And to be fair to Quesadilla, Marvel's issues with the marriage predate his tenure, as it was a haphazard publicity stunt to coincide with the Spider-Man comic strip Stan Lee was writing at the time. That it lasted as long as it did prior to One More Day has more to do with prior attempts to "reset" Spidey failing spectacularly (the Clone Saga, MJ "dying" in a plane crash) and Mary-Jane just being better developed in comparison to Peter's other love interests.
