I miss 8ch's /liberty/.

This place has the potential to be like that, it's just a problem of user base. I'm guessing most of our regulars haven't found their way over to Julay.
>>61
If you want to see the old /liberty/, be the shitpost you want to see in the world. Start a thread, or reply to an existing one. The Argumentation Ethics thread is sitting pretty with no replies.
>>62
If it makes you feel better anon I just found this place just recently. Been looking for /liberty/ for months since 8ch fell.
>>62
How the fuck do we bring more people here?
>>1187
The BO mentioned this place on a thread on /pnd/ on 8kun. So I looked it up and came here since I miss this place.

Is the BO going to migrate the board to 8kun? Or is this the definitive place?
>>1210
8kun is gay, we're staying here.

Late 8chan /liberty/:
>>1215
I agree.

>>63
Yeah, I think that it really is up to us alone, it's unlikely that many more will find they're way. We should spread the roots of Libertarianism in every alt tech media before they're completely overrun with the socialists and commies.
>>1218
We should have kept the liberty lamia. She'd already been around for years when Aurelia got created.
>>1254
I think the fact that many posters didn't even know she was the board-tan should indicate why moving to Aurelia was a good idea. If people weren't reposting the lamia she probably wasn't very good memeable.
>>1254
This board can probably still have her.
I was skeptical at first because I thought the /liberty/ lamia was /leftypol/'s creation.

>>1255
A lot of the old guard stopped using the board as often after the commie crapflooding started in earnest, myself included.
>>1257
/monster/ made her for us around the same time /beauty/ was still relevant. I remember because they made a mermaid mascot for them around the same time.
>>1258
>>1257
gross, never post this "mascot" ever again

I like those drawings

However there is no need for it. Look at marxists and socialists, look at other successful political movements, they have no mascots. What they do have is symbols and figures that the people can relate to. That's why Hoppe is so hated by the commies, they can't refute him, they can only shun, meme him and, of course, make sure his ideas are not truly taken seriously, or worse, does not even reach people.
So to speak, things like your drawing only damages the movement, since it scares away people that would have considered it reasonable and/or serious giving it a chance.
The first image is what comes up in jewgle after i type anarcho capitalism, the secons after communism, the third Hans Hermann Hoppe, the fourth an com, and finally libertarian. HHH was the only thing of this movement not memed(only 1 meme image). I'm not saying we should prohibit memes(that would be a violation of the nap) but it's undeniable that creating better symbols or solidifying the old ones, would do wonders. Individuals that want to see a libertarian future come to fruition, should be aware that those ideas must be at least be taken with some seriousness.
Remember when some commies aimed to delegitimize the right with kekistan and other memes? Because I do.
>>1270
>look at other successful political movements, they have no mascots
In my country it's the exact opposite, successful politicians take advantage of anime, cartoons, vidya, rap, k-pop, vaporwave, memes, and other trendy shit. They have college students doing all their marketing.

>So to speak, things like your drawing only damages the movement, since it scares away people that would have considered it reasonable and/or serious giving it a chance.
Propaganda should ideally be aimed at children and zoomers. Any movement that doesn't have the next generation on its side is dead. The "serious" crowd will always stick around anyway, they will read books and hang out at mises.org and other serious places, but if we're going to act serious everywhere and all the time, we will just be seen as preachy and boring, and be laughed at for being so serious.

Seriousness is dead, learn post-irony/new-sincerity.
>>1271
>politicians using vaporwave and anime to gain popularity.
You from Brazil anon?
>>1278
I'm the Russkie anon.
>>1270
She's a mascot for the board, not for the movement. Board mascots help create a sense of camaraderie and a stronger board culture.

>>61 >inb4 old thread Yeah I know I used to be on the old /liberty/, I remember Orthobro, that one Germancap, that one Polish Ancap, that one Gadsden flag guy, the other Confederate guy, etc etc. It was a fun place for argumentation with commies but other than that there was hardly any actual discussion amongst libertarians/ancaps, which is kind of ironic in a way. Still, it was fun writing entire essays arguing with commies on all their usually bizarre points. I still miss some of the good economic threads, that one anon who had a mega library link, etc etc but honestly anon, you're not missing out on too much. It was what it was, I just wish I kept up with personalities who were on the board more than anything else.
>>3272 Some good times for sure.
If the government can force you to buy insurance, what's to stop them from forcing you to buy snowblowers and boats, too?
Move forwards, post, make more threads, talk about things, respond in threads you can respond in. Anon there is never going to be a second 8chan /liberty/, it will never be exactly the same. But that doesn't mean this /liberty/ can't be just as good.
Americans scream toothpicks will never be outlawed because the price of building more prisons is too expensive, but did the costs of jails stop lawmakers from banning straws?
