I hate Vidhu vinod Chopra. He is the worst kind of charlatan, always trying to white wash some evil. This movie is much of the same.
The whole system of collectors and officers who give an exam about writing essays, governing us, is just a good exploitative system. That we still continue to tolerate is, is shameful on us.
Have worked with many collectors and civil servants, they are full of shit and hardly know anything about how things work in the real world. Communists are right about owning weapons and overthrowing these assholes with force.
Why does a police officer need to be able to write meaningless essays based on opinions that he learnt in 9 minutes ? How does it make him good at his job ?
Fucking clerks. How will these assholes justify their posts now that AI can do the same in less time?
The protaganist is a relatable chutiya. He is every Indian who does not have dignity or social mobility. Govt jobs are the only way out if you don't have social mobility, this is the message. Fight to be that 0.001% and you can rise.
In reality, all these interviews are rigged and so are the criterion. Maybe someone deserving gets in.
But it is a scam to give people hope of social mobility. Which is what makes this movie insidious. It is an Indian idol audition moment, turned into a 2 hour movie, to improve the image of government services, which have been losing favour steadily with a public that is disillusioned.
