Prepping for SHTF situations & other emergencies Anonymous 08/12/2023 (Sat) 05:48:44 No. 10
It's important to be prepared with the looming threat of wars breaking out, escalation of the current war in Ukraine, dwindling resources, rising costs, & extreme natural disasters to boot. So this thread will serve as a general advice general for prepping in the event of a true happening. Be it war or societal collapse brought on by economic downturns. I'm by no means an expert but anyone can spitball & add their own ideas. First things first is food & water. Stock up & store bottled water while you can. In an emergency, know your fresh water resources. Boiling it to rid it of contaminants may not be enough but there are options available to clean the water with portable filters. If it gets really bad, collecting rain water is an option but will likely contain forever chemicals contaminating it. Now for food, especially right now, you'll want to stock up on rice, beans, canned foods, pastas, & perhaps chicken bouillon. Long lasting foods that are easy to make & fill you with protein easily. Spices are another good thing to have so you can make that bland food flavorful. If you can & have the space for it, take up gardening now for fruits & veggies readily available. Next is first aid. Have a well stocked supply of band-aids, burn ointment, wraps, rubbing alcohol, & sanitizer. Basic stuff you'd find in most emergency first aid kits. This is just for basic scrapes. Now comes the basic general advice. If gas keeps shooting up in price, which it will, it's advised to find other means of transportation. Get a bike or scooter. Electric options can work but they'll only last as long as the power grids do. Cars are getting more expensive in every way for upkeep. In an emergency, they'll only get you so far if there's traffic jamming the highways. Other obvious thing is to have means of protection. Body armor, helmets, & most importantly weapons. Guns, knives, axes, & bows are not just for your own protection but for survival purposes if things get really bad. I'm no economist so I really can't give sound financial advice. Again please feel free to add on your own ideas or just vent about your worries for the future right now. That's basically why I'm making this thread too.
