>4chan got a lot of users who complained way too hard about the anime culture on the site
That was largely a sharty initiative, speaking of the "tranime" spam on all boards. Also they were behind the majority of anti loli spam as well, though they had to be a bit more subtle about that due to /a/ not allowing frogs and soyjacks (keeping a tiny semblance of its culture, at least).
4chan is simply too big to serve its purpose well, it's essentially as well known as any social media. Quite literally everything goes to shit when it becomes too mainstream. This place isn't saved by IDs (though I think they're a good addition), but simply by being smaller which in itself is a filter. Autistic schizos were thriving on /vt/ because they could find several people to respond their baits at any given moment while they don't get the same amount of instant gratification here. Nonetheless, I think everyone will go back to /vt/ once 4chan is back because most people simply forgets their principles when they have nobody to talk to, and the majority of people are simply just going to use the more well-known site. There were several initiatives to move to altchans but they always died, it's been like this for 20 years now. It's practically no different from people moving to Bluesky from Twitter than moving back because they can't engage in ragebaits there.
Nonetheless, I do hope that both this place and holotower will remain as individual communities. I'm actually really enjoying the dynamic of being somewhat separate (niji and holo have their own boards, everything else has its place here), I think it's way healthier and probably another reason schizos are going to be filtered.
Not even just about /vt/, pretty much all of the altchans I've visited are flourishing and keep a much better environment than 4chan, but unfortunately it's most likely temporary.
