>Hell, you can find badly animated shows, today
Hey, let's be clear, I am not in any way defending modern shit. It's way worse now than ever before. But now some of the same people who trash the '80s are okay with every problem being worse because it's SJW now. But that doesn't mean the '80s were good. Don't lower your standards just because shit has gotten worse. Just hate the new shit even more.
>'60s and '70s adult animation
The Flintstones was for both adults and children originally, but that changed even by the end of the original series, with things like Gazoo. With all the later Flintstones series throughout the decades, they were very much for kids. As for the other shows, again, good stuff, but not really adult the same way you'd get in the '90s with things like The Simpsons or even other kids shows that leaned toward adult material, like Ren & Stimpy, Batman, Rocko's Modern Life, and Spongebob.
As for things like Johnny Quest and Star Trek, yeah, nerds like things for kids, but those shows were very much for kids. Star Trek was a hit with kids as soon as it premiered, as hard as that is to believe now.
>You do realize that commercials have to be interesting and good enough in order to get people to buy them, right?
Yes, but the point is that in the '80s the goal became selling toys first and foremost, instead of making a good show first and foremost. Making a good show was a secondary concern. Again, the most obvious example being Transformers. Nobody likes Rodimus Prime, but he exists purely for toy selling reasons.
