here are the options in order of effectiveness:
>oral anti-androgen
Finasteride drastically slows hair loss, but it kills DHT levels for your whole body, so unless you have high testosterone to begin with you may have terrible side effects associated with low testosterone. Saw Palmetto doesn't have side effects but it isn't all that effective
>topical anti-androgen
idk of any example but some people use research chemicals for this, which is inherently a bit risky since nobody really knows that they do to the body. should drastically slow hair loss like Finasteride, but without the systemic affects since it's localized to the scalp
>microneedling
use a pen, not a roller. tiny needles stab wounds into your scalp, blood and stem cells come to heal it, and the end result is better than the start. can revive dying hair follicles and reverse some hair loss but not that effective by itself
>growth stimulant (minoxidil)
prolongs the growth phase of hair, boosting your hair growth by a huge amount. this twice a day (especially when coupled with a weekly microneedling routine) should give a noticeable improvement, but only as long as you continue to use it, otherwise the extra hair will all fall out. beware though, minoxidil is very toxic to cats, so it's off-limits if you have a cat or interact with cats regularly. and if you ever do then you have to wash your hands very thoroughly after touching your hair and not let cats near your hair
probably the best thing to look into would be topical anti-androgens, if you can find one that's well-researched. that would actually stop the progression of hair loss. every guy should microneedle their hairline/crown weekly, no reason not to, only takes a few minutes and can save some dying follicles
