SICP VN Project Anonymous 03/01/2021 (Mon) 19:54:28 No. 2720
Is anyone still interested? I wish to revive this project, and contribute to it if enough people are. I have a plan for the script ready
I've never heard of this before but you have me interested.
Sounds interesting. I'm not really a Comp Sci pro so I don't know how'd I be able to contribute though.
yeah I love scheme, what language should we right it in, python or lua?
>LISP How about a VN related to C++? Computer science is gay as fuck and won't give you any high paying jobs or the ability to write good software. We already have enough webshitters. Even a VN about /tech/ would be better. >>2737 >what language should we right it in, python or lua? None. Just use Renpy. Most of it works with some simple markup. If that's not enough you can use Python since that's what Renpy is build on.
>>2737 Yeah like >>2738 said, it'd be better just to use Ren'Py. Building a whole engine is a nuisance in itself. >>2738 >Computer science is gay as fuck and won't give you any high paying jobs or the ability to write good software. Is it really worthless to go to Uni to learn CompSci? Where is a good resource to learn how to write good software.
Is there anything left besides screenshots? Was there ever a release?
>>2740 the point I was trying to make is that people that want a SICP VN are autistic retards that care more about memes than programming. What's the point of a SICP VN if you don't learn anything about scheme? Having anthropomorphic lolis representing old jewish men from MIT? Would Epstein be the protagonist too? If you were serious you'd write the script/engine in about a week with racket, then hire artists instead of trying to "collaborate" with a bunch of lazy fucks on a dead image board. A better VN would be about going to university surrounded by indians and chinese while reading python 101 then graduating and being unemployed.
>>2746 >f you were serious you'd write the script/engine in about a week with racket, then hire artists instead of trying to "collaborate" with a bunch of lazy fucks on a dead image board. caused it'd be interesting and fun?
Let's just do it. Write it, script it. If someone wants to rewrite it in a LISP-based engine then that can happen concurrently with a RenPy release.
>>2746 >A better VN would be about going to university surrounded by indians and chinese while reading python 101 then graduating and being unemployed. Odious Code Monkey Genuflection With Terrible Fury, Only True Unemployment

There's a "How to LISP Manga" out there y'know? With working examples! But in Jap http://lambda.bugyo.tk/cdr/mwl/
>>2720 I recall a similar project from /prog/ several years ago. I think I saved his videos demoing it, but they're buried deep under the 100k+ files I have in my ~/Pictures/4chan/ directory. Engine was written in MIT-Scheme and I think he was an MIT student himself. >>2853 There does exist a Lisp VN, and that I do know the name of, https://vndb.org/v7754 I have a copy if someone would so like.
