Can we have a Stalker thread? I've recently tried out what all the fuss around GAMMA is about and I must say it's quite a fun experience For people who don't know, it's a customizable modpack for Anomaly (a freeplay mod consiting all areas of the first 2 stalker games) and comes with its own updater and Mod organizer 2 config. You need the GAMMA launcher fiels wich can be downloaded from theri shitcord, but if you are a boomer like me who doesn't want to make an aacount you can just download this somewhat older build off mediafire and it will update itself upon lauch to the newest version. https://www.mediafire.com/folder/agyul0e6fbban/STALKER_GAMMA Then you need Anomaly itself which can be downlaoded here: https://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-anomaly/downloads Unpack both into their seperate folders and then point the MO2 from the gamma folder towards the Anomaly folder and from there it will be basically autopilot. I enjoyed the A-life in this and how the best parts of the original trilogy are expanded upon, specifically the hobo phase. Weapon and armor upgrades feel siginifcant but you can even start out with some decent gear since you get a few points to spend on a new game. I'd recommend tweaking the MCM settings to your liking though, stuff like dropped ammo amount and gear condition based on rank for example. I also didn't like the brown and colorless look of the default install, reinstalling the grass and weater mods gives several options like spring, summer, autumn, winter etc.

>>1147936 I've never tried gamma, but I do enjoy anomaly with a few mods. Everytime I look at gamma it just looks like it adds way too much stuff. My anomaly modlist is just trader overhaul, crouch cover camera fix, a mod that adds patch icons when you hover over stalkers so you can tell their factions and that's basically it. I don't want anymore.

>>1151434 It's pretty insane, they coudn't even figure out how to do proper scopes and went the 2006 way of just zooming in the FOV with a reticle overlay inside a clear window that is supposed to be the scope. The sad part is that they did have PIP scopes in the announce trailer.

I might give it a try next time I feel the STALKER urge, I really do not care for stupid scarcity and micromanagement bullshit, stock Anomaly is as far as I'm willing to go on that front but it lacks stuff to drive you to do things and I like having a metric fuckton of guns as well.

God I miss games with this aesthetic Wasteland 1 is pure depression, I fucking love it, damn shame it never made it to the final game. It would be perfect for one of of the more grim endings.

Should I play Anomaly unmodded first to get the hang of things or just jump straight into Gamma?

Having to micromanage my inventory a lot less than Anomaly is a big plus, but like >>1148214 said I'm not a fan of the sleeping mechanic - or at least the decay rates, I can't even get a couple hours into the day without my character needing energy drinks like he's going through withdrawal. Anyone happen to know the values for vigor decay anyway? I tried sifting through the script files but I'm not deep enough into modding to know what to look for. Noticed a weird oddity where loading a save has a chance of spawning a fuckton of mutants on your position for some retarded reason, if I'm reloading a save to try and get an artefact unstuck the last think I want is for 4 bloodsuckers and 8 cats to appear out of thin fucking air - at least in Anomaly the bloodsucker fuckers had the decency of dying in one or two buckshot shells rather than tank 3 of them and run circles around me. Also NPCs are more retarded than even the original trilogy and will frequently throw grenades at themselves. All in all it's not bad, feels like a cross between CoC and Anomaly without going too far into inventoryautism, but personally it's not quite there as my go-to 'sandbox Zone' experience
>>1176487 That sounds pretty rough, in GAMMA sleep is not an issue. You won't get to the first stage of sleepiness until like 22:00 considering you got up at 8:00 and even if you do from taking too much medicine/food you can just take some caffeine tablets.
