I won't really post this here because e-celeb shit or whatever, but ShayMay made it clear for me why I felt the need to not see this movie. It's not about it looking off, or "it's cringe xD", I realized this myself the day the trailer dropped, but I didn't know what that feeling was until ShayMay explained it. Sonic Mania was the best thing to happen to me for Sonic since S3K. I don't hate SA2, I don't hate Unleashed, despite their flaws, but that's the honest truth about Sonic to me. My best moments of Sonic, was moreso that gameplay style no one could recapture anywhere else in gaming, not even by the same team for his 3D debut. We've came real close, and to no disrespect to fantastic stuff like Project Hero, Infinity and Bumper Engine, etc. But to me, the only thing that gets that classic styled gameplay right, 3D wise, is Utopia. And it only hurts more knowing Lange might not deliver something more than just the demo 2 years ago, but going back to ShayMay, I think that's not a bad thing. I got my share of experiences I enjoyed, and can be defined as to why I love Sonic despite it all. I don't need a new game to be a fan of Sonic, I just need what I like and can enjoy from, which sounds like a no brainer I know, but what I mean is that, Mania was a nice game, for me, and others like me mostly speaking. But If that's the last game of its kind being endorsed by SEGA decades to decades to come, I wouldn't be mad about it. I'll just keep what I have, and anything like it were to come up, I'll enjoy that as well. I haven't played Advance 1, but I think I'll try to play that soon. From what I heard it's basically Sonic 1 modernized, so I think I'll enjoy it knowing it plays like I like it, regardless if it doesn't look like a Genesis era game.
Seeing that post about Monkey Ball made me understand this. If you want SA2 back, or Unleashed, or even Chao Garden, I hope the same things can happen to fans of that as well, instead of hoping for years SEGA will finally pander to what you want. A fan would likely make it happen faster than they would, sad as it is to say. But imo, this isn't just about SEGA. I just think companies as a whole are losing their influence over the gaming market, because of failures or mismanagements that befall over their IPs. I rather just get more of what I want, regardless if it came from SEGA, Nintendo, Sony or whatever. I don't care about the company, I care about their games. Give me NiGHTS fan games, whether it be with the character or not, it doesn't matter as long as it feels faithful to what I would want.
