Metal Gear Anonymous 04/17/2025 (Thu) 16:30:15 Id: c1a82a No. 1115160
What's your favorite game in the series? Which entry do you think is particularly underrated? Let us discuss this epic series.
>>1116249 I'll play it because I am starved for tactical espionage action. But it is a cashgrab and something to train the new hires at Konami. I am lukewarm about it.
>>1116249 I am, but I'm dying for new Metal Gear content, even if it's just a remake.

Favorite gun in the series? For me it's the FAMAS.
>>1115160 >What's your favorite game in the series? MGS2. Tightest gameplay, level design and mechanics in the series and a really interesting story to talk about. >Which entry do you think is particularly underrated? Portable Ops. Kojima himself more or less ignores it but its actually a decent title with MGS3 style gameplay. If you like Peace Walker then Portable Ops should be right up your ally. Since Konami is clearly trying to revive the series, what kind of direction do you they can take? The official storyline is more or less over and I can't think of any other characters or plots to explore.
>>1122678 Raiden as the protag. Old Snake would be relegated to a Codec/support role. Raiden being a cyborg would make for a great excuse to equip him with all sorts of creative gadgets to be used as stealth mechanics, and, unlike his Revengeance counterpart, Otacon and Sunny would reappropriate his body into one that's to serve primarily sneaking purposes.
I've always had a soft spot for MGS2.
>>1122783 As for the story, they can always justify the emergence of a new rogue terrorist group that hijacks yet again a new Metal Gear that the US or whoever else had been developing in secret.
I only ever played Twin Snakes and both V games. Was thinking of grabbing 3 on pc but idk

Ah, I want metal gear acid 3. Every game has card systems now so the iron is clearly hot for more card based stealth.
I only played three but MGS3 > MGS1 >>>>> MGS4 replayed MGS4 recently. Can't really tolerate the retarded pretentious storytelling and hour long cutscenes anymore. "Kojima is a hack" was on my mind the whole time. MGS3 and MGS1 still hold up tho.
>>1122945 4 is fun doe. Lots of tools and mechanics to play around with. And the story has its moments.
>>1115160 >Which entry do you think is particularly underrated?
>>1122783 >>1122870 didn't Old Snake actually die in MGS4
>>1122783 >Raiden The problem is that post MGS2 he is too fucking strong. A cyborg who is able to make quick work of Gekkos wouldn't be threatened by regular guards. Imo the best Raiden game would be set between MGS2 and 4 and be about him trying to save Sunny, a plot point talked about but not shown. It would serve as a nice bridge between the end of MGS2 and his cyborgization.

>>1122980 You know, Ghost Babel is something of a goldmine for Konami that they're entirely forgetting about. Rather than picking at Kojima's (or rather Fukushima's since Jimbo's a credit-stealing hack) leftovers with remakes, or risking backlash touching the "golden goose" original series with bullshit like Metal Gear Survive, Ghost Babel is explicitly in its own alternate continuity that's rich with opportunities for them to explore and put their own spin on things without being entirely beholden to what's come before. It's perfect for their interests. But it's more effort than Pachinko - and even after having Corona-chan beat their brains in with a steel chair for their short-sightedness, they'll never do anything that isn't a quick and easy fleece. Yugioh proves as much.
>>1123331 it's like seeing what MGS could be in a parallel universe
>>1123331 I owned Babel but I don't think I ever beat it. I do remember it being fun as fuck. Kinda wish we'd get a new parallel/alt universe. A "What if" kind of thing. Just to get more Metal Gear.
>>1123609 it's the only way to progress in a way that actually makes sense other than letting Platinum make an MGR sequel
>>1116249 Honestly I'm hyped for the new models that will almost assuredly be used to create porn. EVA SEXO

>>1123644 It'd be cool if AC!Ds got reworked into a proper MG game. Like, keep the story but give it main line game mechanics. Plus Snake from AC!D looks cool.
>>1123000 Not really, he's given a few months/years to live since the Foxdie has become inactive. I don't recall if they even confirm he's dead in MGR
>>1125964 thought he died in a giant microwave tunnel thing
the MGS3 remake will have Vtubers. Apparently one vtumor named Pomu quit her company because Konami offered to include this MGS fangirl in the remake in some way. But her company ultimately refused to collab with Konami. It makes you wonder if Konami offered this to any other vtubers. I know that Kojima is a huge vtumorfag now.
>>1126159 >MGS in 2025 >Kojima
>>1126066 No? Did you play the game?
>>1126159 >vtuber Don't remind me of a awful Metal Gear vtuber song when the Master Collection released
>>1115160 >What's your favorite game in the series? MGS2: Substance, purely because the gameplay is tight and stands on it's own and far above the rest of the series, it's just a bit of a shame the main game sort of does not take advantage of it but yeah you still get a solid 70hr of pure gameplay from the VR missions. >Which entry do you think is particularly underrated? Honestly MGS4, yes it's fanservicey garbage but the gameplay side of things has so much stuff that go almost entirely unused, it's like MGS2 in that sense but taken even farther, you barely have to graze the depth of gameplay to handle everything you'd wanna be doing in the game
>>1127003 I looked it up. It's fucking Mori because of course it is. As if her shitting out Persona music wasn't bad enough
>>1127949 Bitch has been getting around a lot lately. She made music for DC's shitty Suicide Squad Isekai too, I recall.
>>1129134 I'm semi convinced she's either blowing some people or sending recordings of her moaning through dms
>>1115307 MGS3 introduced the worst Mary Sue in all of serious fiction and rewrote the entire franchise's storyline to be two men fighting over incorrect interpretations of what she said. That's shit.
>>1130638 >"""mary sue""" >dies You zoomers ruined this word
>>1122678 >Since Konami is clearly trying to revive the series, what kind of direction do you they can take? The official storyline is more or less over and I can't think of any other characters or plots to explore. I've been expecting remakes of the original Metal Gear games for ages since they don't fit all that well with the later stuff Kojima did. Unfortunately Konami lost faith in the series and Kojima went insane before it happened, but I'd be interested if they went in this direction.
>>1126775 >Did you play the game? no...
