4chan refugee thread 2: electric boogaloo Anonymous 04/16/2025 (Wed) 23:41:20 No. 8830
Because the old one's hit the bump limit

i love catgirls
yeah, fuck that five-year-old thread you just bumped off for no good reason
>>8838 necrophilia is bad anon
kek it's gonna take a whole month for the other thread to archive at this rate
>>8897 it'll be gone tonight with the rate that anons are settling in after the shilling on /ghost/ and making their ritual threads
>>8910 there's a thread from 2021 at the bottom with 0 replies. imagine how embarrassing that is. and it's just there, rotting. if it wasn't for the hack it would have probably stayed there for 5 more years. amazing.
>>8830 we need more anons to come to 8chan before 4chan comes back share 8chan on twitter reddit youtube tiktok and other normie sites that anons bitch about all the time i fucking know they use those sites post some screencaps to /r/greentext >>8926 only you can bump old threads off the cliff
>>8978 definitely not tiktok

If 4chan /a/ comes back, will it be as dead as here or will it quickly return to business as usual?

Whoever kept mentioning smug as a fast alternative is a fucking liar, it's barely any faster than plus4chan
I can't sleep.

Hello, thanks for new bread. Tosting in the new bread.
How lewd can I go here? Are nipples allowed?

I like it here, wtf. No gookshit spammers already makes this site better than 4chan by miles.
Henlo anons, I am a kaijifag, I'll post here sometimes now
(1.70 MB 1200x900 hole.png)

Ok so do you think Hiro will get a call from glowniggers and hear something like "you shut this down or we reveal you're a pedo"?
>>9193 Your kind are welcome.
>>9053 Depends on how long it takes to come back online. If it's 1 week or less then I think things will pretty much go back to normal. If it's several weeks (or months) then that's enough time for people to actually get comfortable in other places and other routines.
>>9248 If it happens quicker than that there's always a chance people hack it again, because if that happened it would be the rise of altchans forever which sounds really fucking comfy tbh
(761.16 KB 3500x5000 1638922277059.jpg)

I can't fucking believe the /ghost/ thread just had to be a fucking /dbs/ thread. Like goddamnit. If 4chan ever comes back: 1. Pepe and wojack need to be banned from OP images SITE WIDE 2. DB gets banished to /trash/. 3. Passes need to have their captcha avoidance revoked. t. Pass User I'm wounded and I want blood
>>9195 How pissed do you reckon the spooks are at losing their premier honeypot?
>>9273 It's kind of weird they're not bringing it back up immediately honestly, because if they dont the site may be abandoned for good
>>9263 Some altchans are nice, but it's just not the same. I miss off topic semi-serious shitposting.
>>9272 based cringe dumb
>>9151 Just spoiler it and you're good.
>>9279 Then make a semi serious off topic shitpost nigger
>>9272 We're past "arbitrary" rules that make the core user base of a board happy. The mods will just answer that DB is anime and anime is allowed on /a/ (all while they ban or force-archive another Strike Witches thread). Realistically, they could make a shounenshit board.
>>9273 Quite so so I'd say. Many shills from 3rd world countries also lost their jobs. Glowies need their honeypot but I guess they wouldn't mind if their target moved to other places like xitter or reddit which are easily controlled. 4chan could also get reincarnated (shittified) in a similar fasion as 8chan->8kun. >>9278 They're either that hopeless or are indeed having talks with glowniggers. I expect 4chan could share 8chan's fate.
>>9151 Tits & genitals are fine as long as they're spoiled
>>9278 >It's kind of weird they're not bringing it back up immediately Not really. Because it'll get hacked again. See, 4chans codebase was proprietary. Unlike open source software which has to stay on top of security issues (because everyone can see the code, so it has to be rock solid to avoid getting hacked). Being proprietary meant that 4chan could have tons of bugs (even from the beginning) that they never bothered to patch or didn't even know about, because they were relying on the simple fact that nobody could see the code to protect them. Now that the code is available every single bug is out in the open. I have no doubt there's hackers already lining up dozens of exploits (ones they absolutely know will work, unless the 4chan devs patch it) ready to go as soon as 4chan comes back up. So it's not just 1 bug they have to fix. They have to fix everything now. They also have the challenge of updating an ancient version of BSD that the system was running on, and that too will cause problems. People are saying their estimated timeframe right now is at least several weeks to a month before they can come back online.
>>9151 Nipples are allowed. 2D female nudity is generally okay (as long as its not too low-effort/spammy, and if you're going to be posting it a lot try to keep it to its own thread) Sex should be spoilered, as well as any extreme content.
(294.17 KB 1442x725 fuck.jpg)

Strike Witches threads still get randomly deleted, force-archived, or otherwise getting fucked with. Pic related ban was probably to prevent anons from bumping the thread to keep it alive.
Should I expect the kgb spoiler thread here or is it going to be at another alt?
>>9292 Nah, the mood isn't right
>>9303 Where are the rules, board owner sama?
>>9299 The source code got leaked before.
>>9314 https://8chan.moe/a/rules.html Though they're pretty loose and not really adjusted yet to deal with a larger population. Expect them to be adjusted if the situation calls for it.
>>9299 Oh that's based >>9308 How can you expect to put anyone in the mood with that *thing* of yours that couldn't even please Kokonoe Rin
>>9317 leaked source =/= FOSS it's still proprietary and making changes to it is illegal which. Making changes illegal does not welcome contributors to fix bugs. Why would you fix someone else's shit in your free time that you can't even use?
>>9317 Oh, did it? How long ago was that? If it was over 10yrs ago that wouldn't really change the situation.
Can we get rid of /dbs/pics before it's too late? Not against the occasional Dragon Ball or shonen thread but we don't need three simultaneous dbs and one piece generals
>>9328 Probably, but I didn't see 4chan getting hacked every week because the source code was a single source file PHP monster full of ancient and insecure practices. Why should it be different this time? >>9327 That's a good question. Big tech companies who "got" security would offer bug bounties to avoid events like the recent one, or exploits getting sold to the CIA and nu-KGB.
>>9339 Containment threads are there for the greater food.
>>9339 There's only 1 Dragon ball thread right now.
>>9346 But they don't contain anything
>>9339 >>9351 Maybe most of them are on sharty, where they will feel right at home. And when 4chan is back, they will return to 4chan, culturally enriched with sharty memes.
>>9352 So it would seem but imagine the spillover if they weren't there to draw them to their own little pocket of the board.
>>9343 >KGB what does kagurabachi have to do with this
>>9343 >Why should it be different this time? Well I'm mostly just relaying what everyone else seems to be saying about it. And someone mentioned that 1month is basically what they were saying in the IRC. Maybe it's different because of how big 4chan is these days? idk, or maybe just some other reason entirely.
>>9356 I actually don't understand how anyone finds sharty memes funny, it's so unbelievably retarded. Maybe I'm just too old.
>>9343 >Big tech companies who "got" security would offer bug bounties to avoid events like the recent one, or exploits getting sold to the CIA and nu-KGB. Big tech companies still get some funny security vulnerabilites, see meltdown and spectre or the recent funny windows exploit: >"A critical vulnerability in Windows systems that support IPv6 was discovered in 2024, 16 years after the first affected system was released. Unless the relevant patch is applied, an attacker can remotely execute arbitrary code on these systems. Microsoft considers exploits “likely.” The same sort of vulnerability in a free/libre operating system would probably be discovered sooner, since many more people would be able to look at the source code. " But 4chan team is incompetent premium since we know they use outdated shit. They could have switched to FOSS alternatives, such as Lainchan's thing or whatever this imageboard uses but nah. They're so incompetent they were not able/willing to upgrade.
>>9299 worth noting that nothing significant had been updated since 2015 so its safe to say moot left without actually leaving anyone competent behind, he was really carrying the site on its back
>>9363 They could overhaaul it to single page application to reduce server costs. The boards were worked like they were one anyway and its not like 4chan needs SEO.
>>9374 4chan is actually based on the public Futaba source code or something. >They could have switched to FOSS alternatives, such as Lainchan's thing or whatever this imageboard uses but nah. 8chan.moe also is open source. I think expecting them to migrate to one of the open source chans is unrealistic because: >they would suddenly lose all their old moderation tools >the new chan software would possibly not be able to take the load (they're all designed for very small user counts while 4chan is fucking big) >the source code would quickly desync and turn into a mess because upstream is not going to accept hacks needed to make the chan work in the real world >>9386 How would that reduce server costs? They already cache everything with cloudflare.
>>9374 >whatever this imageboard uses LynxChan. https://gitgud.io/LynxChan/LynxChan
>>9406 >4chan is actually based on the public Futaba source code or something. Could be a lax open source license, meaning you can make it proprietary at any point in time. Read about permissive vs copyleft licenses. >they would suddenly lose all their old moderation tools Better to be hacked? >the new chan software would possibly not be able to take the load (they're all designed for very small user counts while 4chan is fucking big) Are there any actual performance issues in FOSS imageboard software or is this purely hypothetical? >the source code would quickly desync and turn into a mess because upstream is not going to accept hacks needed to make the chan work in the real world That's a skill issue. If they can't manage maintaining an imageboard in cooperation with other chans then they can't do it alone, which we can see by this idiotic situation.
(1016.16 KB 1920x1080 frogposter.png)

>>9272 Ban frogs and jaks entirely. Treat them the same as pizza, and require all users to prove that they have read Yotsuba&. >>9367 They think that depicting people they don't like as ugly is some ultimate own when in reality it is completely foolish. You can't defeat ugliness with ugliness, only with beauty.
>>9326 That's a very interesting point you're making *rapes you in the mouth*
>>9406 I'm just assuming page html generation would still be a factor since it's php. A single static page that adjust to the routing and calling up Jason should be lighter no? You'd at least be able to see the board with latest data even if the crud operations went fubar again and they stored the results in a repo.
>>8838 noooo not the satoko thread with 10 posts aaaaaaaa
>>9421 Why are you so sure a modern image board software would be more secure? >>9433 I assume this would only affect posting speed. When you make a post, the server has to update all the HTML and API JSON, but really only once per post because the generated data is fed to a reverse proxy.
>>9430 *gargle* fuck how could I have *gargle* seen this cumming?
>>9449 >Why are you so sure a modern image board software would be more secure? Maintained things tend to have bugfixes, unlike 12 years old mootware. Also there's no excuse for riding on an outdated version of FreeBSD.
>>9456 They fixed bugs themselves. Using an open source chan wouldn't prevent them from doing shit like running on an outdated BSD either.
>>9084 Most of smug's conversation happen on their /kohi/ board. /a/ is for effortposting and image dumps.
>>9449 No? Html should be purely handled by js and only the json matters when updating. I'd set api cache to a minute and have the gets pull from the repo instead of the dB.
>>9461 >They fixed bugs themselves. They wouldn't get hacked if they really did. FOSS = more users and more potential bugfixes. If one altchan gets knocked down, a fix can be prepared in time to save other chans. If you mix a proprietary codebase and incompetent devs you get the shit we just got.
>>9470 >FOSS = more users and more potential bugfixes. Shit nobody uses and nobody wants to attack. 4chan must be intensely hated by millions of people, some of which are talented hackers. These are more eyes than will ever look at your shitty open source toy chans with good intentions.
>>9479 Not sure why do you even defend this shit after what happened and after we know they can't even update their FreeBSD.
>>9053 two months would be optimal
>>9482 Because I understand why they did it like this. I even understand why they didn't update their OS. Because it's only one, maybe two persons working on it, who aren't getting paid for such a thankless task that even requires downtime.
>>9272 >1. Pepe and wojack need to be banned from OP images SITE WIDE Make it Internet wide. Pepe is just a wojack and wojacks are fucking cancer. People were more creative when they had to make troll comics. Wojack is like AI slop before AI. It's what got us all into this mess.
>>9496 4chan would riot. Yes, it has become this bad.
>>9505 Dude imagine my face when I heard that soyjak.party is a chan that only allowed soyjaks Like just imagine What the actual fuck happened How does it get to this point This has to be a legit psyop because the brains are rotten to fucking dust
>>9305 But why strike witches specifically? Is it really because underaged panties is a no-no?
>>9492 >Because it's only one, maybe two persons working on it, who aren't getting paid for such a thankless task that even requires downtime. 4chan pass costs money, no? They get money from ads, no? Not to mention countless shills that were allowed to post, likely after some bribes. Also if they can't afford devs then it's a yet another reason to team up with other altchans to maintain their shit, then maybe they could afford 1-2 days of their time to upgrade their FreeBSD. And downtime and doxing also cost money so IMO their approach makes no sense. Security by obscurity doesn't work.
>>9522 No. We recently had the following threads which reached bump limit and made it to getting archived: >stealth loli hentai thread >various butt threads >the usual prism illya borderline porn dump threads >a pregnancy thread full of borderline porn >lots of threads discussing panties (sadly mostly because of schizos) But Strike Witches, it gets fucked with practically every time.
>>9538 All that money goes to Hiro and RapeApe.
Can any anons here help me test this new userscript I made for this site? https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/533077-lynxchan-extended-8chan Mainly need to know if the thread spoiler thing is working for you.
I'm going to miss all my storytimes. The lack of 4chan makes me realize now how much time I was spending on there and now not having it is starting to drive me crazy because I refuse to fill the void with anything else. What altchans are popular now?

>>9572 >attacking jp media why?
>>9305 Strike Witches get taken down because /a/ was a ground battles only board.
>>9492 >management neglects IT >demands a proprietary software stack out of ignorance >refuse to make any changes that will cause downtime and affect the bottom line >codebase stays neglected full of vulnerabilities for several years >someone finds an exploit and launches a zero-day >big data breach >millions of trannies 404 >management makes excuses and changes nothing how many times must this happen? there are now so many boomer-minded millennials around these days that I don't even think the death of the boomers will help much
>>9577 They're having a flame under their ass
>>9558 Speaking of ghost, did they implement an ip range ban in the past year? I know I used to be able to post there but now the reply box simply doesn't show up no matter what i click.
Today I visited the dbs general in ghost for the first time ever and holy shit I did not expect it to be THIS horrible. Legit shocking. Didn't know how good I had it in my seasonals. Even yuri/bait threads are 10 times better.
>>9577 I really hope it gets hacked again really really badly, if it does it's the rise of altchans for good
>>9578 Gup strike witches crossover fucking when >never ever

>>9577 Fake.
>>9572 Nah. They just had a CR wagie on the mods according to the leak. Must have been the same guy making those threads shilling gook levelling.
>>9522 Probably due to not paying the SBI extortion fee or something similar. At this point it's basically confirmed jannies were on the payroll (or worse, were trannies doing it for free) to attack JP media while promoting gookslop. The most comical part of this was having the FOTM reddit romcom slop air (5bun, oshit no ko, kaguya, etc), insulting some random girl from the show, and having an assmad janny randomly 3 day you.
>>9594 lol who tf gets pwned by a a bug they already know about
>>9589 Reminder DBSpics managed to make a tool that spoofs the 4chan pass to bypass bans and the 900 second wait timer. Yes, they literally pirate 4chan passes, the faggots are in a closed circle (likely a pisscord) and don't share it outside of it tho.
>>9607 It was a CVE 10 years ago. Now it's an UVE.

>>10778 Oh I agree, they "should'' have, but: 1. see my previous comments about people 2. possibly you, based on what you're saying, and definitely I come from a time where tying who you were in the real world to who you are online is just a bad idea. The current generation has been herded and brainwashed by their own cupidity into accepting that this is what's done by corporations wanting to sell them more shit. Most of them wouldn't bat an eye if an account registration form asked them for their exact address, which window leads to their room, and the approximate hours of the day they spend in it, if they thought they were going to get some kind of celebrity out of it.

I think this might be healthy in the long run, the worst, biggest normalfags are waiting for 4chan and people who are actually interested in these hobbies will move to websites like this, this could end up being a good thing?
Can we agree that sameface is a lazy criticism if you’re going for a semi realistic style?
▲ ▲ ▲
>>11038 Hopefully bots and shills don't move over too.
>>11179 they will if this place gains enough traction
>>10993 most people are just gonna wait for 4chan, cause at least they have the bandwidth for that much traffic
>>9645 4chan's 'safety features' were super outdated, if they bring it back so soon; it'll just get hacked again. They need to save the site by, first, getting rid of all the old admins and mods that just stayed there doing absolutely nothing for so long. 4chan was basically a fossil from the Internet of the 2000s being held together by duck tape. I miss it, too; but it can't just come back so soon with no real upgrades to maintenance.
>>11068 people in the real world don't have the same face sounds like "semi realistic" is an excuse for "we don't care enough about this to use any creativity to make the character designs stylized in any way, but still please make the one with white hair and a big hat your waifu"
>>11068 huh?
>>11204 > if they bring it back so soon; it'll just get hacked again. It doesn't work like this. They will setup a new server and reinstall everything. Maybe perform a source code audit if you're lucky.
>>11204 It can and it will come back up as soon as they can bring it up while making as few changes as possible. What do you think got them into this mess in the first place? Being responsible and doing their due diligence? And it'll get rekt again, and I hope a lot lot worse comes out of it. Not just pizzas being delivered to a few addresses. I'm talking mods getting knocks on their front doors, RapeApe lynched and beaten, panic and rioting in the streets. I want to see it all burn.
>>8838 Truly a worthwhile piece of history worth keeping
>>11038 i would agree but /u/ was imperative to my hobbies. very easy to get translations from there, and people on twitter and reddit are complete morons about yuri
>>11224 They will probably not store email addresses on the server anymore, so this will not happen again. If they're clever, they'll even force everyone to login to the mod interface through a separate proxy. If they get hacked, the result will be worthless crap like ban logs.
Ok so I have one retarded newfag question: why is /a/ so against korean/chinese/whatever anime stylized animation (aka gookshit)? Is it about authenticity or something else?

>>11260 I've said it many times, and I'll say it again (no matter how many times idiots try to gaslight me about it). The problem with /a/ was that threads died too quickly. Any thread that didn't get bumped within 1hr would die. So honestly... It shouldn't take a genius to figure out what kind of threads are going to thrive in that environment. Of course it's going to be the dumbest threads that can rake in tons of shitposts. The problem actually was less about the userbase or the mods, it was a problem with the thread lifetime. There's already new threads in the catalog right now that would have been pruned by now if this was 4chan /a/. I don't get why this seems to be rocket science for most people. /a/ has the same number of maximum threads (150) that it had back in 2003. Yet in 2025 you have probably 100x the population being crammed into the same space. Seriously why am I the only one who can figure this out?

>>11260 i'm pretty confident that most boards on 4chan had some degree of organized spam to make them worse from discords and random bot farms, it makes sense that the discussion here would be higher quality since why would those groups bother going somewhere else? Not to mention all the boomer schizos who are too tech illiterate to find an altchan won't come here either. Your main point that mods did absolutely nothing is agreeable though, if one good thing did come out of this its discovering that mods/jannies need a private ban reason, I always felt like they didn't give a fuck about the rules and just banned people they didn't like so it was nice seeing how true that actually was. When (if) 4chan comes back I hope they give users more self-moderation options and cut down on mods, it makes sense someone moderating 4chan would not be mentally healthy and especially when they are not getting paid and not getting held to any standard of quality work, they're not going to perform their function.

>>11494 >users more self-moderation options and cut down on mods idk if that would be any better. having a set of rules that has to be followed seems like the most basic and easy to understand path for all sides to me. random users would ban random shit, that will just be misused.
>>11582 you dont let people ban that would be stupid Futaba boards have 3 distinct differences for self-moderation, i'm reciting this from memory so i could be wrong but I think all of these would be a good idea 1. the OP can delete posts from his own thread (this would work fine for like every board except /vg/) 2. Users can "downvote" a post but it doesnt function like a reddit downvote. If a user gets enough downvotes in one thread he gets post IDs revealed on all of his posts, if he gets even more then all of his posts in the thread are deleted. 3. public sage is still a thing I know people are resistant to anything resembling reddit downvotes but I think this system is distinct enough that it wouldn't cause the same problem where everything is a circlejerk of homogenous opinions that reddit has, the downvotes basically only exist to expose shit users and eject them from threads. 4chan has a massive problem with this and for years one or two schizos have just laid waste to entire discussion topics, if everyone could just immediately eject them from a thread I think it would be a big improvement. It would also expose spam bots in a more efficient way than the 900 second timer which only worked for a small amount of time and then the bots found a way around it.
>>11558 whats the kiwifarms URL these days? I haven't been there since before the keffals incident.

The reason I am attempting this faggotry in the first place because I know it too fucking well actual 4chan will get twice if not thrice worse when it returns. It will never get fucking better until administration is fucking against us. If I get at least a little bit of traction, of course I will also shill it to any refugees here.

>>14997 no it's retarded. there was an isekai show last season with that and if forced everyone to rename their files to isekai_ni I'd forgive it if it just turned it into another word, but simply disappearing your post is dumb.
>>14959 (goy)slop was mostly used on /ck/ because so many food contain shitty additive that are outright bad for your health but are the reason why the product is cheap. This site is so comfy right now. How do we bring this feeling to 4chan when it comes back?
This shit is just so annoying. 4chan's downfall ended up being the worst posters in it, shizos commited to posting wojaks 24/7 who got mad enough at the mods to kill the entire site. So because the mods couldn't deal with them, and because they're mentally ill, they had to kill the site for everyone. I just wanted to talk about anime and magic the gathering, dude. Its all i use 4chan for. And this is such a good season for anime, too. I hope it doesn't take forever for the site to come back.
8chan jannies just merged two GuP threads into one. 4chan would just have deleted one of them, if they cared.

oh this thread begins to move faster huh, good morning anons. sorry for multireply but i hate the jumping to the bottom of the thread a lot. >>14648 i think a lot of people frequent more than 4c, the people who feel its their home is prob decreasing every year >>14759 yeah ofc they think that. most ppl just use it for their ego anyways, being anon for them is the same as wanting to do crime. its like "WHY SHOULD I WANT TO BE ANONYMOUS I DONT HAVE ANYTHING TO HIDE" for them. >>18824 >we had decades of games pandering to male fantasies, it is okay to have some that dont You retarded? Censorship doesn't affect the making of games that pander to female, in fact, it only affect games aimed at males, you argument makes no sense, literrally no one is bitching against otome games for example, but your argument entirely rely on that (false) assumption. >also theres still tons being made Only if you count eroge and/or gacha, "ecchi" as a vidya genre is pretty much dead. >but i havn't read any interviews You entirely missed the conspiracy pushed by Thomas Lockley then. >>18824 >i always wonder if ppl like him are expecting actual femanons to join there or if its just trolling It makes sense from a certain perspective To find the right girl you will need to check many women very thoroughly, and in doing so you should realistically have multiple streams with which to find them Why not have 2-3 girls from 4chan to check out? It isn't a marriage proposal >honestly tumblr/4c always was a tsundere hate/love thing and tumblr is still better than all the new crap platforms Tumblr is decent for finding artists but the people there are so closed minded It's sad to see that as the rest of the internet decays they become more and more a valid choice

>>19407 Up here butthole.
>>19280 I doubt he lied, he likely actually believed that when he typed it - after all you didn't need any captcha in the old internet moot and older anons grew up in. But as other anons have pointed out, bots make them kinda necessary. In my humble opinion the captchs on 4chan weren't too bad, except when it was that shitty "choose stairs until none are left - three times in a row you fucker!" The cooldown, however, was unjustifyable, especially once they introduced the 15 minutes timer for cookieless users. The post-moot administration felt like it was moving 4chan towards becoming a forum with a need for registration and shit, and not for money, oh no, but purely for power tripping: shitposting becomes insanely annoying if you have to wait for 15 minutes after clearing cookies and changing IP. Also the ban on VPNs (no other chan does this and many had way worse problems with cheese pizza than 4chan). And don't forget that the mods decide what counts as shitposting (see the ban on Strike Witches, which had no justification besides a power tripping mod).
>>19463 I forgot my point: captchas are fine, even if you have to solve them for every post, since those on 4chan with the slider were decent. But everything else was absolute crap. People only went with it because they always used 4chan and didn't want ot leave the community, otherwise it would have died years ago.

Botting has been a thing before AI even with captachas, no? I can only imagine it getting worse.
>>19463 >Also the ban on VPNs (no other chan does this and many had way worse problems with cheese pizza than 4chan). That's because the goal is not to fight pizza, it's to track people. The leaks stated that jannies tracked individuals IP and made notes about them, which only reinforce the powertrip or glowies arguments.

>>19463 8chan is doing fine without captcha mostly, though when it asks for a captcha (I still get them when reporting posts) they look worse than most of 4chan's current ones. >>19486 We can only guess, but probably multiple reasons. Captcha was never made to be used on a per-post basis. Google didn't design them for 4chan. Solving them so often probably made everyone's bot scores increasingly worse, until it entered "waste this bot's time" mode.

>>19505 You're still not explaining why VPN are banned when there's no reason for it. Schizo and spammer don't need them since all they need is to reboot their router. You're a jannie, aren't you?
I'd say captchas are very much needed, but don't define quality alone. On Lainchan for example they didn't have one last time I checked and glowies advertising pizza were a daily bread. On top of that there was the "rampant anorectal violence" schizo.
>>19522 Because they're used by ban evaders? They will rangeban your ISP local IP range too if you ban evade too much. It happened to me two times or so. >You're a jannie, aren't you? No. You're a schizo, aren't you? I totally must be a janny because I'm challenging your paranoid delusions.
>>19529 >They will rangeban your ISP local IP range too if you ban evade too much. It happened to me two times or so. PS: sometimes I saw bans from other posters too, because bans are IP based. If your dynamic IP matches with someone who had this IP before and got banned for it, you got his ban message. I always argued that IP based bans are an outdated idea, but how would you do it better?

Well, the only thing you need to do when someone uses outdated software is to simply wait for a documented CVE often with code examples to use. >>25616 Was that the same hack as the first source code leak? >>25628 Yeah, 4chna got hacked so often between 2014 and 2025! Wow what a great argument!
>>25632 >Yeah, 4chna got hacked so often between 2014 and 2025! Wow what a great argument! The other anon has a point though. While the website is unpopular, it's not a valuable target. There's little money to be made by hacking it so all pro haxors simply don't do it so the list of those willing and able to do it for free is probably short, most of them are /a/ shitposters anyway.
Btw while I said "script kiddie", it's probably an oversimplification and the task was still challenging. Though using outdated software is simply begging to get raped by hackers.
Slow easter thread. Post sinks.
The site is down the same day Gege says Gojo kind have won
threads start well, but they never take off. Even the /gup/ and /pc/ generals are kind of slow. My theory is that without the pressure to generate some activity to prevent the thread from getting archived after page 10, shit stays boring.
>>27514 Nah, I just think people are busy because of easter stuff. Also the "pressure" to generate "activity" usually ends up generating shitposts and not legitimate interest.

>>28505 We'll see. Though first few days here were busy. I believe people dissipated to other threads. Or it's this level of bad and everyone else is on sharty/reddit/discord/etc.
