>>19584 Thank you anon for delivering, that surprisingly enough, actually turned out to be an earnest throwback to the 90's attitude of CN cartoons. Something that I thought wouldn't see the light of day ever again in my lifetime. All killer no filler. And big props to the Mexicans who made this, if only because they went with a head villain inspired by Coffin Joe (a horror reference that's very central and south american that would flyover the heads of most burgers).

>>19584 Thanks for this, was expecting this quality and am happy with what they're doing, and hope they do more. I sincerely hope Latin America continues with the old Western cartoon style while the rest of the world fellates Japanimation. Epic.

She has the green hair and a lizard hoodie with long extra tongue, so maybe hybrid? Dunno. I like how she isn't just lols random harley quinn knockoff that can beat everyone. She's actually after Black Hat. The idea of heroes being all competent and basically bullies so villains have to order outside help in order to combat them is an interesting one.

>the show is not just shorts + one 15 minute episode Great news. I wonder if "blink and you miss it" is intentional or just because episodes are 15 minutes, instead of regular 23, so they compress everything as much as they can. >>19896 Considering what they did to PPG, I'm honestly surprised they allowed boobs on the show. Do you guys thign CN LatAm is kinda protecting this show somehow? There's less, but there's definitely "Summer Camp Island" kind of faggots in Mexico, especially in the artistic medium where they pitch these shows. I honestly don't see Villanous getting pitched otherwise.
Holy fuck, this is really good animation. The smoothness, specially on little details actually makes me want to say that it's possibly the first time I've noticed actual improvement in western animation, in this style, since 2015. And about the style, I love that the only thing that isn't cartoony is the female bodies, I never get tired of watching Demencia's legs. The voice acting is really good too, I've heard that Mexico has good voice acting but I never thought it was like this.
>>19903 Just finished episode 2, I don't remember the last time I genuinely laughed at something this mean spirited, particularly not aimed at adults, maybe Gravity Falls, but even at it's worst it was still very positive. I was kinda worried about the flashback abuse thinking it was gonna go a Family Guy, but they actually made it relevant. Demencia is such a semen demon, probably literally, I hope those faggots at Cartoon Network don't touch her.
>>19806 Yes, is like Ed, Edd & Eddy in regards of absurd humor and violence, but with lots of references to other shows and Mexican culture in general. >>19894 >So how's this series gonna be fucked over? But, if its gonna get fucked either way, may as well do so. >Primal Did it ever get more seasons? I heard it did but I can only find the first one in torrents, nobody talks about it.

This is great. CN is picking it up because it's the best thing to fall in their laps in over a decade and they can't pass it up. I hope they don't ruin it. First and foremost, the animation is good. Gestures, faces, multiple people moving at once, multiple perspectives, everything is perfectly fluid and everything is constantly in motion. The quality is up there with the best of full-length movie productions. Lots of love and effort went into this. Even the background characters are well designed. The artists drew a lot of high quality static images that they insert as background paintings, posters, or slideshows. It works well. There is good chemistry between the characters. Demencia's over-the-top nuttiness carries the show just like her superhuman strength and agility carries the team. Without her, the show would just be Flug snarking off. Good, but not great. Flug is the heart, the glue, he throws the pitch and the others hit home runs. 505's quiet innocence is a good contrast to Demencia's wackiness and Black Hat's villainry. The characters' emotions shine through, both the main characters and the minor characters. They are all very expressive in understandably human ways. Or devilish ways, in Black Hat's case. This is one of the things that makes the show great. The cameos work. They don't seem forced, they seem like they were added because the writers love the other shows and wanted to make references to them. Can anyone ID the defendants in the dock next to Frankie Foster? >>19746 Is the blue guy supposed to be Totoro? >>19753 > Is that a touhou reference? The big anime eyes clinch it for me. The other ghosts don't have eyes like that. I bet it's a style reference where they take elements from several different 2hus and merged them into a new character. Yuyuko's a ghost girl who wears a robe, Byaruken's multipiece dress opens in front like that, the hat looks like Koishi's, and the hair looks like the SWR sprite of Tenshi who wears a similar hat. Then they gave their new character a background as a human girl. I bet they didn't think that hard about it and just made a 2hu-style girl with whatever concepts came to mind at the moment. Are the other ghosts >>19728 also references? Casper is obvious. The doll is The Living Doll from the Twilight Zone. Some of the others seem to be drawn to some model.

>>19806 >>19894 I'm reminded of Evil Con Carne, but it's not derivative nor a ripoff. It's not as stupid (in the goofy sense), either. I think it's for the better though, since I've seen enough of retardation elsewhere. Perhaps Atoms could speak Spanish and work with the Villanous team with an alias, if possible?
>>19733 Even the teaser itself is something I haven't seen in a kid's show for who knows how long. >No dialogue, >All Atmosphere and character traits splashed on the scenery. >>19950 I didn't get such vibes from older CN cartoons like Dexter's Lab or Powerpuff Girls despite also being intended for a younger audience. It's more about the creators themselves being modern manchild internet goblins which is why this looks so unappealing.
(427.99 KB 500x360 ClipboardImage.png)

>>19953 >PPG >Dexter This belongs more on the Grim Adventures, Courage, Evil con Carne's vein, even Ed, Edd and Eddy somewhat but mostly Maxwell Atoms style. Which were intentionally juvenile, even gross AND unappealing to rebel against the norms from the safe looking (at the time) PPG and Dexter and the intellectual Samurai Jack and Justice League types. I get that you don't like it I considered the constantly moving lineart or Ed, Edd and Eddy ugly as a kid and I still do, just more tolerable, but the series is better because of it.
>>19955 Never liked that era of cartoons. It's like they made it a point to be as obnoxious as possible. 90's and earlier cartoons are still superior to anything newer, imo. The creators seemed grounded and respected the basics.
>>19955 Shit, if anything, Villanos is extremely tame and contained with it's teenage unappeal compared to the shows of the 2000s, that whole line of Grim Adventures to Flapjack and Chowder eventually died out, probably because of it meanwhile PPG and Dexter's Lab art evolved into the current CalArts and Noodle art of today. >>19958 >The creators seemed grounded and respected the basics. What basics? If you mean the principles of animation then all those unappealing shows used them, probably even more than geometric artstyles like Genndy's or semi-realistic like the ones from Bruce Timm and Man of Action at the time ever did. In fact, if you consider Ren and Stimpy as the inspiration for those unappealing shows to begin with, that cartoon had a direct inspiration from Golden Age cartoons like Mid-Mod and Inkblotall subversion all over it PPG had also heavy Mid-Mod inspiration. So all those unappealing cartoons are probably even more inspired by the origins of animation than the other ones like Invincible or Avatar.
>>19950 >It's actually a fun show and it made me laugh like nothing out of western animation for kids has in 6 years. I'd dare say that it's even better than some of the CN shows people fawn over from the 90's and 2000's because I've tried watching those shows and didn't get much out of them.
>>19958 >>19959 What I'm trying to say is that at it's origins, animation was everything but >Grounded. It was incredibly experimental and the first massive productions were fucking early Fleischer and Looney Tunes, chaotic and ugly and even scary and uncanny. It was Walt Disney typed that tried to make it normalized and grounded for mass appeal. So it's shows like these, the ones that tap more into the actual basics of animation.
>>19959 >>19961 When I said grounded I was talking about the people behind the shows; As in their character, culture and sensibilities. Tex Avery made great screwball humor and characters because he wasn't a mental midget soyboy. So did Chuck Jones, John K, Hanna Barbera etc. They understood animation at a basic level which is why they work is remebered so fondly. All due to their work ethic. Ethic which is nowhere to be seen today so you get all these dysgenic garbage being produced today.
>>19962 How does work ethic affect style? This is no Steven Universe where they can't have a consistent character model between scenes or High Guardian Spice where the animation is literally shit and they have Jpegs as background. You literally saw some cartoons having gross out, juvenile humor and said "They don't have work ethic because reasons", starting with Villanos, which has some of the most consistent, fluid and expressive animation in years, looking like borderline direct to video quality on a Cartoon Network Latin America budget probably the reason there's only 6 short episodes, if anything it's a demonstration of incredible work ethic. Also, it's rich that you mention John K as part of the people that have work ethic when animators of the time that went to work at Spumco because of the artistic freedom say he was an abusive asshole on an ego trip, not to mention the scam that was "Cans Without Labels" or dating minor fans.
>>19964 Or Hanna Barbera, which normalized even more to make cartoons as cheap as possible and even though I can understand that, they also only greenlit cartoons that were a copy of their other cartoons, and suddenly you have 5 versions of fucking Scooby-Doo clones and their baby's version, all done by Hanna Barbera which absolutely stagnated much of the cartoon industry and its perception for decades.
>>19963 Work ethic affects quality of anything. You can't even compare the works of Chuck Jones to anything post y2k. It is on another dimension of quality. And yeah gross out stuff for the sake of it isn't funny or appealing by itself. It needs to be backed by actual talent for it to actually work. I'll give some credit to Villanous in that it's at least better than literal trash like Guardian Spice, but that isn't saying much. I know John K is a douchebag, that does't take away from his work on Ren&Stimpy. >>19965 I was more referring to MGM era Tom&Jerry HB as opposed to their budget starved tv shows, which while I'm not a fan of, I'd still argue are better than most current shows.
>>19964 John K dating minor fans only means he was based as fuck.
>>19966 >budget starved tv shows, which while I'm not a fan of, I'd still argue are better than most current shows. Nigger, now you're just in denial you fucking boomer.
>>19968 ok zoomer
>>19965 >they also only greenlit cartoons that were a copy of their other cartoons, and suddenly you have 5 versions of fucking Scooby-Doo clones Or, fives different versions of Huckleberry Hound or fives different versions of The Flintstones. HOWEVER, you also have to look at what was going on at the time as you had ACT (Action for Children's Television) and similar groups lobbying against "violent television shows" during the late-60's onwards, which resulted in cancelling popular shows like Wild Wild West and censoring others like HB's own Johnny Quest. And, Scooby Doo was born as a result because they were looking for something that would appeal to both adults and kids.
>>19970 >and similar groups lobbying against "violent television shows" during the late-60's onwards, So like the nowadays lib shits crying at 2000s gross out humor, which is weird since they also got their chance from decreased censoring on TV.
>>19971 >not liking toilet garbage means libshit Someone is definitely crying
>>19971 >So like the nowadays lib shits crying at 2000s gross out humor Pretty much. Not to mention other references to culture like for example the UwU Teletubbie getting burned to death **referencing UwU is something a woke modern show would do to sympathize with kids, punishing the use of UwU is totally an imageboard thing, a whole episode against ethots, VIRUS contacts Black Hat trough the deep web since the "Google" site even had an onion on the logo, which even today most normalfags wouldn't know. If girls get heart pupils when they feel good, is Heed constantly physically getting off on the attention she's given?

I didn't make many webms that weren't Demencia, but this one of Black Hat actually doing something was too metal to pass up. I capped a bunch of the cameos and reference I recognized, but I'm sure I missed a lot. I could have sworn I saw more solid ones in the lucha libre audience. Does anyone else think the T-rex, pterodactyl, and purple monster slug lady, are supposed to references to Primal, Metroid, and The Little Mermaid?

Can anyone make out what the glitchy folder on V.I.R.U.S.'s desktop is? Something I noticed while going over episode 6 a second time, in one of the crowd scenes there's one single character that isn't hypnotized by Heed. They turn around a little. Anyone have guess as to what that's about?

>>35352 >Evil con Carne To think they couldn't get Hector's voice actor to interpret his role one more time because he got absent and later found death somewhere in Mexico's subway. Maybe they'll get Grim's, after all he's the main voice of TNT movies.

>>35371 Maybe they mean his Spanish dub VA.
>>35357 >>35371 >>35378 I mean since they're dubbing the cartoon in Mexico first, when the show got pirated through youtube: Many spectators were recognizing the voice acting cameos, even there's a wikia exclusively for latino voice actors.

>>19425 Started watching this series on a whim, and thanks to >>19584 for the superb latin american dub. I am impressed by how much it feels like a show from back in the early 2000s. It's so refreshingly straight forward and episodic, most shows nowadays make this big effort to make things serialized to invite lorefags, but you can pop an episode at random and it's still so fucking good. The voices are all spot on, especially Black Hat and Demencia, the characters do not feel one note and the animation is really nice and competent. Even the references are blink-and-you-miss them rather than in your face like other shows would do. My only "complaint" so far is that they mix and match Spanish and English signs and posters during the episodes, which is oddly distracting. Also, is it just 6 episodes long? This and Satina are becoming my shows of the year so far..
Sooo, are there any more episodes of this?
Is there a mega with the orientation videos (subbed, of course)?
>>35921 I was able to find them in spanish with english hard coded subs on https://kimcartoon.li/Cartoon/Villainous but you're honestly better off just skipping them. They're basically reruns of CN toons with Black Hat chiming in every few lines to show his disgust, they're more annoying than interesting. Plus there's an Aku one that I can't seem to find.
>>35926 >>35926 >Plus there's an Aku one that I can't seem to find. If you search Invidious for "The Missing Cases from the future" the hard-coded sub should come up.
