What does bump mean? Anonymous 10/27/2024 (Sun) 22:51:51 No. 59293
I've been on this forum for about 6 months now and i still don't know what does "bump" stand for.
It means bumping up the thread, so it appears at the top. Usually done by impatient, greedy or egoistical people
It's used to bring attention to old threads or posts. Sometimes, things get buried and forgotten, so people bump those threads and post up hoping to bring attention to them. Nothing is wrong with bumping as it can help threads gain activity or can help a post, just don't overuse it and don't be a dick.
Making a post in a thread 'bumps' it to the top of the board. Saying 'bump' is a way of signalling you're just lazily trying to revive a thread. Threads have a maximum number of times they can be bumped (bump limit) so it's considered polite to 'sage' your post (makes a post without bumping the thread) if you're just arguing with some fag or otherwise posting irrelevant nonsense.
