<Anyone remember how I brought up this book several threads ago?
I get the feeling that it's trash. Let me explain:
>The setting for the story is on a planet run by a matriarchy of fish people
>Said fish people are regularly dealing with humanity, who has colonized almost the entirety of space
>Humans now want to open-relations with the fish people because their planet is in the middle of a major trading route
>How do said fish people respond?
>Let me remind you that the planet is a matriarchy
<Said fish people see humans as even lower than their males
<The male fish people only exist as servants and for sexual pleasantries (But, always on the female's terms)
<The females spend all day just bitching about philosophy and honor while running the government or going sailing
<Humans still try to trade technology to be beneficial to the fish people's society
<Fish people toss all of said tech into the trash, branding it as "heretical magic against the Goddess"
<Even try to get some female admirals to open relations with the fish people and are still blown off
<Protag of the story is the "freak" in this society of fish people, but has still managed to obtain a high status
<Spends the entire story talking about how clever she is and how much she detests the humans
<Captures a thrill-seeking human who disguises himself as the fish people just for laughs
<He begins to talk to her about the "Evils" of hu,mans
<Goes on about the smallpox-blankets, and the buffalo, and "muh innocent injuns '", and "muh six million ", and "muh capitalism is evil ", and "muh colonialism "
<Despite setting the stage that humanity evolved on a world where everything was trying to kill us
<Meanwhile, the fish people evolved on a world where they face no real predators and harshness, and everything is provided for them
<They even have superhealing
<Bitch doesn't even try to understand human thinking
<Just writes everything off as "This is the fault of men running wild, and it would never happen if a woman was in charge "
<This is despite being told that there were significant women in human history, such Joan d'Arc and Semiramis
<In addition to how every male character in the story (Even the fish men) tries to rape the fish woman when alone
And, decided to look up the author, she does consider herself to be a feminist "peoplist".
So, think it's trash? I'm about halfway through it.
