the money in to make it a big budget project off what was a decent show made to sell toys. That's what people are demanding when it comes to wanting to see a theatrical performance of their favorite anime or vidya. However, for years, it's mostly become a monkey paw wish as the people who end up making this productions have zero respect (For whatever reason) for the source material, or the people that enjoy it, and proceed to "fix" everything "wrong" with a product that was never broken in the first place.
>>198313 It's just funny watching them go from "yeah these other adaptations are bad, but x company will never cuck" to seeing their series become a train wreck.

It actually has a full story, with a beginning, middle, and end. The new Broly movie feels like one of those glorified specials that most of the Dragon Ball movies are. Actually feel like a real movie tier >Battle of Gods >Broly 1 Short, but at least they attempt to have an actual beginning, middle, and end tier >Garlic Jr >Dr. Wheelo Glorified tv special that's just an excuse for fighting tier >the rest Look, I like the rest, and yes, some are better than others, but none of them even feel like movies. For as good as Battle of Gods was, I thought the next two would actually attempt to be real movies too, but they don't. They're shallow excuses for fight scenes. And yes, I want fight scenes, but at least try to be an actual movie. >>198313 The original Transformers movie was a legendary bomb. Evidently it was not what people were demanding, even if it has a cult following today. The 2007 Transformers movie and its sequels are much more what people are talking about.

>>198318 >It's not like they tried to hide it, Toyo mentions pretty bluntly that they were the basis for them. Those characters are quite minor and not even particularly close. Evil clown isn't really new, and he doesn't look like Joker more than any other clown. He also doesn't act much like him. That girl shares nothing in common with Harley aside from having pigtails and being somewhat associated with the clown character. If Toyo said they were the basis, fine, but clearly it was more "vaguely inspired me to do clown and pigtails" and not "make my own versions of these characters."

>>198319 Maybe in the anime, not in the manga. In the manga, the first intro of the guy we have is him killing one of his associates he's "partying" with because she wasn't funny and snarled towards Marcarita. Typical of the "Joker killed for less". He does other stuff, like when everyone gangs up on Beerus, he pulls of his version of the Joker cards and goes all >Muh anarchy, muh chaos, I will win I get it, you might not like it but it's not the 8s anymore where Toriyama had Kenta Kuraku go in a telephone booth to put his Supaman clothes and lick a lemon to show that he's a superhero, things have gotten a little less subtle because modern guys are more westaboo. Not to mention, Super's biggest audience is the west. Heroes biggest audience on the other hand, are japanese kids and that's the show that features all the compltely unsubtle references to other japanese products, japanese memes, callbacks and former DB cancelled storylines instead. Both are cancer but they care to different types of consumers. And none of them are my type despite the many chances I gave them in the past.

>>198320 Even in the manga, that's only a very small little fight, and not something that particularly stands out. It's also something so generic it feels like what you'd expect out of a clown themed god. I didn't even think Joker, and I'm a pretty big capeshit autist. Not like people here on a vidya board wouldn't be aware of other clown themed gods. The references really aren't enough to be a significant positive or negative. The initial story arc in the original manga isn't good because it's journey to the west, it's good because of its original elements. And when Goku was retconned to have Superman's origin, what made it good was the original stuff that was done with it. (Except actually a lot of that, like Kryptonians being evil, was actually done with Superman in the manga, but I doubt Toriyama was aware of it.)
>>198215 >its a garbage concept. only a woman worshiping moron could get off to that shit. Like Acid then.
>>198323 Sure thing, it's a minor aspect but it's there and denotes the difference between the original creator and those who are now in essence, the next holders of the series, the many writers and directors for the SW expanded universe in a parallel way. >Except actually a lot of that, like Kryptonians being evil, was actually done with Superman in the manga, but I doubt Toriyama was aware of it. Except DB Minus happened years later and Tori fully admited he read Superman's origins to make it that way. The Saiyans=Kryptonians has been a fucking meme in the west until became a reality in Japan as well. > big capeshit autist. You that /co/ poster?
>>198325 You're saying Toriyama denies that Goku's retconned origin was at all inspired by Superman? Because I don't believe it. DB Minus is irrelevant to the point, unless you're saying he later decided to make Goku's parents deliberately like Superman's parents. (Even though they still aren't much like Superman's parents beyond being explicitly good now, and I suppose deliberately saving him.) But even without that, just being a human-looking alien raised on earth with special powers and eventually realizing he's an alien is way too much like Superman to ignore. The first episode of Ultraman is very much like Green Lantern's origin, but I'm willing to chalk it up to coincidence. But no way Toriyama wasn't aware of Superman's origin when he retconned it to be Goku's origin. Those Superman movies were huge and he repeatedly referenced Superman throughout Dr. Slump. Not to mention Superman being an extremely influential character for 50 years by the time that retcon happened. It's like if DC made Superman turn into a giant monkey in the full moon, then tried to pretend it had nothing to do with Dragon Ball. >You that /co/ poster? Yes.

YES Bardock was some violent schmuck who had a change of heart at the last minute, he was neither a brilliant scientish not some goody two shoes saiyan that sent his boy off planet with his wife who he loved so much that he stood out of the saiyan race just like Jor-El did with his mind and convictions. No, Bardock was your typical Saiyan, an alien monkey man who was the embodiment of a cross between a pirate, a viking and a spartan who loved doing what he did and thought his son a fucking worthless weakling ready to be cast at the depths of Ceadas of Mount Taygetus if it meant his woman's useless vaginal shit would be an asset to the Saiyan's later. Goku, happened to be sent to Earth because he was weak and became a better person not because he came from a race of divine ubermensch but because an old pervert took him and nursed him after he nearly died from a fall. In Minus, Goku was a semi naughty kid born to two super righteous saiyans, who tie to Super Saiyan God and his Jesus origins and the hit to his head made him forget he's Kakarot despite fucking wearing alien armour. It also fucks with his origin, since Gohan genuinly thought the sky spit a giant rock and out of it came a baby, like in the OG Journey to the West, where the sky and earth created a rock that birthed Sun Wukong. That's why the Saiyan pods look like fucking rocks in the first place and have such unorthodox landings >Supaman in Dr.Slump Yes, he was aware of Superman, never denied that but he was a mock character. Unless you wanna go full autist and try to tell me that somehow, Tar-chan was more than a one-off joke of Tarzan in Dr.Slump as well. Supaman was the same thing, he was the movie Superman who went into a telephone booth, changed clothes and did something heroic. Nothing more, in Slump his heroic acts were licking lemons and pinching Mr. Poop. >The first episode of Ultraman is very much like Green Lantern's origin, but I'm willing to chalk it up to coincidence Because it is, Green Lantern became a thing with Superfriends in japan, not with the comics. And Superfriends were in the 80s, while Ultraman was riffing off Godzilla and previous monster movies from TOHO, like that giant invisible man. Even if Tsuburaya read comics during his time in America, he would have read Allan Scott's adventure which were magical in nature, not Hal Jordan's which came a good 20 years(?) after Tsubu went back to Japan. >>198333 >they went around genociding entire planets. And selling them to weaker races as well, Raditz was somewhat proud of that "enterprenureal spirit", something the Yakuza and landsharks did in the 80s and what Frieza is as a bad guy. In essence, DBZ's Saiyan and Namek arcs are closer to Kiryu's Yakuza 0 arc since they both have similar origins and inspirations, that Superman.

It had some coolness to it for sure. Like Beat Takeshi's character in a few of his Yakuza flicks, except it's not suicide that does him in. >>198339 And Gine, his wife, was a cucked out weakling who became a butcher because she disliked fighting. >>198229 >It is men's fault >It is both fault And never blame women, like a true simp, right? It is always women's fault. Always. <What about rape Women's fault for being born women.
>>198330 >Superman did not invent this origin. Hell it was directly taken from the story of Moses. Being a space alien with special powers adds a lot to the "previously unknown parentage" angle. And Bardock was objectively not a character until a tv special that came out well after, and a brief cameo in the manga that's basically just a reference to the tv special. Yes, that tv special is better than Dragon Ball Minus, but it's all really irrelevant to the point. "You have special powers because you're a space alien except you were raised on earth as a human" is quite specific. And the planet being blown up right after he left, leaving him as effectively the last of his kind (except for a bunch of exceptions) doesn't help either. >>198333 This was also basically canon to Superman before Raditz showed up in Dragon Ball. Kryptonians used to go around conquering other planets, hence why there are other aliens related to Kryptonians, most notably Daxamites. Then the Guardians of the Universe had to put a stop to it (which is not too unlike how Toei had Kaio say in filler that the Saiyans were wiped out by their God. Actually I think that happened in Superman too, as the Kryptonian gods Nightwing and Flamebird were involved in this whole thing). This is also why space flight was banned and why this super advanced race didn't have way more people off-world when they blew up. And in 1986 they changed history to make it so Krypton was an amoral science world that we weren't really supposed to like anymore. Not full on evil, but not a planet of good guys that Superman would actually like. Of course, I doubt Toriyama was aware of any lore this deep. >>198335 >he was neither a brilliant scientish not some goody two shoes saiyan that sent his boy off planet with his wife who he loved so much that he stood out of the saiyan race just like Jor-El did with his mind and convictions. Yeah, but none of that is needed to recognize that the source of Goku's powers being that he was secretly an alien raised on Earth by old rural people is already the origin of another very famous comic book character that everyone in the world, including Toriyama, was very aware of, especially in the '80s when he starred in a very successful film franchise. >and the hit to his head made him forget he's Kakarot despite fucking wearing alien armour. The armor didn't include a helmet. I also think Minus is worse than Bardock. But it's irrelevant to the point. You seem to be arguing a different thing than me. >he was the movie Superman who went into a telephone booth, changed clothes and did something heroic. Nothing more Yes. The movie included Superman's origin. It was a very long sequence right at the beginning. The second movie also included a rather significant prologue that recapped it, and it's important to the plot of the movie. >Because it is, Green Lantern became a thing with Superfriends in japan Yeah, exactly. And Green Lantern was much newer and not as famous. Also it's a ripoff of Lensmen (but specifically the bit with the alien dying and giving his power to an Earthman I'm pretty sure isn't). But Superman was a way bigger deal, including in Japan, and for much longer. And yes, obviously fighting giant kaiju is due to Godzilla and Tsuburaya's work on it (though it's not like Green Lantern didn't also fight his share of giant monsters). That's why I said specifically the first episode. The origin is like Green Lantern's. But yes, it's almost surely coincidence. >DBZ's Saiyan and Namek arcs are closer to Kiryu's Yakuza 0 arc since they both have similar origins and inspirations, that Superman. Nobody is claiming that the arcs are like Superman arcs. They're claiming the origin story is Superman's origin story. >>198339 >Wait hes a scientist now? >>198340 >Wait no that's just a joke made from the TFS abridged shit. No, it's a reference to the first English dub of DBZ, where Vegeta says the technique of using a ki ball to mimic moonlight and activate transformations was invented by Goku's father, "a brilliant scientist," in what was very likely the dub writers noticing the Superman similarities and leaning into it. Of course it's stupid because in the original Vegeta says the technique is only used by high class saiyans like himself, and thus it adds to his characterization and the divide between himself and Goku. Step up your Dragon Ball autism, anon. That shit existed decades before TFS and their bullshit. The only original things they invented were awful shit like Yamcha singing a song about cats. Even worse than the stuff the official dubs made up. >>198341 >And they made Bardock a twig. That's also just Toriyama's artstyle changing over time. He always just wanted to draw cute stuff. He just got roped into drawing musclemen for like a decade, then reverted back. >>198329 >>198332 You guys are both missing the joke. Except no, the people of Earth already could do shit that were way better than what Goku did. His "alien powers" were something completely accidental(turning into a giant monkey) and being slightly better at fighting than geniuses like Tenshinhan. That's it. And the people didn't even treat him like an alien because such shit was thought of as natural to Earth,a planet full of fucking magic beings like monsters, demons, ghosts, devils and undead horrors roaming around with yokai and other mythical creatures. FUCKING STOP THIS SHIT >The armor didn't include a helmet. That's not the fucking point in the first place. Goku was a baby originally and his Saiyan pod came equiped with the "mission" where he would, supposedly, find it when he came of age if Gohan hadn't found him the woods and he'd understand what he needed to do. Meanwhile, in Minus he sees his parents, he already was somewhat sentient of the fact, had armour on him, Gohan found him with the armour on in a very certain alien landing site and his head trauma made him forget about mom and dad until a scouter by some old namekian in another planet reminded him. >Yes. I know about the fucking movies That's not the point, the point is that audiences, not autists like you, me and the rest here, but audiences don't give a fuck about the origin, they care about the cool scenes that followed Krypton. Especially the nips that wanted to see the funny american man fly. >Lensmen Yeah, that's the one. >hat's also just Toriyama's artstyle changing over time. He always just wanted to draw cute stuff. He just got roped into drawing musclemen for like a decade, then reverted back. I claim fucking horseshit on this one because whenever he's interested in something and genuinly interested, he'd do anything he can to make it happen, regardless of the restrictions of the artstyle. The Kanzenban volume covers are proof of it. Shallot, the "ancient saiyan" from a mobage that Toriyama penned some of its plot was also built like a man and not a twig. Meanwhile, the shit that got cucked by Toei, Shueisha etc's meddling, he just goes and twigs everything, reuses designs etc. Hell, Piccolo Fanta is just some giant brute that goes completely against the idea of a form getting less intimidating and slimming to be effective. And he's the one who came up with it. Same with Gohan Blanco, he made Gohan bulk up again instead of twiging him like he did for Goku twice in a row.
>>198344 >the people of Earth already could do shit that were way better than what Goku did. His "alien powers" were something completely accidental Except Toriyama retconned it so he was particularly good at fighting specifically because he was an alien. Obviously originally Goku wasn't much like Superman, but then Toriyama said "actually, he's Superman." >Earth,a planet full of fucking magic beings like monsters, demons, ghosts, devils and undead horrors roaming around with yokai and other mythical creatures. You say this as if this isn't also the case on Superman's version of Earth. >The armor didn't include a helmet. >That's not the fucking point in the first place. It is when the part I'm replying to is you complaining that the armor didn't protect his head. I didn't disagree with you that it didn't match the original and was dumb in general. You think I don't know the story of Dragon Ball? You have no idea how autistic I am for this shit. You're arguing different points than me. You're mad that it isn't as good a story as the Bardock special and other elements that were implied in the manga. I never disagreed. That has nothing to do with anything I'm saying. My argument that Goku's origin was retconned to be Superman rests entirely on the things Raditz said in the initial retcon. Those things he said change an origin that previously was nothing like Superman to one that is now significantly like Superman. Additional elements would only come much later and have little to do with my argument either way. >That's not the point, the point is that audiences, not autists like you, me and the rest here, but audiences don't give a fuck about the origin, they care about the cool scenes that followed Krypton. Yeah, but it was two massive blockbusters showcasing the story where an alien baby escapes a dying planet only to be found by old rural earthlings and be raised as one of us only with special alien power. That's quite a specific story, and one that many people, almost surely including Toriyama, saw, so the chance of him retconning the protagonist of his comic book to have all of those elements in his origin seems likely not to be a coincidence. >Shallot et al You raise some good points. I have been trying to avoid spoilers on Super Hero until I can actually watch it, so I'll reserve argument on that. But the tone of Toriyama's stories also leaned away from the hardcore musclemen more into comedic and slice of life. See Son Goku and His Friends Return, and Battle of Gods. Even Shallot there looks a lot twinkier than early '90s Dragon Ball.
>>198343 >And in 1986 they changed history to make it so Krypton was an amoral science world that we weren't really supposed to like anymore. Not full on evil, but not a planet of good guys that Superman would actually like. You sure about that because I remember watching the original Adventures of Superman show from back in the 50's and the premise having something to do with the fact that the Kyptonians not exactly being evil but just looking for another planet to move to since they destroyed Kyrpton.
>>198346 Really? I gotta watch more of that show. The comics weren't like that previously, as they consistently showed Krypton was awesome up until 1986 (but they did have the dark history of conquest). Perhaps John Byrne was slightly inspired by that. But also he didn't like the idea of Superman liking Krypton anyway, as he thought it made him look unappreciative of what Earth and the Kents did for him, so maybe Byrne did it for other reasons and wasn't even aware of that element in the show. I wonder. I mean it was a big show, but I've seen plenty of episodes and almost none of them mention Krypton at all except for the basic explanation that he has powers because he came from there when he was a baby.
>>198345 >That's quite a specific story No, it's not. There are dozens of stories, worldwide about some special child being found by an random barren couple in the boonies, who then goes on grand adventures and/or is crowned king. As someone already brought up, there's the tale of Moses; in Japan, there's the legend of Momotarou, Peach Boy; in American, there was the novel The Light in the Forest, about a white boy being raised by American-Indians, and Star Wars back in '77; and, in Europe, there was the tale of King Arthur, an average stable boy who turned out to be the true king of England. Then there's spins on it, like Twain's classic The Prince and the Pauper, where it's doppelgangers switching places rather than being the "long lost child".
>>198348 >There are dozens of stories, worldwide about some special child being found by an random barren couple in the boonies, who then goes on grand adventures and/or is crowned king. And is a last of his kind space alien who escaped his planet just as it was blowing up and is super strong due to being an alien. You're ignoring many particular elements.
>>198349 >And is a last of his kind That's the case with King Arthur, Peach Boy, and Luke. >who escaped his planet just as it was blowing up Moses escaped pharaoh slaughtering the infants, and The Light in the Forest was about a boy surviving an Indian massacre (IIRC). >and is super strong due to being an alien That's fucking John Carter. The other half of Superman's identity that they didn't steal from Doc Savage pulps.
>>198349 >>198350 Also, Peach Boy is super strong, as well as Son Goku (You know, the character Goku is based upon).
>>198345 What the hell, one for the road and I'm out >Except Toriyama retconned it so he was particularly good at fighting specifically because he was an alien. No, that's not what he did. The retcon was that Goku's power kept rising abnormally due to him being an alien, due to the Zenkai boosts. Humans, after discovering Ki and how to harness it with Mutaito being the first, then his students Roshi and Tsurusen and later their students, they came to understand ki and how to harness it better and better to the point where the students of the students of the original master would far surpass the alien monsters of the cosmos that were naturally gifted with large amounts of ki and control over it. There was never the idea of Superman in it. >You say this as if this isn't also the case on Superman's version of Earth. Don't you fucking play coy with me fucko, you mentioned the movies and that's not the case in the movies. It was also not the case for Golden Age Superman either, even when DC was advertising about its other heroes, like the Spectre. The movies are what the nips knew, that's what they got, so Superman's "comicverse" was unknown to them in the 70s and 80s. They weren't interested in it in the first place, not even underground comics like GARO Magazine cared about them. >You have no idea how autistic I am for this shit. I know full well how autistic you are, you act exactly like one and it doesn't help because for all the memery about autism and higher intelligence, that's not how it works. You know half-shit. >ou're mad that it isn't as good a story as the Bardock special and other elements that were implied in the manga. Stop trying to do that. That's not why I'm mad. >My argument that Goku's origin was retconned to be Superman rests entirely on the things Raditz said in the initial retcon. Those things he said change an origin that previously was nothing like Superman to one that is now significantly like Superman. Additional elements would only come much later and have little to do with my argument either way. This is why I say you know half-shit and your autism is a hindrance. Nothing was ever retconned, the original "retcon" of DB if you wanna call it that was Goku going from a fully gag manga that parodied Journey to the West and would have ended there, given he "defeated" Ox King, the ultimate villain of the first part of JttW and would have done gag shit after that. The editor told Tori to make it more adventureous than that, so Tori changed it and you see that shift with the RR army. After that, DB started becoming more action-y and more serious and we get the "True Ox King", Piccolo Daimou, who's drawn like a Dragon Quest demon instead to hit home the "leader of an army of demons" feel Ox King had. Throughout that adventure however there was a theme of Toriyama's favourite series having small references and slowly morphing Dragon Ball to the franchise it is today. Series like >Mazinger Z >Getter Robo >Captain Harlock >Godmars an alien child that can fly and through ki beams and turn Golden? >Cyborg 009 the fights are close to how Joe Shimamura fights and Great Britain was fucking Oolong >Space Battleship Yamato >Nausicaa >Galaxy Express 999 >Gundam >Gatchaman >Macross >Space Knight Tekkaman >Ippatsuman >Casshern >Kamen Rider >Super Sentai >Baldios Toei even blatantly stole Baldios' special attack "Thunder Flash" for Paikuhan And so many more beyond the obvious trifecta of Saint Seiya-Hokuto no Ken-Kinnikuman that is more apparent to westerners. Heck, Toriyama may joke about his whole >I got bored of colouring the characters hair shit but his idea of the hero turning golden, hair raising etc was even showcased by Exkaiser a whole year before it appeared in the manga. Superman, like Terminator are the obvious influences to the western eyes since that's what (you) and others know better but they are, AT BEST, tertiary to the bigger things that shaped Dragon Ball and only became a thing because that's what the west kvetched about. Just like how they fucked Metroid to the ground because they kvetched about Samus being Ripley in Alien instead of realising that Samus was always motherfucking Jouji Minami at his angriest, the aliens and the space pirates where the Radam all along, to the point of Nintendo outright stealing some designs nd nobody raised a pip when Nintendo copied Getter Robo for the visuals of the Varia suit and its "Shine Spark". I say all that because ever since the RR army there's been a theme present in Dragon Ball, a theme of incorporating sci-fi elements in a very magical adventure to make it closer to the age it was written(80s-90s) and closer to the things Toriyama liked, namely machinery(the manga has a ton of machine porn at times because Tori loves that shit) and monsters. Goku didn't become a Superman expy in order to fit the Saiyans in; Goku's origins as a mythical being were subverted by introducing the sci-fi element of aliens, being from beyond the Earth, a sci-fi take on the Gods and Buddhas in the Jade Emperor's pallace. Dumbfucks however insisted on the Superman shit because that's the only vaguely sci-fi story they know and dumbfuck normalniggers never bother going beyond what they know. It is. Voltes V has a similar story with one of its bad guys, Godmars had a similar backstory for the first episode and then took a shit on it, it's not original and people who didn't even know of the Superman films before the Nip dub could come up with that shit. Your autism blinds you and you make connections where there are none because you're afraid to connect the actual dots beyond your western memories. >But the tone of Toriyama's stories also leaned away from the hardcore musclemen more into comedic and slice of life. It didn't because he wanted, it did out of him not giving a fuck after Bandai Namco and Korea cucked him over his time travelling, dimension spanning epic that was to be Dragon Ball Online, where in the year 1000, the player would have go from simply having an adventure like OG DB to uncovering a plot from the depths of the Demon Realm in a storyline more akin to Dragon Quest 1,2,3, Dai no Daibouken and DQ : Legend of Abel than anything else, beating demons, correcting history in epic battles with past foes, going beyond his limits and unlocking new limits of power until he faced of against the ironically named Mira and Towa, the two demons in charge of this, with the aim to resurrect Dabra, Towa's brother, and revive the demon realm in order to usurp Hell and defeat the Kais and enslave King Enma.
[Expand Post]None of this happened and only some vague plotpoints of it are used in Xenoverse, Heroes and even Toriyama's other projects >Cell Max is Cell X from DBO essentially >The whole "Piccolo Unleashed" shit is from DBO as well, Namekians have a "super namekian" form where their eyes glow red and their antenae are straightened like Orange Piccolos >Everyone's super strong since evryone knows about Ki since Gohan published his research as a scholar And so on. >Even Shallot there looks a lot twinkier than early '90s Dragon Ball. I can see why you say that, however Shallot is 17 in-game and he's buffer than Goku was when he was the same age. In fact, Goku was chunky at that age.

>>198352 Fuck, I sperged so much I forgot the most important thing of all : Manga, especially during the periods of 1930s-1990s were heavily inspired by Bande-Designe, italian comics and british theatre and british books. Capeshit inspiration, beyond some american films in the 80s, weren't even a thing in the formative years of Japan's most famed boomer creators. The closest thing to Star Wars being so mainstream back then in Japan to warrant everyone copying it was Uchuu Kara no Meseiji and that was it. Francobelgian characters and stories especially formed a large part of the visual identity of manga, from Asterix's giant round nose and huge wide eyes, to Cleopatra's thin chin that every single fuckign anime character has. The american influences started coming with the arrival of the 80s, with heavy metal from America instead of the usual rock and metal from britain, with cool album art than inspired people like Kazushi Hagiwara and tabletops and vidya such as Dungeons'n'Dragons and Wizardry, shaping the minds of young and upcoming mangaka. None of the things Toriyama was, he was already set in his ways by then like most men of the Showa era.

Does anyone remember all those Indian reaction channels that get spammed on 8kun /v/? I watched some of them and damn. These people are fucking stupid and shouldn’t be allowed to have nukes. Pakistanis' food reaction channels are just as stupid but at least have good personal hygiene despite Pakistani women looking like Klingons. The fact Indians and Pakistanis think 8kun worth shilling shows you how dumb these people are. I should know stupid. I live in Paris. Researching hindu riots and cow vigilante groups always end accidentally destroying Hindu neighborhoods. Incompetency and mixed of isolationism Indians kept Hindus from being as hatred as Islamic jihadists. But lucky for them Hindus that practice human sacrifices mostly just sacrifices other Hindu kids.
>>198354 Is the game being released on the PlayStation?
>>198350 >>198351 Yeah, so basically you do not have other characters that combine these elements in these ways. Some characters do A and some do B and some do C, but few do them all together. Yeah, Spider-Man isn't the only orphan, and he isn't the only character motivated by the death of a father figure, and he isn't even the first character to get superpowers from animal bites mixed with modern science (The Whizzer would be a previous example from Marvel, even), but the combination is all quite notable. If I saw another orphan who got bitten by some sort of science animal and then got animal powers, then was motivated to use them for good by the death of his adoptive parent, I'd call it Spider-Man. It's the combination. King Arthur and Peach Boy aren't space aliens, and John Carter isn't the last of his kind. Yeah, there are tons of strong aliens. Strong last of their kind aliens raised as humans on earth by old farmers? Much more specific. >>198352 >No, that's not what he did. The retcon was that Goku's power kept rising abnormally due to him being an alien You literally just rephrased what I said. Everything you said after is irrelevant, since this part you rephrased is my point. Most versions of Superman also don't have powers as a baby. (Though many do, admittedly.) His powers develop over time as well. Though it's irrelevant to my point, since "super strong since you're the last of your planet but raised by farmers as an earthling" is enough. You seem to be getting offended as if I'm saying the story has nothing original to it. Of course it does. The same way he did plenty of original stuff with the original Journey to the West premise, he still did plenty of original stuff once he retconned in Superman's origin. I love Dragon Ball, and I never even claimed any of its arcs are like any particularly notable Superman stories. (I mean I could if I wanted to, but it wouldn't be a serious argument.) But that origin has many notable and famous elements all coming together. If you're willing to say "adopted from other group of people" is enough to connect to Moses, and "strong because alien" is enough to connect to John Carter, then surely you can see why "super strong because last of his planet raised on earth by farmers" is enough to connect Superman and Goku. >Don't you fucking play coy with me fucko, you mentioned the movies and that's not the case in the movies. I mention the movies as the biggest example for the time, but it's not like they're the only famous Superman media. Admittedly I'm not Japanese and don't know just what stuff got famous over there, but there were many Superman cartoons since the '40s (and the ones from the '40s are some of the best animation of all time), and it's not out of the realm of possibility to think a comic book creator would be familiar with the most famous comic book character of all time, but that really isn't at all necessary for what I'm saying. It's not much of a stretch to know Superman fights monsters. Not that that's a particularly unique element. I'm just saying, it's not an element that differentiates them. And as for people knowing about it if the only know the movies, the movies involve aliens, clones, and a personification of nuclear bombs. And that Supergirl movie has a witch, but I don't think anyone watched that shit. >It was also not the case for Golden Age Superman either, even when DC was advertising about its other heroes, like the Spectre. That honestly changes quite early on. Even the earliest cartoons from 1940 have him fighting giant robots and giant birds and stuff. >so Superman's "comicverse" was unknown to them in the 70s and 80s. The comics don't really matter as much as the cartoons and live action stuff. And there was tons of that since 1940. Someone mentioned Superfriends earlier. Of course again, none of this is necessary since all I'm saying is that the origin stories line up.
>Nothing was ever retconned, the original "retcon" of DB if you wanna call it that was Goku going from a fully gag manga that parodied Journey to the West and would have ended there, given he "defeated" Ox King, the ultimate villain of the first part of JttW and would have done gag shit after that. That's not at all a retcon. Retcon is an abbreviation of Retroactive Continuity, which is when you introduce continuity that happened in the past but you never knew about it until now, hence it is retroactive. It is usually used in reference to things that weren't initially planned, rather than plot points that were planned but held over for a while to be a twist later. Saying "actually Goku was an alien this whole time but you never knew" is a retcon. Same as when it happened with Piccolo. >Superman, like Terminator are the obvious influences to the western eyes since that's what (you) and others know better but they are, AT BEST, tertiary to the bigger things that shaped Dragon Ball Never argued otherwise. You act like I'm denying other influences and references, or even saying that the Superman influence is particularly important to the themes or something. I'm not. But it's the same origin story. That's all I'm saying. And it's incredibly obvious. >Dumbfucks however insisted on the Superman shit because that's the only vaguely sci-fi story they know and dumbfuck normalniggers never bother going beyond what they know. No, it's because it's all the same elements of his origin story. Yeah, if he said Goku was bitten by a radioactive spider when he was a baby, I'm sure you could say it's all a play on themes of animism and shit, but also it's Spider-Man. Another super famous sci-fi story people know. You think I don't know Green Lantern? Hawkman? Martian Manhunter? The Flash? Fantastic Four? John Carter? Flash Gordon? Star Wars? Star Trek? I could go all day listing sci-fi stories. Nobody thinks of them when they think of Dragon Ball. But sure, that's because normalfag gaijin in the '90s were more familiar with Superman than Star Wars. Yeah right. That's why they saw the Superman connection instead of any other sci-fi. >Voltes V has a similar story with one of its bad guys, Godmars had a similar backstory for the first episode and then took a shit on it Oh, you mean two things that came out decades later. Both of which you even admit aren't substantial to the story. >Your autism blinds you and you make connections where there are none because you're afraid to connect the actual dots beyond your western memories. You say as you deny the main character, one of the most famous characters of the 20th century, his entire origin story, but readily substitute what you already admit to be minor elements of two other shows that came decades later (as if they also couldn't be influenced by it). I also question how similar they are, but I'm not gonna stop arguing with you to go and find which bad guy you're talking about from Voltes V and actually watch the episode before I reply. Because again, it's irrelevant to my point. You've reached and reached and now you're really grasping at straws to try to find characters who share this origin, only to find ones from decades after the one I'm talking about, which is much more famous and important to its own story, which had internationally famous adaptations at the time in question. >Dragon Ball Online Yeah, I wish we would just get a good manga adaptation of that stuff. The manga based on the video games is fucking crazy, so to imagine what it would be like if it was actually one story and made more structural sense is a big tease. I'd even be tempted to play the MMO if I could play it in English, even though I know the gameplay would bore me to tears. >>198353 Seems odd that you'd leave out Tezuka's influence on the industry, and Disney's influence on him. Anyway, Pacific Rim obviously isn't at all inspired by Japanese kaiju and mecha stories. It's obviously inspired by Transformers. And while we're at it, we'll also pretend Transformers isn't directly inspired by Japanese stuff. We'll try to downplay it by pointing out that Micro Man was technically a GI Joe variant anyway, and I'll reference those Mechanical Monsters that Superman fought back in that 1940 cartoon. Anything to deny the obvious fucking influence that kaiju and mecha had on Pacific Rim.
>>198354 I'm going to hope that's just empty PR speak. Given the game's release is in a few weeks I doubt they could actually do much at this point from a practical perspective (people always vastly underestimate how long it takes to make changes to a game), but it's definitely worth keeping an eye on. The dev is an outright retard for not simply ignore the fake backlash mostly done by bots, regardless.

>>198358 >If I saw another orphan who got bitten by some sort of science animal and then got animal powers, then was motivated to use them for good by the death of his adoptive parent, I'd call it Spider-Man. It's funny that you say that because, one of the biggest TV shows that people have referred it as a "Spider-Man rip-off" is Danny Phantom. A "superhero" series about a kid who isn't an orphan, didn't gain his powers from an animal bite, and isn't motivated to use them beyond reasons relating to the "family business" or them effecting his own life.
>>197963 thanks anon this video is the shit, i missed it

>>198358 >You literally just rephrased what I said. No, he didn't. Skill and power are two separate things. >and it's not out of the realm of possibility to think a comic book creator would be familiar with the most famous comic book character of all time Superman is not the "most famous comic character of all time". To even state as such discounts even newspaper strips (Which Supes was a part of for a while) such as Dilbert, Calvin and Hobbs, Peanuts, Flash Grdon, and Popeye; and even popular comics from Europe such as Tintin, Asterix, and the Smurfs. Worldwide, he isn't even the "most popular" capeshit character as that title belongs to Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, and Batman/Iron Man. That's also forgetting the fact that many of the so-called "traits" of American superheroes even supersedes them with Japanese characters such as Ougan Bat appearing far earlier.
>>198366 What kind of cuck-ass nation considers scarlet witch a hero, much less their favourite one? >india Why must you have such constant shit taste? Not even her husband likes her anymore, besides being an incestous bitch.

>>198363 And I wouldn't say it's particularly Spider-Man, however, people say it because it shares the high school setting and some tonal similarities with the hugely popular Spider-Man movie series that was coming out at the time. Spider-Man is a notable "regular high school kid becomes superhero" thing, and was particularly popular at the time. But as you point out, it doesn't share many other similarities beyond that. >>198366 >No, he didn't. Skill and power are two separate things. Not in this context, where the skill is "to be strong." Yeah, he had to train, but his alien heritage is still given credit for his ability in the story. Most Superman stories also say he trains. It's not like they portray him as a lazy bum who just happens to have it easy. >Superman is not the "most famous comic character of all time". Not anymore. In the '80s it was a different story. For an obvious example of how, note how you referenced Iron Man, who even Americans didn't care about until Robert Downey Jr. played him in 2008. Your list is based on modern capeshit movies. In the 1980s, the only notable capeshit movies were Superman (who again had an almost constant stream of movies and tv shows, both live action and animated, going back to 1940), and the only other capeshit characters any normalfags would know are Batman, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, The Hulk, and maybe they'd recognize Captain America but not even recognize he's a comic book character and instead think he's some sort of Uncle Sam poster character. Now of course in Japan I highly doubt any of these characters were anywhere close to the most popular. But Superman most of all would certainly be well known. And especially when you're talking about creators in the same medium, it's ridiculous to give them that much credit when they use the same origin story. Like yeah, normalfags over here don't know who Ultraman is. But if a tv show came out where the superhero grows giant to fight giant monsters every episode, it would be absurd to link it to other things while vehemently denying the Ultraman connection. >>198369 Britain shows Wonder Woman on that map. >>198374 Wait, people eat restaurant food more than packaged/frozen food? I think these stats are wrong based on people not knowing what "from scratch" means and that option therefore taking up many of the packaged/frozen numbers. >>198376 >Not even in the past. Superman comics were being beaten by FUCKING CAPTAIN MARVEL because the sales were so low. No, they were beaten by Captain Marvel because Captain Marvel sales were so high. In the early 1950s. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, and Aquaman were the only capeshit characters to not get cancelled in the 1950s. Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman were the only ones to actually keep having their own series. (Green Arrow and Aquaman got relegated to spots in anthology series.) The Superman theatrical cartoons, radio show, movies, tv live action show (which was so successful they tried to do a spinoff where you only see Superman in stock footage and from behind because the star died but they wanted to keep going. Also they tried to do a version where they were dogs.), and various tv cartoons, not to mention the later 1970s/1980s movies, were all big sellers. In fact even after that they kept trying, with a Superboy tv show, followed immediately by a Superman tv show, followed almost immediately by another Superboy tv show only this time they don't call him Superboy, followed by a Supergirl tv show, and then another Superman tv show. And two more movies, and more cartoons, and Justice League stuff. There is so much Superman shit and there wouldn't be if he wasn't once a money maker. Granted, after Superman IV sucked ass and bombed, and Batman and other movies came out and were good, Superman lost most of his cultural cache, but to act like Superman didn't used to be a popular character is absurd. >In fact, when Image started, they blew Marvel and DC's sales out of the water. Not to mention the fact that random capeshit like Shadow Man was even proving to be more popular than Spider-Man. That wasn't a continuation of Captain Marvel. Not in any way. What it was was creators finally starting to get credit for their work, but not rights over their work, so they went and made their own company. And it worked briefly. And then fizzled out quickly. And now the only things anyone remembers from them are Spawn and maybe Savage Dragon. Actually, no, nobody remembers Savage Dragon. >Shadow Man Dude, that's a good game and everything, but nobody gives a flying fuck about it beyond the game. I'm pretty sure most people who like the game aren't even aware it's based on anything. And the game, while good and remembered by a cult audience, was never anywhere near as popular as Spider-Man. What an absurd claim to make. >>198380 >My interest in Iron Man predates that with the Ultimate Avengers film from 2006. Even then, there was the Iron Man cartoon in the 90's. Yeah I like that movie too. But let's not pretend it was a super big deal or anything. It's nothing normalfags were aware of. And that cartoon from the '90s is comically awful. They tried to retool it after a disastrous first season and it still got cancelled. There was also an Iron Man show in the '60s, but let's not pretend it and the others that went with it, like Namor and Hulk, where anywhere near as successful as Spider-Man and shows people actually liked and remembered. >What about Batman and the fucking Hulk?!? Hulk wasn't a movie, but I did specifically mention Hulk elsewhere as being one of the famous ones. Wonder Woman would be in the same vein. And you're right, Batman was '89. I was thinking when Raditz was introduced, which was slightly before then. I should have worded myself better. Batman '89's cultural impact was really felt in the '90s. >Punisher, Howard the Duck, The Spirit, and Swamp Thing; bot to mention leftovers from the 70's, such as Captain America, Dr. Strange and Spider-Man. All of those were forgettable bombs (not that I don't even like some of them, but they did not have significant cultural impact). Spider-Man was a tv show but a failure of a tv show. Of course he was still mega successful due to cartoons, but not due to that tv show. People didn't and still don't even recognize that Swamp Thing is a comic book character. I'm pretty sure they thought and continue to think it's just a generic swamp monster and would go with other classic monsters like the Creature from the Black Lagoon. >>198381 Well yeah but not in the '80s. The comics got big in the '90s but adaptations are '90s and 2000s.
>>198384 No it isnt, i get that marvel is shit now and deserves the constant critique it gets, may it shut down, but it wasnt always that way, and x-men was much more interesting then MHA.
>>198377 nice use of css, i nearly loled at that but I'm in public and shouldn't
>>198387 Fucking no. It's not. Never was. Because there's never been a point to X-men comics. They just go on forever repeating the same plots. Just like the rest of american capeshit. You don't have to like manga but it's an objective fact MHA clears every big two capeshit comic easily just by nature of actually having a plot that matters.
>>198386 https://morningconsult.com/2022/04/04/when-how-consumers-cooking-2022/ I think you're right, I think anything like cooking pasta + emptying a pasta jar would be counted as "from scratch." >>198395 >The Dark Phoenix is shit because it just won't fucking go away. Yes, but The Dark Phoenix Saga was good. Obviously X-Men now is an irredeemable mess. But it's older stories are still good. But yes, X-Men is probably the one comic that is so fucked up that I don't think any amount of retcons or cosmic reality warping can ever fix the way the characters have been broken. >Spectacular Spider-Man Very good show, but not as good as the one from the '90s. I watched the whole Marvel '90s animated universe recently, and followed it with Spectacular Spider-Man. >X-Men One of the best cartoons ever made. Great artstyle and very good plots, though it's unfortunate that it doesn't want to do multi-part arcs in Season 1, and uses up some of the cool stories from the comics in that season. But those episodes are still enjoyable. >Spider-Man One of the best cartoons ever made. The long multi-part arcs do a great job at adapting the feeling of the actual comics. The stories end, but they take as much time as they need, which is usually four or five episodes. Not too long, but long enough to get developed quite thoroughly. >Fantastic Four Season 1 Laughably bad. So bad it looks like it was made bad on purpose, as a joke. >Fantastic Four Season 2 Significantly retooled and now actually good, but not as good as X-Men or Spider-Man. Not helped by the fact that many of the most famous stories, like the Galactus Trilogy, were already adapted badly in Season 1 >Iron Man Season 1 is god awful shit. Season 2 is better but not as good as Fantastic Four Season 2. >The Incredible Hulk Season 1 is actually pretty good, but again, not on the level of X-Men or Spider-Man. Season 2 was ruined, but not as bad as Fantastic Four or Iron Man season 1. >Spider-Man Unlimited Retarded, but watchable. It's fine. >Avengers: United They Stand Sucks, but not laughably bad like Fantastic Four or Iron Man Season 1. Spectacular Spider-Man is great, but not even close to X-Men or Spider-Man. But it's leagues better than anything else from that universe.

He was played by a wwf wrestler, got those fans to watch. (I agree that Supes was THE iconic genre-defining superhero from the 40s into the 80s, spider man got popular in the 70s with the cartoon that sucked but everyone remembers the theme, then Batman and X-Men got more popular in the late '80s and early '90s when their quality went up, when any American from those generations thinks of superheroes they think of "Superman and everyone else", his profile dropped after the Death of Superman arc so Americans born in the '90s might see him as just one of the many on the market)

>>198403 Is this supposed to be humorous? This ever waning anglo franchise and its desperate attempts to remain relevant while milking their cash cows with ludicrously expensive merchandise will never not disgust me.
>>198402 That's the heart of the problem, triple capeshit autist. No matter how good one storyline was in the past, it doesn't matter when you look at the larger picture & realize none of it matters when nothing really matters in comics. A story needs to have structure. That means eventually they need to end. Going on forever in stagnation is why comics as a whole are impossible for new readers to get into. Then the festering rot of wokeness drove away anyone that already read them. That's why something as simple as a shonen series is better than the whole american industry.
>>198386 >Dude, that's a good game and everything, but nobody gives a flying fuck about it beyond the game. I'm pretty sure most people who like the game aren't even aware it's based on anything. And the game, while good and remembered by a cult audience, was never anywhere near as popular as Spider-Man. What an absurd claim to make. https://infogalactic.com/info/Shadowman_(comics) <Shadowman debuted in 1992 as a flagship title in the Valiant Universe and quickly became one of the industry’s most popular comic books. After just one year in publication, Shadowman was selling over 100,000 comics books a month. By its second year, Shadowman was outselling long-standing industry stalwarts from Marvel Comics and DC Comics including Batman, Iron Man, The Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Ghost Rider, and even the Justice League of America. <Shadowman continued strongly with sales in the hundreds of thousands of books per month (ultimately selling more than 5 million copies altogether) until 1996 when Acclaim Entertainment, which bought Valiant for $65 million, started a new Shadowman series under the Acclaim Comics banner.

>>197969 Makes me think of Lavos. >>198366 That's because Supes is fucking boring. He was way better in the Golden Age/Fleisher era where he was just a super-strong guy like Captain America would later be, but he didn't have the shield gimmick. As soon as capeshit heroes started having the ability to just fly everywhere, they started becoming so powerful that the only way to present them with a challenge was to resort to increasingly absurd sets of circumstances and enemies. >>198426 >>198429 No one has done a better live action Batman than Tim Burton.
>>198429 The "realism" was what made it so good. TDKR wasn't that great due to a pretty nonsensical overall plot that failed to do a good enough job tying together its good-quality pieces, but the first two films presented Buttman in a way that I could almost believe it. They took the package that is Batman's origin, which is mostly retarded on its face, and did it in such a way as to have people nodding along in their theatre seats. That's rare. "Plausible reality" trumps "suspension of disbelief" as a quality metric in fiction. At least IMO. The movie you might be looking for is Batman and Robin.
>>198416 The first game, no. That's why Nintendo had to provide the funds to even get the concept of a second game off the ground. For the second game, it didn't seem to sell all that well, but it's possible that Platinum has enough talent that they can spin thread into gold and deliver on AAA experiences with shoe-string budgets. >>198417 >but this somehow makes something that was good retroactivly shit because it wasnt shut down after it was published Yes, it does, because it taints everything that came prior, knowing that all of the prior struggle is leading up to pointless. Not even a footnote of something like a "peace era" in the story were everything is right with the world. >>198419 >As soon as capeshit heroes started having the ability to just fly everywhere, they started becoming so powerful that the only way to present them with a challenge was to resort to increasingly absurd sets of circumstances and enemies. As I've seen some /co/ autists explain, that WAS Supes' bread and butter for years. That, despite all his strength and powers, he kept encountering scenarios that could not defeat his greatest weakness: that he was only one man. So, the stories developed around him trying to think his way out of the scenario. In fact, the irony of Superman is that his greatest foe isn't Brainiac (A supercomputer God), Darksied (A literal God on the mortal), nor Mr. Mxyzptlk (A god-like wizard from the 5th dimension); it's fucking Lex Luthor (A normal man who's only power is that he's smart and rich). However, modern writers ignore this and just think that the only way to make Superman stories "interesting" is by ripping from the Dragon Ball school-of-thought and introduce stronger and stronger villains.
>>198430 Tim Burton was awful too. His Joker was on point for being the absolute closest to comic accurate but he made Batman a gleeful killer. >>198431 The realism sucked because Nolan couldn't even commit to it.
>>198417 >Then you know jackshit and are pretending that somehow someone else is retarded for liking something you dont. You sound flustered
>>198432 >Yes, it does, because it taints everything that came prior, knowing that all of the prior struggle is leading up to pointless. Not even a footnote of something like a "peace era" in the story were everything is right with the world. Then most videogames are shit because current year released shit sequels, dont you realize how absurd this argument is? Is command and conquer shit because red alert 3 and kane's wrath? Is battlefield 1942 shit because of battlefield V? Is X-com shit because xcom chimera squad? >>198434 I just dont like pedantic cunts.
>>198435 >pedantic >Pedantic is an insulting word used to describe someone who annoys others by correcting small errors, caring too much about minor details, or emphasizing their own expertise especially in some narrow or boring subject matter. That isn't what I did.
>>648040 I like The Batman more than any of the other live action MOVIE Batmen. Probably because I can actually understand him & he isn't a killer. That said the movie still does the typical reinvention of everything. Penguin is a big fat mobster, Riddler is Anarky, Catwoman's a niggress spouting shit about "white privilege", Gordon's a nigger, & Joker is a physically disfigured tryhard played by some retarded twink instead of a chaotic clown. Battinson & Alfred carry the movie. Everything else I'm not a fan of. Even the prototype batsuit isn't great. Even worse when he glides like a flying squirrel.
>>198405 >Hulk had a popular TV show in the early '80s. He was played by a wwf wrestler, got those fans to watch. Yes, that tv show is awesome. One of my favorites. Also, Lou Ferrigno was not a wrestler. He was a bodybuilder. >Spider-Man cartoon '60s, not '70s. But the popularity continued. >Batman Don't forget the '60s tv show. >>198408 >end They do, then some have sequels. >Going on forever in stagnation is why comics as a whole are impossible for new readers to get into. No, overreliance on continuity is the reason. In the '80s there were already 50 years of continuity, but people could understand new stuff just fine, despite using continuity a fair amount. But It's the way it's done, where they no longer explain stuff or present it in a way new readers would understand. That and the length of stories has gotten too long. They do end, but usually not for six to twelve issues, and that's too fucking long for a single story. >>198409 >Shadow Man Note that Spider-Man isn't on your list. Also note that Batman isn't even Batman's main series, Detective Comics is. And at that time, Batman would have also had Legends of the Dark Knight and probably a few other spinoffs. I doubt the 3+ Batman series combined sold less than Shadow Man. I'll also note that Justice League was famously the Justice League International at the time, the time when they weren't allowed to use any of the characters people liked, so the Justice League consisted of characters like Blue Beetle and Booster Gold. A fan/cult favorite now, but definitely not something that sold well or even registers as being the real Justice League. As for Iron Man, nobody gave a fuck about Iron Man back then. But if it actually sold more than Fantastic Four and Hulk, I'm a little more surprised. But I also know little about their comics at the time. Still, none of this is on the level of the real heavy hitters like Spider-Man or Batman. The guys who are so big they have at least three series per month starring them (which means they're really one series published at least three times a month, but in a more confusing fashion because publishers are retarded). >>198415 >Spawn >2012 Spawn Well there's your problem. Go read the original run. Also, Al Simmons is one of the characters who actually did die and stay dead, as you're referencing, so it's weird that you'd use that as an example of exactly the opposite. >>198419 >increasingly absurd sets of circumstances and enemies. That's precisely what makes Superman fun though. It's a fun sci-fi series. Casuals don't know because the movies never have him do what he does in the majority of comics, which is fight aliens (you know, ones who aren't Zod), robots, and monsters. It's classic sci-fi. With a touch of philosophy and metatextual wankery when you get a writer who is into that. >"every story starts off as some bizarre coming-of-age thing and ends with a hundred arcs of fistfighting Cthulu on the surface of the sun. Its lame." >coming-of-age That's just the origin story. Superman has a good origin story, but yeah, it's been done more than any other character. Way more times than needed. There's a whole ten season tv show that is all origin story. The original Superboy comic ran for 40 years and was arguably one 40 year long origin story. But I love fistfighting Cthulu on the surface of the sun. That type of shit is awesome. >>198420 >now Well nobody is going to argue with you there. Everyone knows modern X-Men is one of the worst things to ever exist. >>198432 >Not even a footnote of something like a "peace era" in the story were everything is right with the world. But that does happen. It happens every few months, actually. Also, there are tons of series that do end, characters that do die. Also also, the whole Marvel Universe died in 2015 in Secret Wars 2, and everything since doesn't count. >However, modern writers ignore this and just think that the only way to make Superman stories "interesting" is by ripping from the Dragon Ball school-of-thought and introduce stronger and stronger villains. Granted, I haven't read in a couple years, but that isn't really the case. What modern Superman writers do is very much the first thing you described, mixed with occasional metatextual wankery. Stories where it's about Superman powering up and punching harder than the other guy are very rare.
[Expand Post] >>648040 I heard Catwoman, who they made black, criticises Batman for being a "straight while male." I also doubt they do this with the intent of making her look bad. >>198437 >Penguin is a big fat mobster, This has been the status quo for decades. Hardly a reinvention anymore.
>>198435 >Then most videogames are shit because current year released shit sequels, dont you realize how absurd this argument is? I did not say, nor imply, that. I said that it taints the experiences of prior works that came before it, and it does. Take for example the situation of the Sonic games. Playing through the Genesis and Dreamcast are games sets up such great potential about what Sega could do with the series. Then you jump into everything that they've made after Sonic '06, and it's a waste that tosses all of the work of the prior games out of the windows. And, yes, you can still go back and play the original games, and have fun with those, but that doesn't stop the feeling of dread that the people creating the newer games have zero interest in furthering the work that people loved. It would actually be quite better if companies just abandoned franchise and moved on like Nintendo has with F-Zero.
>>198433 I said he was the best so far not that he was perfect.

>>198438 People don't want endless shit separated by storylines. They want an actual story with arcs that follows a linear narrative that's easy to follow. Continuity isn't the problem. They want an actual story with arcs that follows a linear narrative that's easy to follow. Arcs and storylines are the same thing, idiot. >easy to follow That's a problem with publication format. I agree with you that it's a very serious problem. They're trying to tell long stories with short magazines all put together, published out of order sometimes because they'll have multiple series about the same character published at the same time but in the same continuity. It's ridiculous. But when you look at it later and can just put them all in order, then that isn't a problem. It's not a problem with the actual stories, but the publication. Don't worry. The stories can have their own problems. >Continuity isn't the problem. Lack of consistent continuity, over reliance on retcons, & not letting the world change with time is the problem. Continuity isn't the problem, the storytelling style that makes it so you are required to already know the old continuity in order to understand the current story is the problem. Until the '80s the continuity was referenced but they'd do it in a way where if you didn't read the old story you could still keep up. In the late '80s that began to change, and now they don't even try. >A TALL big fat mobster. Not a short fat mobster. What about Burgess Meredith? He was a skinny Penguin and he was good.
>>648040 Anon I appreciate your thoughts, but I watched that intro like you asked, and here's what I think. >Boring. >The MC looks like a guy cosplaying Batman in a Neflix original series. >The edginess sounds less like he's Batman and more like he's LARPing as The Shadow yes I know. >The music felt out of place to me. >At the end he slugs the badguy and the other 10 don't instantly dogpile him and beat him to death. At least throw a flashbang or something. The NT made a point of showcasing Batman's fighting style as one based on brawling within touch distance against multiple opponents. Not Power Rangers style where he fights one guy as six more do acrobatic moves in the background for the sake of the camera. It just feels low budget. I sense effort. They tried. But that intro is not appealing.
>>648040 I liked this movie simply because Batman was doing the shit he should have always done, be a fucking detective, like going out and detecting shit not flying all over the city with hi tech gadgets like fucking ironman.
>>198438 >Go read the original run. I did. The comic should have ended after Spawn created the new world with She-Jesus. >Also, Al Simmons is one of the characters who actually did die and stay dead, as you're referencing, so it's weird that you'd use that as an example of exactly the opposite. Because it retconned the fact that Malbogia, the Violator, and everything else related to Hell was sealed off in another universe and that humanity was free from the war between God and Satan. Not to mention special CIA projects where they're somehow involved in angelic affairs (Despite that no longer being an issue). >>198442 Even then, if there is enough consistency, people will tend to excuse some blatant plot holes. One example I can refer to is the show Andromeda, where some of the character motivations and works of the universe begin to vastly differ compared to the end of the series (Specifically, everything concerning Trance). >>198444 >So you admit the old ones are still good. That's the point. The point is that the older works become tainted by the existence of newer works that insult everything that came prior. If you would like another example, I had to take a break from everything related to Star Wars for a few years because of how the new trilogy painted my perception of the prequels and original trilogy. >Arcs and storylines are the same thing, idiot. No, they're not. Arcs are individual events in an overarching story. Storylines are the order by which said arcs occur. >But when you look at it later and can just put them all in order No, you can't, because you need a fucking flow chart to figure out what occurs to which characters and when. If you want an "Easy mode" version of this, just look up the Archie Sonic comic, and how it ties in with the numerous one-off specials (Including an Image Comics and Archie Comics crossover), the various character mini-series, the Knuckles comic, the Sonic X comic, the Sonic Universe comic, the Mega Man comic, and the Sonic Boom comic. >>198446 >Batman was doing the shit he should have always done, be a fucking detective Did you miss the second Nolan film where he does actual detective shit?

>>198449 Too be fair, they all have video games.
>>648071 I genuinely can't tell if you're joking or not. Penguin does not have more nuance. He has less. Penguin in the comics is basically an evil Bruce Wayne. Old money rich family type that turned evil with a wicked bird motif. Riddler is also way less interesting. Riddler in the comics is fun because he's just an autistic weirdo that wants to prove he's smarter than everyone. Getting increasingly foiled by Batman drives him up the fucking wall. He should not be an Anarky style revenge against the rich type character. Even The Batman cartoon version of Riddler is better. He wanted revenge too but on a former colleague who betrayed him & stole his research. This new Joker is trying to hard in the design department & just copying Heath Ledger's performance. Which I hated. Joker, like Batman, should be simple & sleek. Not trying so hard to make him scary you lose the clown motif.
>>198447 >Even then, if there is enough consistency, people will tend to excuse some blatant plot holes. This. Because quality is more important than continuity. Continuity is a tool to be able to tell a richer story by referencing events told in other stories. If you can tell a good story without it, then good. Stuff that happens in the future can't matter because it can't impact the continuity in the story you're reading for good or ill, since it wasn't part of what the author was using to write his story. >No, they're not. Arcs are individual events in an overarching story. Storylines are the order by which said arcs occur. No, a storyline is the order in which events occur. Storylines are when multiple stories happen in sequence in an ongoing series, which is the same as an arc. >No, you can't, because you need a fucking flow chart to figure out what occurs to which characters and when. You're exaggerating but only a little, and you're only reinforcing my point. I'm agreeing with you that the way they're published is bullshit. >>198448 >People kinda have to excuse plotholes because there's so much random comics you have to read to fully understand the history they'll still retcon but expect you to know anyway. It's kind of the opposite. The important ones are few and far between. Rarely is some random issue just referenced, and even more rarely is it important to have actually read it. Usually when stuff like that happens it's some autistic writer doing it for the sake of it, but that's rare. What's more common is a few major arcs and moments being important to a lot of stuff later, and the things that have happened in the last year or so being important to whatever is happening currently, because it's common for stories to take a whole year to be published now. >>648071 >Batman started out as a partly crime detective >partly Batman debuted in Detective Comics #27, and eventually took over the Detective Comics series entirely, in addition to getting multiple other magazine series dedicated entirely to him.
>>648071 >Go watch you yearly marvel capeshits if you want your $10000000000000000 dollar budget ADHD shitfests for toddlers. If I wanted to consume dogshit I'd have dinner at yer mum's house. Let me tell you, while she sure isn't the prettiest thing that ever worked in a whorehouse, there's no hooker out there who can handle a man better. I reckon its because of her decades and decades of experience. That she picked up in Africa. Marvel movies are shit. Only Iron Man 1 was kinda cool and Thanos is basically a Globalist which is why the movies worked so hard to make people sympathize with him instead of just letting him be evil.
>>648080 >Anon I merely have a different opinion than you is that so hard to believe? No, it's your tone and voice. It sounds like you're sarcastically trolling.

>>198452 >Stuff that happens in the future can't matter because it can't impact the continuity in the story you're reading for good or ill, since it wasn't part of what the author was using to write his story. And, what about when they do brief "flashbacks" into a future of the characters story, for the purposes of creating interest into why they became that way, only to then ignore that storyline? >Storylines are when multiple stories happen in sequence in an ongoing series, which is the same as an arc. No, it is not. The Cell Saga is a story arc within the overall storyline of the Dragon Ball series, it does NOT encompass the entire series. The different tournaments in Yu Yu Hakusho are story arcs that all play into the series' storyline. Onizuka having to individually deal with each student in GTO are all different story arcs that play into the overall storyline of the series. >Rarely is some random issue just referenced, and even more rarely is it important to have actually read it. Isn't there a recent DC Universe crossover comic that needs to you know about several one-off comics that are already a decade old at this point, and were so uneventful when they came out that they have never have been referenced outside of their initial print? > and eventually took over the Detective Comics series entirely It wasn't "eventual", everything after DC#26 was entirely Batman. >>198453 The best MCU films were the first Iron Man and Hulk. >>648080 >Bro thats so fucking boring. I could give less of a shit about a character like that. If that were the case, then why was the Riddler Batman's main nemesis in the extremely popular 60's series with Adam West? >Nigger he was only on screen for a few minutes and he does what the joker does best, play mind games and get under the batmans skin, what the fuck did you expect? For Joker to be the clown prince of crime. >And since you said that he was like Heath Ledger thats an amazing complement No, it's not, when EVERY version of Joker that's been made since Nolan's The Dark Knight has been a pale imitation of Ledger's performance. That's part of why people Joker become such a hit, it was something different after all of the Ledger imitations. Even then, the Joker's copying off of Ledger's performance fail to understand that he wasn't a murdering psychopath.
>>198456 >And, what about when they do brief "flashbacks" into a future of the characters story, for the purposes of creating interest into why they became that way, only to then ignore that storyline? If it's actually intended to be something they catch up to but they just forget to do that, if they actually just fuck up foreshadowing, then it's a bad story, because that's one story. If it's a flash forward for the sake of a story and the story ends but later sequels don't follow that, then it doesn't change the old story. The old story is still as good as it always was. >The Cell Saga is a story arc within the overall storyline of the Dragon Ball series, it does NOT encompass the entire series. Yes. It is a storyline, AKA an arc. Both can technically be used to refer to the whole series if you want, but that also isn't how both are usually used, especially in the contexts we were using them. The Death and Return of Superman is a story arc within the overall storyline of the Superman series. It does not encompass the whole series. >Isn't there a recent DC Universe crossover comic that needs to you know about several one-off comics that are already a decade old at this point, and were so uneventful when they came out that they have never have been referenced outside of their initial print? Is there? Nobody reads modern comics anymore. Even compared to a few years ago, when everyone already thought the audience couldn't shrink any further. >It wasn't "eventual", everything after DC#26 was entirely Batman. Well that's just not true. https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Detective_Comics_Vol_1_27 There are tons of other stories in 27, and if you click over to the next bunch of issues, you'll see the same thing, for many years.
>he wasn't a murdering psychopath. Well he "was." Just not really. A big part of Ledger's masterstroke in playing The Joker was that he actually caught the character's psychopathic duality. "I'm not gonna stab you, Joe" he says as he's stabbing Joe, but he still means it. Joker is the ultimate hypocrite. He laughs at the very concept of hypocrisy. He does, and he talks, and there is no immediate connection between the two, except you always find out too late that they were actually tied together in service of some overarching plan of his. A plan he follows even while shitting on, and acting against, the very concept of plans. He's everywhere and nowhere at once, like the evil counterpart of a Zen Buddhist, and laughing at everything including himself the entire time. He's so insane its a superpower. Ledger somehow caught enough of that to show through, while also adding an air of menace that previous Joker incarnations lacked. I'd even argue that Burton's Joker was only menacing in terms of the film's lighting and aesthetic and Jack Nicholson's voice than anything he really said or did. Ledger's Joker was evil and creepy, but sacrificed none of the insanity, and even worked in the meta like the intersection blocked by a burning FIRE truck.

It's true Tezuka is important culturally in the "manga revolution" but people forget that while loved, Tezuka was influential for the stories he told, not the artstyle he had. The only people who still true to emulate an artstyle like his, are those who do kemono shows. "Students" of his like Ishinomori Shotaro, Go Nagai(also an assistant to Ishinomori), Mitsuteru Yokoyama and even people who were simply inspired by Tezuka, like Hayao Miyazaki, Monkey Punch, Katsuhiro Otomo and others, have etched their influence in the artistic spirit of manga far more than Tezuka ever did. Most of the people cited here, still have their artstyles emulated to this day. And they looked to sources that were different than what Tezuka saw, which was Bambi, Betty Boop and some Mickey comics. I didn't put Cyborg 009 as a random example in there.

(platinum lead on x360 and sega was to handle the ps3... everything was fucked) even though most fans of the game ended up playing a busted version it sold well enough to be considered a modest success. platinum (for some reason) thought started work on Bayonetta 2. at some point in development SEGA decided to pull out on Bayonetta 2 and leave platinum holding the bag. platinum asked Sony and Microsoft if they wanted exclusive Bayonetta 2 for funding it. both passed. Nintendo said yes and the rest is history. (Sega owns Bayonetta they just don't want to spend any money on it, Nintendo basically got two big name action games for half price, both tittles have sold hardware so its worked out fine for them).

She was killing me slowly by telling me the backstories to all the characters, and I realized - super hero comics are just soap operas with tights and punching, marketed to dorks and kids that don't know any better. Now that doesn't mean that comics can't have good stories, or that I couldn't enjoy them after that, but I really gravitated heavily towards one-off stories that have clear beginnings, middles, and proper endings. I guess I kind of became a snob for story structure, which comics don't have in the monthlys and it makes them a goddamned mess. I was primed to get into Manga, but honestly I never really bothered with them aside from Hellsing.

Do you think Star Trek V doesn't have an ending just because Star Trek VI exists? Of course it has an ending. Most stories are multi-part arcs now, but they still end. Then they do sequels. Originally each story was less than a full issue and they would have multiple different stories in each issue. >>198570 Here. Stop requesting porn every thread, you're annoying.
Is it just me or are most of the hentai boards in this site run by a small cabal of BOs?
>>198572 I know the BO of /delicious/, /sm/, /loli/ and /tot/ made an "alliance" long ago where they became vols in each others' boards to fight trolls and spam, but that's it. I don't know who owns all the other porn boards (/tkr/, /vore1/, /abdl/, /interracial/, /2dblacked/, /Bleached/, /rule34/, /ero/, /h/, /ss/, /trapshota/, /fur/, /gts/, /hyper/, etc.)
>>198573 >I know the BO of /delicious/, /sm/, /loli/ and /tot/ made an "alliance" long ago where they became vols in each others' boards to fight trolls and spam Ah so that explains the weird cross pollination. On a somewhat related note, is /delicious/ still heavily moderated to the point where you can't call a black character a 'nigger' without getting permanently banned for 'trolliing'? To be honest it all sounds pretty gay and nepotistic, no wonder they have to artificially inflate activity to their boards with porn dumping since they kill shitposting
>>648385 You are going off on a completely unrelated tangent and bringing up something that I don't care about, At no point in your rambling, incoherent response was there anything that could even be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
>>198575 okay let me spell it out for you retard. you aren't going to get an answer unless you post yourself and find out because nobody else is.

>>198574 >On a somewhat related note, is /delicious/ still heavily moderated to the point where you can't call a black character a 'nigger' without getting permanently banned for 'trolliing'? Dunno, I have never felt the need to call somebody a nigger while masturbating to loli porn. At most I've seen them delete loli-pedo derails like the nigger that just came to this thread. >To be honest it all sounds pretty gay and nepotistic, no wonder they have to artificially inflate activity to their boards with porn dumping since they kill shitposting I think the problem is that most users aren't used to talk while fapping. They just enter a thread, save or fap to various images, and leave. This is a behavior that most imagedump boards have regardless of their home site. Even on 4chan that kind of boards are extremely slow compared to other parts of the site.
>>198577 if you want to see what schizophrenia actually looks like give the meta thread a visit.
>>198570 Forced meme that never caught on outside this website
>>198578 >Dunno, I have never felt the need to call somebody a nigger while masturbating to loli porn I wasn't calling someone a nigger, I was calling a character a nigger (because it was a nigger male from a western cartoon). Lo and behold, half an hour later I had my posts board wide wiped and I was permanently banned for 'trolling' >I think the problem is that most users aren't used to talk while fapping. This is a discussion imageboard, if you post something at least try and interact. Surely that could be done, /delicious/ is a terrible board and it only exists imo to inflate the ego of the Board Owner and his volunteers over getting some third rate baraag artist to shill his fanbox by fulfilling the absolutely retarded requests made there. I would even go as far as to say that many of the posters aren't particularly articulate when it comes to the English language. Horrible board all around, furthermore this site is absolutely languid and holding on to dear life after so much splintering that there's hardly anyone around outside from this thread.
>>198581 >I wasn't calling someone a nigger, I was calling a character a nigger (because it was a nigger male from a western cartoon). Lo and behold, half an hour later I had my posts board wide wiped and I was permanently banned for 'trolling' Are you sure you didn't post that on /v/? :^) Anyways, /delicious/ was transferred to /sm/'s BO like a month ago because the previous BO didn't log in in weeks, so now it's time to suggest changes (or shill /loli/, which has laxer rules that allow even that Torfag's autistic collection of text snippets from loli doujins).
>>198582 So now it's run by a homosexual, wonderful. I do agree that /loli/ is a much better board all around and can't stand the absolutely cringeworthy everything that is /delicious/ or the fact that they call loli 'cake' which sounds like an autistic spic's brainchild.
>>198581 >this is a discussion imageboard is that why the same thing happened in the loli thread here when someone brought up that he thought the male in lost life was a nigger? this isn't a discussion imageboard its a circlejerk imageboard thats why its only a matter of time before my post history gets wiped again for refusing to do so.
>>198581 >I wasn't calling someone a nigger. a. Not that there's anything wrong with calling someone a nigger b. It'd be a lot cooler if your were, dude.
>>198583 >So now it's run by a homosexual, wonderful. Since I have never seen anyone complain at /sm/ this may be an improvement. >the fact that they call loli 'cake' which sounds like an autistic spic's brainchild. I wonder where did their "delicious cake" name and motto came from. Until now I have assumed they took it from 7chan's loli board named /cake/ - Delicious, but I may be wrong.

And, that Aslan is the bad guy for also not allowing the Telmarines to settle in Narnia despite them being pirates who attacked the country and drove the Narnias underground.

HOLD EVERYTHING!!! As much as our bullshitting my be accurate, decided to look things up on Infogalactic, it's possible that Netflix may actually make SUSAN the protagonist and central hero of the story because, according to progressives, Lewis writing about her becoming a grown woman with little interest in Narnia is "sexist", as one direct quote states: https://infogalactic.com/info/The_Chronicles_of_Narnia#Criticism <Susan, like Cinderella, is undergoing a transition from one phase of her life to another. Lewis didn't approve of that. He didn't like women in general, or sexuality at all, at least at the stage in his life when he wrote the Narnia books. He was frightened and appalled at the notion of wanting to grow up. Forget the fact that Lucy and Jill (An character who shows up in The Silver Chair and The Last Battle) are important to the plot. Because of the fact that Susan doesn't join the gang later on, that is an "error" that cannot be overlooked.
