New Domain
The site has moved to
https://8chan.tv
While I had planned on using the original domain forever, but the service outgrew the subdomain. I might still host temporary/beta services as subdomains, but most projects will probably be launched on their own domain from now on.
Software Upgrade
The site is now updated and running version 0.9.x of the software. Hopefully updates will be cleaner in the future, but the new policy is
I cannot promise data will be retained successfully until the software is out of beta and stable!
Unfortunately, it seems the database from the old release cannot be made compatible with the new version of the software. We cannot put off the upgrade any longer. You will need to create a new account and add any channels you want.
On the bright side, you can now use custom guest names, and chat supports emotes. There are a bunch of other quality of life features, including private channels, adding moderators, etc, that make it well worth the switch.
E-mails
E-mails now work and verification is required to sign up. Gmail doesn't seem to like the messages, however.
If you have any difficulty registering, or you insist on using a Gmail to log in, then please contact myself or Suds and we can manually override. I cannot promise you will receive notification e-mails on a Gmail account.
Community
Speaking of Suds, I have promoted him to Community Manager. Please forward help requests his way when possible, and he will try to mediate. If the issue needs to be escalated or feedback passed on, he can reach me directly.
I will update the OP with the new domain and update our frontend, Aleph, with embed support in the coming days. As usual, please drop any complains or suggestions here and I will accomodate where I can.
Hardware Upgrade
Still coming down the pipeline, but not there yet. Intel has finally started shipping their workstation GPUs... to OEM partners. Hopefully I can buy them used or packaged for retail soon. Adaptive Streaming will remain disabled until then.
