What is your opinion on 8kun? Anonymous 09/06/2024 (Fri) 11:41:37 No. 462842
Sorry if this is off-topic. I'm just curious how 8chan and 8kun compare in terms of altchans and if there are any others you prefer.

The direct descendant of the OG 8chan is 8kun. This could not be more strongly emphasized than boards on here saying 8kun is their backup.

>>463991 >The emergence of QAnon was probably the worst part of it. A group of Trump supporters—the extremist kind who believed in such conspiracy theories—started arriving at the site and blended with the /pol/lacks, which was a bad combination. Qtards didn't blend with shit. They were out of touch boomers sequestered on hidden boards. Most of the already existing userbase didn't even realize they were there until it was too late to curb their malignant cancer. >the threads were still there like >we left them No, they weren't. Boards were slowly restored one by one with heavy bias. Particularly, loli boards and /pol/ were never allowed again, and there was no clear communication about this fact until people forced it out of Codemonkey and Jimbo. On top of that, many boards that had been restored had most or all of their files from pre-shutdown 404'd. >No one lets /pol/ take over anymore—they can be around, but since their influence is tied to site-killing This is purely your headcanon. /v/ is as /pol/ as ever, but the population has been whittled down so much that a /pol/ board can't be supported by organic posting. /pol/ is not the cause of anything you're blaming it on, it's a scapegoat for why the site failed to you, just like 8chan was a scapegoat for the Tarrant shooting. >I’m not sure what happened to the /leftypol/ users, though. They have their own site, and may be in part responsible for the recent takedown of 420chan. Leftist thought, both minor and extremist, is allowed quite freely by moderation of most mainstream websites that the general activity of the net has coalesced into. They never had a need to go to an ebil right wing weeaboo pedo terrorist site like 8chan, their speech was hardly ever suppressed online. They were on 8chan purely as saboteurs.
>>464001 >Qtards didn't blend with shit. They were out of touch boomers sequestered on hidden boards. Most of the already existing userbase didn't even realize they were there until it was too late to curb their malignant cancer. Qtards absolutely blend with /pol/tards, they were both conspiracy lunatics that hated wokes, the only difference was, yes, that Qtards were boomers and /pol/ fucks were zoomers. >They never had a need to go to an ebil right wing weeaboo pedo terrorist site like 8chan, their speech was hardly ever suppressed online. No, /leftypol/ wasn't your average left woke bitch, they were actually fucking insane lunatics that would be seen as rambling retards everywhere outside 8chan. Yes, they were absolutely saboteurs, but they weren't tourists. >>464001 >No, they weren't. This is very likely, I admit I didn't go to loli boards or /pol/ boards, so the boards I used to go to were left intact. Most images 404d months after.
>>464001 >This is purely your headcanon. /v/ is as /pol/ as ever, but the population has been whittled down so much that a /pol/ board can't be supported by organic posting. /pol/ is not the cause of anything you're blaming it on, it's a scapegoat for why the site failed to you, just like 8chan was a scapegoat for the Tarrant shooting. idk man, I haven't found any other imageboard site where /pol/ has so much power that threads OUTSIDE of /pol/ could be closed for not agreeing with /pol/ ideology like 8chan during 2018, like on /tv/ or /v/. Most sites would tell any /pol/tard that tries to derail the thread for political issues to go back to their containment. This probably was the common and 8chan the outlier, but /pol/, collectively absolutely had tangible power in late "h8chan" which is something I haven't seen since.
>Users of an imageboard made for the express purpose of exodusing from 8kun, what is your opinion on 8kun? What do you think it is?

>>464001 >Leftist thought, both minor and extremist, is allowed quite freely by moderation of most mainstream websites At the time most of the left was on board mostly with identity politics, and those who didn't buy into (((culture war))) bullshit basically had no home on the internet, being against idpol was /leftypol/'s unique feature. >They never had a need to go to an ebil right wing weeaboo pedo terrorist site like 8chan Imageboards aren't just free speech political sites, they have their own culture, history, memes, etc. The admin of /leftypol/ was someone who used 4chan since 2004 so it's likely one of the main reasons for /leftypol/'s creation was that many leftists used imageboards and liked the culture/format.
>>464006 he is the reason for commie cat
>>464002 >Qtards absolutely blend with /pol/tards, they were both conspiracy lunatics that hated wokes, the only difference was, yes, that Qtards were boomers and /pol/ fucks were zoomers. A couple of shared traits does not prove they blended. Qtards had no idea how imageboards worked and just follow the links they were given to the hidden boards. They hardly ever went to /pol/ that I knew of, and their posting styles make them stick out like a sore thumb. It sound like you're just making shit up because it's easier to blame everything on conspiracy theorists and paint with a wide brush. > they were actually fucking insane lunatics that would be seen as rambling retards everywhere outside 8chan. I've seen plenty of lunatic left wing shit outside 8chan. The bias on twitter towards partisan extremism was probably the most publicly visible source of such examples >I admit I didn't go to loli boards or /pol/ board Then how can you claim the qtards blended in with /pol/? I only went to /pol/ once in a blue moon to make drive by shitposts like "There is literally nothing wrong with being a Jew :^)" and watch the chaos until that bait got old and stopped garnering replies, and even I can tell you the difference between the average /pol/ user and Qboomers is night and day. Again, I must reiterate, the Qtards rarely used any of the popular public boards. They went straight to the hidden board /qresearch/ and a couple other hidden Q boards and didn't do much else. >>464003 >Most sites would tell any /pol/tard that tries to derail the thread for political issues to go back to their containment. That's kind of a difficult line in the sand to draw given explicit constant pushes from the left for heavy handed propaganda and censorship in entertainment media from within the industries. Constantly getting hit with that shit would make most people start jumping at shadows by keeping a look out for even more ambiguous hints of left wing politics being pushed in entertainment. >>464006 You make a couple good points. I didn't visit /leftypol/ enough to notice they're against idpol. That would piss off much of the internet's left wing moderators.

>>463991 >I was around 16 when I started lurking on 4chan in 2012-2013. It was great; No it wasn't. 4chan was complete dogshit by 2012. Oldfags had been trying to create a better home elsewhere for years by then. >mainly how mods and LEA were slow to deal with CP but acted instantly to control the leaked nudes of adult celebrities—upset a lot of people And moralfaggots who clutched their pearls over CP were a big reason why it was dogshit. >a lot of /pol/lacks also moved to the site, and pretty quickly, they became the majority. /pol/tards and /r9k/ virgins with rage were already a majority on 4chan, so that was no surprise. >/leftypol/, which is its own can of worms, as it attempted several false flag attacks on the site to try and displace /pol/'s dominance. Lel, I never saw that. All I saw was /pol/tards going postal IRL and then trying to blame everyone else for what they themselves did. Of course, /leftypol/ was mostly just a bunch of ex-/pol/tards who jumped ship, so who knows what they all actually got up to. >Around this time, Hotwheels had stepped down as the site owner. That was the end. We just didn't know it yet. >Things really started to go downhill around 2018. Something changed, although I can't pinpoint exactly what. 8chan began to have more contact with the real world. It was growing too fast, gaining attention, and became the second biggest chan after 4chan. 8chan's talking points, memes, ideologies, etc., started appearing directly on mainstream social media. The emergence of QAnon was probably the worst part of it. A group of Trump supporters—the extremist kind who believed in such conspiracy theories—started arriving at the site and blended with the /pol/lacks, which was a bad combination. They became activists in the Chanology sense, but instead of dressing in masks and acting silly for teh lulz they shot up a bunch of innocent randos to protect the white race. >There were rumors that the FBI tried to incite shootings. There’s evidence of this in public court documents showing the FBI attempting to convince anons to start a shooting, and they messed it up because they didn’t understand that (you) appears in your posts, making it obvious it was staged. Kek. /pol/ wanted so desperately to not admit that it was them who was killing people that they came up with the most outlandish goofball conspiracy theories and spread their own disinformation. Don't buy their bullshit. It was all them. What do you expect from a bunch of loonies who try to meme a chaos god into existence? >I’m not sure what happened to the /leftypol/ users, though. They dispersed. Some went to bunkerchan for a while, before the BO there went crazy (a common occurrence for site admins). No new site has filled the void. >>464001 >Qtards didn't blend with shit. There was a nasty rift in /pol/ when the Qtards tried to keep the Trump train running after he prayed at the Western Wall in Jerusalem and made a bunch of Zionist statements that were impossible for the /pol/tards to reconcile. >just like 8chan was a scapegoat for the Tarrant shooting. LOL, scapegoat my ass. >>464003 I remember reading a transcript of an interview that Hot Wheels gave after he left where he talked about being surprised that the supposed libertarians on /pol/ were so eager to use every dirty trick in the book to shut down any speech that they didn't agree with. >>464006 >At the time most of the left was on board mostly with identity politics, and those who didn't buy into (((culture war))) bullshit basically had no home on the internet, being against idpol was /leftypol/'s unique feature. "The new Old Left" they liked to call themselves. It was definitely something different--an odd amalgam of 4chan oldfags, labor organizers, anarchists, and a whole sea of ex-/pol/tards who originally went there to pwn da libs and got themselves converted instead. >The admin of /leftypol/ was someone who used 4chan since 2004 so it's likely one of the main reasons for /leftypol/'s creation was that many leftists used imageboards and liked the culture/format. What do you know. Bill O'Reilly was right about us the whole time.

People were pissed because we always knew we had LEA infiltrators that didn't do jack shit about it but the moment some famous, adult sluts' photos appeared in the site, the whole force of the law mobilized to shut that shit down. /pol/ getting shut down and Gamergate happening at the same time were arguably a bigger reason for the original big 4chan exodus though. >Lel, I never saw that. You're outright fucking lying you nigger. Those were site wide unavoidable dramas. Even I that just stuck to my boards witnessed it. The only other place I knew of that would tell /pol/tards to fuck off was /lolcow/ whenever they tried to categorize all lolcows as leftist and defended all the right wing ones. And maybe /b/, whenever zoos, pedos or any other degenerate was in charge of the board for that week.

>>464036 >Nobody clutched their pearls over CP, we all laughed at jannies who took too long to take it down and joked about them taking so long because they wanted to download it (Having said that, there was definitely an increase in CP posting around 2013). In the days of WT Snacks being an active admin we were complaining about that, because it was actually happening then, not five-to-ten years later. And, no, CP was absolutely more common in the old days, like ubiquitous. Then there was the jailbait, which wasn't even banned in the old days. By 2013 the admins had figured out how to block the old "rar files hidden inside jpgs" trick, and most of the proxies that ban evaders had been using had been permab& which prevented the usual dumps that had previously been used to close undesirable threads. In 2013 and beyond newfags were mostly just trying to use perfectly legal gore pics to shut down threads, because they were too tech illiterate to do delayclose. It did not work particularly well because the people they were trying to shut down had already seen and posted far worse and gore didn't call for any janitorial intervention. A little bit of CP slipped into the cancer era, but it was probably mostly just posted by oldfags to drive newfags crazy because they knew it would. I didn't stick around long enough at that point to really get a sense of who was doing what, but the spam had for teh lulz written all over it. >People were pissed because we always knew we had LEA infiltrators that didn't do jack shit about it but the moment some famous, adult sluts' photos appeared in the site, the whole force of the law mobilized to shut that shit down. I do remember the law against "revenge porn" that got passed around that time. The CP and JB was already all but gone, so they needed something to police the site over. By then, 4chan administration was deeply in bed with LEA, as they had to be to avoid getting V& themselves, especially after LulzSec made the cops absolutely lose their shit. So, naturally, the admins acted quickly to follow whatever laws they were required to. >/pol/ getting shut down and Gamergate happening at the same time were arguably a bigger reason for the original big 4chan exodus though. The original big 4chan exodus happened in 2007 when a bunch of anons jumped ship for 7chan, and other, lesser chans followed. Gamergate was just what made 8chan significant. Halfchan nuking /pol/ was too little, too late. It had already turned too much of the user base into srz bzns IRL crusaders. >You're outright fucking lying you nigger. Those were site wide unavoidable dramas. Even I that just stuck to my boards witnessed it. IIRC, after the last sabotage attempt by /leftypol/ they were banned from the site and this was well before even Qanon. Top kek! /leftypol/ was nothing but a handful of guys before Qtardation took off. The board became a boogieman to /pol/ before it was even remarkable, and they took to blaming /leftypol/ for absolutely everything, usually shit that they did themselves. Brennan talked about that after he left as well. /leftypol/ only started to pick up a significant user base with the subsequent /pol/ raids when the raiders made the mistake of trying to argue with people who had a fair understanding of the subjects. The raiders stayed after the raids to argue and got themselves converted. At its high point, which was well into the Q era, /leftypol/ was mostly composed of former /pol/ raiders, but even then they hardly did much raiding. The only really significant raid they actually organized was dissemination of poljack, and they only got organized for that after 4/pol/ lost its shit in comical fashion at the OC's creator. >Hot Wheels is fucking retarded if he thought /pol/ was ever libertarian, what the fuck. >A lot of anons were, but not /pol/ You don't remember Unite the Right? They had an uneasy cohabitation that only really blew up when the BO started banning /pol/tards who criticized Trump for being a flagrant, open Jew-lover. The supposed "libertarian-to-nazi pipeline" was often used to needle the libertarians and ancaps when more of them started supporting the nazis' position against the BO's because of free speech.
>>464079 >You don't remember Unite the Right? The supposed "libertarian-to-nazi pipeline" was often used to needle the libertarians and ancaps when more of them started supporting the nazis' position against the BO's because of free speech. But there was /liberty/ as well. /liberty/ was home base for the ancaps and libertarians. They had a lot of cross-board movement with /pol/ much like /leftypol/ did. /liberty/ is a forgettable board, largely because /pol/ and /leftypol/ produced most of the drama. /liberty/ just kind of sat there feeding users to the two more prominent political boards. They had theory for anons who were into that, just nothing on par with what /leftypol/ had. They had memes and righteous indignation, just nothing that approached what one could find at /pol/. The one and only time I visited .kun, it looked an awful lot like what /liberty/ used to be like--self-impressed and kind of boring.

I wish 8moe /co/ would be busier but it pretty dead, sadly.
