I was looking for that one myself, I found a sub with some colored subs that people on various sites back in the day (aniDB and MAL when anons were among some of the people to use them, can look through wayback) were saying were the best for the series (KAA), but it looks different from the one in the video. Had to find it off an old torrent on TPB because Nyaa was pretty much useless; Sadly I think KAA is dead these dayslike so many other fansubbing groups these days. At this point it might be better to make a list of all the good dead ones so people know who was generally reliable in the past, kek. I fucking hate this modern age of anime in terms of fansubs, or really the lack thereof I guess.

I can post my personal reviews/thoughts of some fansubbers if people want, based on my limited experiences with some of their releases. I won't be reviewing things like video quality/source since I'm not qualified or autistic enough for that. >Infusion They did the best available fansubs for Hajime no Ippo (the first season) in terms of translation. Good styling, weird karaoke (but its appreciated nonetheless), word choice and tone that fits the work overall. They talk like boxers and that is conveyed well, whereas in other translations and official TL rips, they have them talk like stuffed shirt faggots at times. >Anime-Empire (A-E) Did the best fansubs for Yakitate!!. A shit-ton of effort was put into things like TL notes to explain a lot of things since its fairly technical. Had a nice and appealing style and felt natural to the work. >Some-Stuffs Basically the successor to Mudasubs for Jojo Parts 1-3, had some damn good subs. Great style for Jojo, good aesthetics. Wish they had karaoke but the fonts were nice, dialogue felt good to read and go through and punchy, suited for Jojo. >Hatsuyuki Meh, I wasn't particularly impressed with their One Piece subs. Not much style, and it just felt "normal" otherwise. It was fine, and considering they're the only option available for post-Dressrosa, its whatever. I didn't notice anything too glaring, its just "okay". Probably better than CR, but who knows. >Saizen Solid subs for Kuroko no Basket, could've used a bit more style in the regular dialogue, but it felt pretty normal. I like their karaoke and signs. I expected them to be overly verbose but thankfully its fine. >Kantai I didn't have issues for their subs for 86, its been a while but I think it was nice enough. >Asenshi I don't remember much about 'em for what they did, I watched Made in Abyss through them. It was probably fine, I dunno. >Black Order best subs for TTGL and D-Gray Man (not sure why you'd care on the latter though) >Kaizoku fansubs By far the best one piece subs, but everyone knows that. Great TL notes, wording, styles, translation, tone, feel, good attack effects, and it was just made with a lot of soul. Once you're done with them, move to Vegapunk and then Yibis and finally Hatsuyuki. Vegapunk and YIbis are good, a bit worse than K-F in small, subtle ways, but good enough to continue at least. Hatsuyuki is unimpressive, but acceptable. >FroZen they worked on a later season Hajime no Ippo, felt it was too overly verbose and technical, did not flow well and was awkward. >Underwater (or CH) Not sure which one it was, since its not easy to check, it was most likely Underwater, but they did some great subs on Kill la Kill. Good translation choices generally, and they translated the signs in a very creative way that fit perfectly with the anime. There are others I could mention, but I'm unsure if they are just official sub rippers or not who just basically change the font and that's it.

when looking and comparing anime fansubs I know nothing before watching, if it was subbed before 2015, there's likely an archived wayback MAL page with people's reviews and comments on it and people used to go in hard on some of these faggots, 2 recent examples I encountered were for Bakemonogatari and Magi the Labyrinth In the former's case, people criticized the shit out of the translations and various other things of the subbers, it was practically a sub war between the top 2, which were shit, until a 3rd subber got involved way later, was loved by seemingly everyone and went on to be considered the "best" Subbers like "GG" and "qiiq" got cooked over flames, the former being considered practically a trollsub and then i looked into Magi recently, and some of these names show up again, there doesn't seem to be a single good fucking fansub for the anime, they just add in meme-tier shit that people mocked them heavily for Like making up shitty comedy lines about like "Seven cocks up their ass", "For Muhammad's sake", translating the names shittily, lots of supposed mistranslations and errors Its pretty crazy stuff, and I feel bad for the series which got nothing in terms of a good fansub This might partially explains some of why official subs were accepted with not as much complaint back as it warranted then, people might've been getting sick of some of these fansubber's bullshit when they were the only option Still fucking embarrassing though, and official subs are now pretty much a guaranteed shit option in most cases, as opposed to "potentially a shit option" depending on the era it was done in

Y'know what I don't understand? Games are still being fan-translated and re-translated to this day, but for anime, fansubbing is all but dead, despite translating for a game being a much harder, longer and more difficult affair generally. Is the anime community just full of lazy, unprincipled faggots or something compared to the gaming community? Our own /nep/ board back on 8chan prime did 2' whole game re-translations on multiple platforms, but I haven't heard of /a/ or comparable boards or communities doing anything like that for anime that would deserve it.

Nowadays, they can be doxed for doing a correct sub, if the dialogue criticizes the left and the jews, so they all avoid translating correctly. The forced unfunny "humor" is just an attempt to end all individuality, trying to create some sort of "worldwide slang/speech", in hopes that everyone starts talking like them from reading too much subs. They do the same to manga. There was scanlation manga as far back as the 90s in which the fujoshits "translating" it would insert their garbage jokes in, completely out of context. A manga like Ranma 1/2 had it's "translated" dialogue reference yaoi garbage from Gundam Wing, out of nowhere, and also mock Gundam Wing's Relena. That is because those two things was the prevalent joke among fujoshits all over the internet back then. In short: always gate keep your hobby. Or else it gets infected by sub humans.
