Touhou thread Anonymous 11/28/2022 (Mon) 19:25:06 Id: 86eef2 No. 743550
GATHER ROUND YEE OTAKU AS I TELL YEE WHY CIRNO IS THE BEST 2HU 1. She's the STRONGEST 2. She's the SMARTEST 3. She's the CUTEST All you fags who waifu over tengu or okuu, you'll never have true bliss unless you abandon all yokai and mortal tendencies and bow down to THE STRONGEST FAIRY With that autism out of the way, I've been playing a bit of Touhouvania game and I'm kinda hoping we get a third one since Touhouvania 2 is also coming to Steam next year, which I'm quite looking forward too. What's your favorite Touhou mainline and fangames /v/?
>>1022933 She must be a government-tan. The government loves making mental patients out of threats to the regime.
>>1022953 No anon, these are people that have already been diagnosed and committed unrelated to her.
>>1022953 >>1022961 I thought of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
>>1022917 I made it much farther with much fewer deaths, then starting burning lives on Sakuya and Remilia. Died at the same close to final attack by Remilia, so even though I felt like I was doing better, I made zero progress. I wonder if I'll ever get to fight Flan?
>>1022989 Anthony Burch?
>>1022917 6 has a very tiny timespan of where you can deathbomb, which makes it a good game to start with. Going from base touhou to the newer ones which contain certain QoL features is better than the other way.

>>1023155 I beat Remilia, but not really. I got all the way to her without any continues, then I had to use 3 continues fighting her, so I still didn't unlock Flandre. I'm going to move on the second game for now.
>>1023155 >6 has a very tiny timespan of where you can deathbomb, which makes it a good game to start with. Definitely. If you tried to start with 8 using the Border team, going from their ridiculously long deathbomb window to any other game would get really frustrating. Scarlet team was more fun to play anyway though.
>>1023292 I tried Perfect Cherry Blossom. Got to Youmu 1CC Normal, then she made me use two continues. I really don't like Yuyuko's patterns. It's frustrating that now that I can see my own hitbox unlike in the last game, the boss starts throwing larger energy orbs that themselves have unclear hitboxes. I think I beat the first three bosses without dying and with only one bomb.
>>1023327 I still find it hilarious that Ricardo became popular 10 years after this. As long as we keep posting, the internet of old is eternal.
>>1023327 >I really don't like Yuyuko's patterns Of her five ordinary spellcards, I only ever captured the first one with the spinning laser, and on my actual 1cc I screwed that one up too, and died with four bombs in stock. For her special card my record's at 1/31, and I bombed it during the 1cc. Even some of her nonspells were nasty. That one with the lines of teal knives moving in weird curves gave me no end of grief.
>>1023327 >>1023342 But I meant to add that despite how they are to play, the fight itself is beautiful, and combined with the music, the overall spectacle is the best boss fight in the series.
>>1023292 You're stopping too early. You should at least 1CC it once. Remember to use bombs, you have them for a reason. (and you waste them everytime you die with them)
>>1023405 I play other games instead of chasing 1CCs.
I find patchouli a lot harder than sakuya cuz of the fire bullets. Stage 5 is pretty easy for me after learning all the safe spots and knowing when to time out mid boss sakuya
>>1023440 On what difficulty? I've gotten through both fire bullet attacks without bombs, but that was on Normal. They're slow and big gaps.
>>1023453 Normal on Reimu A, the Agni Shine spellcard in particular is what I'm having a hard time dealing with. I won't lose a single life up until that point. The way the bullets circle around and overlap really fucks with me. I think it has something to do with the rank being high when I reach her.
>>1022917 >but 15 only in Legacy Mode I meant Point Device. Got them confused. No way I got anywhere in Legacy.

>>1023440 >>1023462 It was the opposite for me. Patchouli's cards had a ~50% capture rate, except Lava Cromlech which was lower. Meanwhile Sakuya's boss fight was utter misery; I sort of got the hang of Clock Corpse (record 17/55), but Luna Clock and Marionette were both impossible (1/49 and 0/43 respectively). Even Eternal Meek was better than those (9/40). And Meiling's last card also gave me grief. Pure micrododging of random swarms left me bombing nearly every time. That was another 1/43 record.
>>1023552 NO BULLY He’s trying his best…
>>1023803 YES BOOLIE In case of signs of any butthurt, please consult Eirin

Touhou 19 is quite some fun. But the characters are weirdly, or the fairies are just that strong. They don't explode as easily as in 9. Weirdly enough the danmaku is also much easier, boring even. Unless you play against the bullet vomit. Canonically, shouldn't Reimu just exterminate her like she did with fortune teller?
>>1025845 >Weirdly enough the danmaku is also much easier, boring even. >Unless you play against the bullet vomit. Maybe ZUN wanted to make the game easier to beat for the newcomers getting into the genre.
>>1025851 I remember he did that with 16 already, after having 15 inspired by I wanna be the guy in terms of difficulty. Touhou is generally already a fairly easy shooter. One of the easiest available.
Is the remaster of Scarlet Symphony good if I didn't play the Scarlet Symphony from 2009? What changes does it make?
>>1026261 It adds voice acting and runs better on modern day Windows/Wine, but is otherwise just as 同人 as the original.
Did Mark ever do his retromags donation for the Cirno post >>1000000
>>1027908 >>1027909 Yeah, take a look at >>1022927
Also does anyone wanna make a new thread soon?
>>1027973 How about making this thread cyclical?
>>1024382 It mighr be forgivable to play easy mode if you are an any% speedrunner and it helps your clear time.
>>1028074 That could be possible, but there isn't a precedent for it. For all of the other threads based around discussion of a specific series, a new thread is made when the old one reaches the bump limit. It has happened with the Blue Archive, Sonic, and Souls Discussion threads, for example.
