>Adult Swim’s one-hour expansion of its daily programming last month has gained enough traction with viewers that the Warner Bros Discovery network is adding another hour to its schedule heading into the fall. >A new block, “Checkered Past,” will debut under the Adult Swim banner — on the channel it shares with Cartoon Network — starting August 28 on Monday through Friday at 6 p.m. It will be a showcase for Cartoon Network throwback titles like Dexter’s Laboratory, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and Ed, Edd, n’ Eddy, replacing a rotation of Cartoon shows like Teen Titans Go! >On Saturdays, the new 6 p.m. hour will feature reruns of current TV-PG originals like Unicorn: Warriors Eternal and My Adventures With Superman. Sundays will continue to see “Acme Night” broadcasts of family-friendly films from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The rest of the schedule is projected to stay intact. https://deadline.com/2023/06/adult-swim-expansion-nostalgia-block-checkered-past-cartoon-network-1235398446/

>>34626 Yep.

>>34626 It's not the shitty propaganda cartoons that put the company on life support, it's the merging with Discovery channel, whatever it happens don't blame it on the tumblr faggots with little to nothing experience.
>>35999 Discovery is simply trying to make Warner profitable after they boughg them with a fuckton of debt. If they're doing this, it means CN was on fucking life support precisely because it put out nothing but trash made by and for Twitter/Tumblr. Only thing they had worth a dick was Gumball and half the reason was because it was a French production.
>>35999 Fucking this >>36002. CN felt the need to dabble in petty politics and paid a deserving price. As sad as it is.
>>36002 >>36010 Please tell me I'm not the only one who remembers Cartoon Network moving away from Cartoons, that was like over a decade ago, they only aired Chespirito reruns on latinamerica; it was horrible. CN pretty much stayed "relevant" because some of its shows found a niche inside internet comunities but the cracks were already there.
>>36017 >Please tell me I'm not the only one who remembers Cartoon Network moving away from Cartoons, that was like over a decade ago, they only aired Chespirito reruns on latinamerica; it was horrible. That was back when they thought it was a good idea to invest in campy live-action game shows and etc. Which was stupid. They could have bought the rights to air Dan vs. just like they did with Johnny Test. Even Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island would have been a better option. But, nope >>CN pretty much stayed "relevant" because some of its shows found a niche inside internet comunities but the cracks were already there. Teen Titans Go helped to make those cracks bigger.
>>36017 I stopped watching children cartoons midway through Ben 10 so I can't really say, likely a way to ape Nicks popular live shows. I do remember them marketing Adenture Time a shitton though, it was all over stands, merchandise and the internet around 2010-2012.
>>36017 I remember them airing fucking Rugrats movies, like they ran out of content to the point of paying royalties to their main rival just fill in dead air. >>36024 I gave up when they milked Ben 10 dry, the spark was gone when they replaced Tom & Jerry with the political correct version. >>36030 And there was also Regular Show, but it bothered me so much that only 3 or 4 cartoons filled the main lineup while the retro-block aired during the time slot that nobody watched (very early in the morning). I guess didn't miss a thing when I moved on from the main cartoon channels.

>>36032 >And there was also Regular Show Regular Show was actually good though, both it and Gumball were probably the only worthwhile thing in that fucking network for like 12 years. > but it bothered me so much that only 3 or 4 cartoons filled the main lineup while the retro-block aired during the time slot that nobody watched To be fair you can only milk those for so long, the classic stuff was already milked dry by the mid 2000s. I'm fine with this though, CN was a product of it's time when businesses were actually able to take risks and there was a a modicum of quality in cable TV.
