Concord - flop of the decade? Anonymous 08/25/2024 (Sun) 00:24:42 Id: 9e29a1 No. 1005109
If you're unaware, the Sony-backed GaaS Concord just launched to an astounding 660 peak players. Not 6600, but six hundred and sixty-six. Currently sitting at 407. This is a flop on a level that is genuinely astounding. Battleborn launched to 12000~ players, LawBreakers launched to 7579. Gollum launched to 768. This game was in development for eight years, is getting an episode on the upcoming Secret Level show, and had a budget estimated at well over $100,000,000. All of that to hit a peak player count rivalling Far Cry Primal on a random Monday. The game didn't even enter Steam's top 500 and is about to drop out of the top 1000. It's a failure the likes of which I can only compare to The Culling 2. I would not be surprised if this game ended Sony's live service ambitions here and now, this is nearly unprecedented in the AAA space.
>>1016567 Guess what? The site didn't like the header, so I had to fuck around with it again. It didn't tell me this of course, the post went through just fine. Instead, it decided to eat the file. Why is this site so weird with videos? I never bother to convert things anymore because of it.
>>1016553 >>1016568 And here is the archive for the tweet. https://archive.is/lw1mR
>>1016568 I'm just surprised they're not going full free to play with this game. >>1016572 It's already been restored.
>>1016573 The server maintenance would be further loss of money, they cut their losses.

>>1016571 >Why is this site so weird with videos? Codex does it 4free No bully
>>1016577 BILLY THE CODEXX

>>1016568 Nice, very nice. HOWEVER
>>1016573 >It's already been restored. The first anon I replied to posted a direct link to Xitter. That's why I posted an archive.
>>1016593 You've got to keep in mind this board has had an influx of newfags from cuckchan and retarddit who are still stuck in their backwards shithole mannerisms.
>>1016568 >Most put it at $200m, nowhere near the $400m figure claimed. Because the 120+ million was always a bare minimum estimate based on team size and area wage averages. People just repeated that number without knowing the reason behind it. It never pretended to account for the office, its equipment, or bills (power, water), engine/middleware licensing, marketing, work done outside the studio (including consultants like SBI). I wonder what's being done with Marathon and Fairplay$, and how much they cost (aside from buying Bungie, which was absurdly expensive for one dead game and a couple of legacy titles that aren't even sold any more).
>>1016605 Now with 400 million flushed down the drain, somebody has to finally light a fire under the feet of these Commiefornia dipshits, right? right?
>>1016618 >down the drain Down who's drain exactly?
>>1016618 No, it's time to double down, since the next one will definitely be a hit, gambler's fallacy and all that.
(68.52 KB 750x445 I win.jpg)

>>1016618 You fail to realize that this was all intended as a way to misappropriate company funds. Nobody can quantify how much entertainment products cost, so you get executives who play this trick all of the goddamned time. It's the status quo at Hollywood right now, do you actually think those cookie cutter Greenscreen room movies cost all money to make? Not even 1/3rd of it.
>4 fucking million lost I'm speechless only thing more of a waste might be Shekel Yidzen.
>>1016651 >Shekel Yidzen At the end of the day, there is a produce there, and people are playing it, so yeah even something like Shekel Yidzen is in a better position than Concord.
>>1016653 Fuck me your right.
(7.67 KB 200x290 Mike 10 Inch Matei.jpg)

>>1016651 >4 Million Anon, you're too young, naive and lack the capacity/attention span to read. It was 400 Million
>>1016656 I forgot the zeros as I was that flabergasted while typing that post.

>>1016553 Thats GTA V type money You have any fucking idea how many games we could have developed with that type of cash
(17.90 KB 474x262 AAA gayman.jpg)

>>1016717 1 big flop is better than 5 small flops goy We could have given a big boost for the company!
>>1016720 In my shithole country someone would get shot for this.
(379.19 KB 220x142 Average corpo.gif)

>>1016724 Do not fret thirdie anon, be sure to enjoy God of War Ragnarok, now also on PC!
>>1016727 not even worth a pirate.
>>1016568 >I strongly doubt the figure anyway. Colin isn't all that reliable for these kinds of things. Most put it at $200m, nowhere near the $400m figure claimed. In the video, he's explaining that the original publisher had already spent $200 million by the time Snowy bought the game, and then Soyny spent ANOTHER $200 million to "complete" it's development.
>>1016766 >Lords of the Fallen cost nearly 70 million dollars How the actual fuck.
>>1016826 Oh wait, never mind, didn't know they made a new one with the literal same name.
>>1016666 xDrone97 here. I would shout out to fullchan if I knew you were streaming.
>>1017763 >xDrone97 here. Literally who?
