Game Awards 2024 Preparation Thread Anonymous 11/03/2024 (Sun) 23:52:50 Id: cc903b No. 1034848
IT'S ALMOST TIME FOR THE BIGGEST VIDEO GAME EVEN OF THE YEAR™..... ARE YOU EXCITED TO VOTE FOR YOUR TOTALLY UNBIASED SELECTION OF THE BEST VIDEO GAMES OF THE YEAR? READY OR NOT, IT'S COMING..... Who do you wish to win? Who do you think will win? What funny shenanigans will occur this time? Will Geoff Keighley drop the facade that he isn't just a paid industry shill who should fuck off and realize he will never be taken seriously no matter how many big events he plans like this?
>>1034953 It's a joke, my neurodivergent friend
I hope Granblue Fantasy Relink wins something. At least best soundtrack for how great that shit is. I didn't expect something based on gachashit to be so enjoyable, but it was the best new game this year for me. Genuinely feels like a game from years ago in the best kind of way, but with much more fluid combat that you'd expect from current market. Not that there was much competition for GOTY anyway. Not even sure what a GOTY list would even consist of outside of Wukong, Relink, Metaphor, and maybe Helldivers but live service games are usually excluded from this and put in their own category. Maybe toss Veilguard in there because journalist nepotism wankery? >>1034951 I'd allow it, that sounds funny as fuck.
>Watching the oscars academmy awards: video game edition Why though

>>1034848 No way we'll have Concord or Dustborn as potential GOTYs, but they'll definitely try to push Veilguard as one.
>>1034957 >Not even sure what a GOTY list would even consist of outside of Wukong, Relink, Metaphor, and maybe Helldivers but live service games are usually excluded from this and put in their own category. Persona 3: Reload and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth have a chance of being nominated for GOTY. Both are published by a huge company, sold a lot of copies, and are considered to be good games by journos and the average player. If Metaphor is on the GOTY list, they might avoid putting Persona 3: Reload on there though. Or vice versa, since they are both similar games. It is still possible to see P3:R or Metaphor along with LaD:IW as GOTY nominees, because there have been times where two nominees were from the same developer/publisher. Out of those three I'd say Persona 3: Reload has the highest chance of being nominated. Sadly I don't think Stellar Blade has a chance of being nominated. >Maybe toss Veilguard in there because journalist nepotism wankery? That depends on how the game is received in the next month. If the poor sales continue and the distaste about the game continues to be expressed, they may not want to nominate Veilguard for something as big as GOTY and bring even more attention to it.

>>1034866 >>1034902 Well I mean if the US descends into civil war that shouldn't effect Japanese or Korean made vidya or at least one would hope.
>>1034988 (heil) I hope I'm wrong, but the USA is such a powder-keg ATM that any election is going to be contested and result in some kind of uprising. We used to be able to play vidya to escape, but then shit like Veilguard happens and we have trannies coming out to their parents mid-game.
>>1034848 >concord >dustborn >SW: outlaws >remaster II >veilguard I will genuinely kill someone for this shit
>>1034998 >but then shit like Veilguard happens and we have trannies coming out to their parents mid-game. What the fuck?
>>1035005 I think the game allows you to transition mid game
>>1034988 >Well I mean if the US descends into civil war that shouldn't effect Japanese or Korean made vidya You goddamned dumbass, USA going into civil war would affect every single nation in the world, and it's allies would be affected negatively. Yes, vidya output would be affected greatly without US investement and consumer base.
>>1034917 I thought it was blackpill at first too but I think those two are just normal election anxiety, I'm seeing it even outside of 8moe. Though I'll admit I have no idea what <<1034928 is about
>>1035027 Yes and it'd be onoy better
>>1034988 >>1035027 >>1035076 I hope that if things do descend into global nuclear war, that it balances out by becoming one of the most retarded and funniest wars in history.
>First image You joke, but there's a nonzero change that at least one of those unironically gets nominated for Games for Change.

I'm not sure anything, apart from ER SotE (which is DLC), comes close to Metaphor this year. Surely it would rake the awards right?
>>1034848 Can't wait to see Synth's reaction this year.
>>1035393 <Tolerance stat <Terrible localization <Idealizing equity and gay socialist bullshit while villainizing meritocracy. <Any actual good fantasy bonds and/or romance are hijacked by stupid persona not-social-links so we can appeal to the personaniggers. <Feels like a incomplete game clearly made for a "complete edition" in a year or two. I hope it gets snubbed, though I know it's unlikely. Incredibly disappointed that it was no more than fantasy persona with some random nostalgia wankery for a few other Atlus franchises thrown in there. I know point 3 is more nuanced than that, too, but the aim is still to villainize the concept of meritocracy. I'd still side with Louis though even with his evil plans. >>1035554 Why do people take this clown seriously again? Dude clearly cares more about futa cock than making a good review. He's like if a /pol/ and /b/ obsessed schizo became a game reviewer and a good 85% of his reviews are said schizo ramblings and degenerate nonsense instead of making good points about the games he's reviewing. The only tolerable review I think he's made is his Starfield one but that's because he managed to aim his schizo bullshit at a good target for once. Since that shit was actually a major problem with the game. There's also no guarantee he'll still be around, or he'll even do the stream, after that strike he received possibly leading to more sometime soon. >>1034973 I mentally filter out remakes when it comes to lists like this. I keep forgetting the committee does not. As for Like a Dragon, yeah I can see that one getting nominated too, just forgot it existed after all the bullshit around the NG+ DLC. Thinking on it more, you can probably expect a few shit games to get in on virtue of having some sales volume or companies pulling favors, games like Dragon's Dogma 2 or Star Wars Outlaws. So, revised prediction list on my part, then. >Granblue Fantasy Relink >Black Myth Wukong >Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth >Metaphor Re:Fantazio >Persona 3 Reloaded >Helldivers 2 (assuming it doesn't get shoved into the live service games category) >Resident Evil 2 Remake >Dragon's Dogma 2 (maybe) >Dragon Age: Veilguard (maybe) >Star Wars: Outlaws (maybe) Anything else as a serious nominee contender?
>>1035647 Nice job conveniently forgetting about Space Marine 2, the only real contender for GotY
>>1035671 I forgot about it, honestly. I don't care much for 40k or GW in general after Age of Sigmar and all the related bullshit. Though now that you brought it to my attention, fuck GW, I hope they get nothing. Also realized I put RE2 Remake instead of Silent Hill 2 Remake, got the games confused since they're basically the same thing gameplay-wise with the camera changes and the paint everywhere, well, tissue paper everywhere in SH2's case but it does the same job.
>>1035647 >cares more about futa cock ???
>>1035647 >As for Like a Dragon, yeah I can see that one getting nominated too, just forgot it existed after all the bullshit around the NG+ DLC. I did as well until I did some quick research about what games were released this year. I was on the fence about buying/playing the game, but once I saw all that stuff about the censorship/DEI in the game, which was subsequently defended by the executive director, I decided that I would definitely never play it. That aside, maybe I'm not in the right circles, but it seems like no one is talking about the game. Sure, 9 months ago it had sold over 1 million worldwide, but it seems like it hasn't made as big of a splash as its predecessors. Which could possibly determine if it shows up as a GOTY nominee. >>1035671 >Space Marine 2 The game does have fans and has sold well enough. Many people would name it their personal GOTY too. But there's a slim chance it would appear on the Game Awards instead of a game from someone like Sony, Nintendo, etc. >>1035687 >Silent Hill 2 Remake This one will be up there as a contender. The Silent Hill name, and the fact that it is from Capcom, will bring it to the top easily.
>>1035706 Went on a massive tangent about Gerudo being futas and general bitching about a woman-only society in his Tears of the Kingdom review, alongside a bunch of other stupid shit like saying Tauro was only added for Big Black Cock/Blacked propaganda regarding Paya. Spent most of his review rambling about that kind of shit and when he did talk about the game itself it was him going "why should I try at any of the puzzles when shield+rocket beats everything" and similar statements showing his metamancy tendencies and other annoying philosophies.
>>1035647 >but the aim is still to villainize the concept of meritocracy No it doesn't as the game very much praises it at several points and the MC himself engages, with meritocracy.
>>1035730 lol. Did he really call them futas or 'izzat doublespeak for tranny? He has some of the most retarded takes imaginable and I wouldn't put it past him.

>>1035647 >Why do people take this clown seriously again? He does make good points, the schizo ramblings are just a minor part of his reviews and they're funny in an Alex Jones sort of way.

>>1035730 >sees tanned man <thinks of black cock >sees tanned woman <thinks of futa cock
>>1034848 Can't wait for Last of Us 2: The Remake win best family friendly section and best fighting game.
>>1035647 >>1035730 To put it in simple terms: I find him pretty funny. Of course he's not the best media critic, but I appreciate the way he frequently drops redpills, including JQ stuff (very rare for a modern-day jewtube channel). As for his ridiculous Zelda rant, that shit was mostly comical. He obviously wasn't that serious about it. (But yes, he does seem to have a thing for dickgirls to some extent.)
Why watch The Game Awards? Tuned in once, saw drag queens giving speeches, never watched the garbage again.
>>1036068 >Why watch The Game Awards? Game previews and debuts mostly.
>>1036069 I'll watch game previews and debuts separately, hours late's worth no politics.
>>1036071 Well there's also the possibility of something fun happening like >>1034853 >>1034863
