The dramafaggotry and the damage from the split itself was what prevented /v/ and webring unification more than anything else. (some) Anons' feelings of burnout and exhaustion came way after the damage had already been done.
We had a decent thing going for the brief period of time when we were unified by the webring. Every board on the webring was on the upswing in growth and activity, and then the drama hit and slowly but surely, the inability to connect with major boards took its toll on each site.
Not to mention there were autistic shitstirring faggots on each site trying to act like the others were as bad as cuckchan and police the board for crossposting when we all came from the same place.

>resounding apathy
Everyone's either too busy or too lazy to do it properly. There are anons who clearly want the board to grow/revive and be more active, but its either
A. impatient ADHD autists who don't actually read Max Revive and would prefer to gamble and rely on the lottery of poorly thought out viral marketing and shilling into the void rather than actually doing the hard work of bringing anons back on a consistent, steady (but slowish) basis.
B. Anons who are only interested in telling others what to do, but not do anything themselves. (Lot of overlap between A and B)
or
C. Anons whose new life circumstances make them barely able to keep up much with the board anymore as it is and CBA to do much beyond be a regular anon. For example, one of our most prolific drawfags is now raising a child. That shit takes
all your time away.
I'd do it myself
and I did do it briefly for the period of time when OP Max Revive was new, I brought the attention of the site to at least a few anons of the past , but unfortunately, I have a life now I have to be working on which sucks up my time, and ironically I don't have the consistent, steady and patient nature in me to handle such work as I'm more of a "seat of the pants, try to do everything in one sitting" type guy, which is not conducive to growing a board's population in the way I'm describing.
Its hard to see the effects of such an operation on an anonymous imageboard in the short-term, which is a hard pill to swallow for a lot of people.
I'm also gonna be blunt and painfully honest here, the admins need to jump on shit like OP Max Revive and post progress updates if they want the board to grow (or at least heavily endorse it for the anons that do), they are the ones who should be most interested in the site's increase of activity as it is literally their site.
Now is a good a time as any for Max Revive though. We've had an influx of users since the SBI shit, not a huge amount, but still enough to make the board's activity and users stay at a prolonged, heightened level. After nearly 2 years of stagnation and decline, there's finally been a spike upwards, people would be foolish to let such an opportunity slip through their fingers.
The cruelest thing about my post is that I'm aware just saying all this won't really do much on its own, as actual work is needed to get others to join in and start an upward spiral. These days I'm an anon who falls into the B and C camps as I simply don't have the time I used to.
Its a painful thing to know that you can help build the board back up, but you simply don't have the autism and time that you used to.
All it takes is a few determined, autistic, consistent and patient anons to revive the place if I'm being honest, that's never changed.
