OPERATION MAX REVIVE Rebuild the board's userbase and activity through simple, but effective methods 1. Post across the entire board Activity creates activity. Use threads you like, make new ones if topics don't exist. Easy examples are Drawthreads and Friday Night threads, go request or draw something right now. 2. Recruit and recover lost or potential anons Use this site's OC and features to entice anons if necessary when recruiting, just inform that we are alive. Here's some sites and links with at least some confirmed anons that can be recruited again: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/8chotwheels https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SSAVCH https://steamcommunity.com/groups/video_games https://steamcommunity.com/groups/8chmohun https://steamcommunity.com/groups/8chan_monster https://steamcommunity.com/groups/GoodLuckEbolaChan https://steamcommunity.com/search/groups/#text=8ch.net https://steamcommunity.com/search/groups/#text=8chan Other sites that might yield fruitful results and have anons (art sites use an account so you can see 18+ content):
[Expand Post]https://www.deviantart.com/search?q=Vivian+James https://www.newgrounds.com/search/summary?suitabilities=etm&terms=Vivian%20James https://twitter.com/search?q=Vivian%20James&src=typed_query&f=image https://rpgcodex.net/ https://old.reddit.com/r/KotakuInAction/ Somewhere on Telegram Just searching up GG or 8chan-related terms on certain places/sites can get you possible results. 3. Make your own OC/Memes/Content Doesn't matter what it is even if its just simple edits or full-on drawings or webms, just make it and have fun. Ask in thread for software recs if necessary. 4. Encourage or create fun events, activities, projects, etc. Think things like 8chanmania, weekly streams, re-translation projects, demo days, or zzz's gaming magazine for example. If you want to do something, try making or reviving it, it can't hurt and these things are great for the board. 5. Use other boards All it takes for a board to grow is at least 2 dedicated anons using it. Don't be afraid to make a post, check places periodically, shill, or what have you. Don't force discussions to boards, just encourage the usage of them. 2. OPERATION TRAJAN: Collect and catalog all of the various localization and censorship accounts of past video games into a single repository from these sources: romhacking.net The_Cutting_Room_Floor/tcrf.net Segaretro.org https://redirect.invidious.io/channel/UCFItIX8SIs4zqhJCHpbeV1A Examples: http://archive.vn/XQOHW Sony's policies forces censorship; JP devs allegedly have to go through ENG approval process: https://archive.fo/awzFF - Japanese blog post about it: https://archive.fo/bF9bE Sony Japan President Says PS4 Censorship Policy Is To Match Global Standards And Protect Kids: https://archive.fo/U3GLa - Confirms censorship was deliberate: https://archive.fo/XgAgP - No rules for censorship policies, games judged case-by-case: https://archive.fo/37DhK - Marvelous partner starts petition against policy: https://archive.fo/rxQtf https://archive.fo/84UHo • Twitterfags: Tweet with Sony's stock code $SNE so that investors see your tweets and know you're pissed. • Consider spreading OP Timber materials to targets as well: http://archive.vn/URjtu ONGOING TASKS: A. Remember to spread this chart to the Nips who want to experience what Western developed video games are all about! Rather than let companies try to push the latest AAA cinematic garbage or "Indie-made" art-house trash as the "peak" of Western games, and demand that Japan needs to emulate "those titles" in order to stay competitive, send this image to Japanese friends and colleagues to show them the titles that companies prefer they didn't know about. If you don't know someone to send it to, post the image on their vidya discussion boards, tag it to Nip e-celebs, and/or send it to Japanese game creators.

>>303662 https://archive.is/wip/NUdLb The blog was updated after a google employee on twitter clarified it and a reply asked for the policy to update. >Additionally, we do not have plans to delete accounts with YouTube videos at this time.
>>303665 I take this to mean they will delete video accounts soon. This is part of The Kikening. Make The Current Year Ever More Current.
>>303666 They've already been deleting channels for several years, just that you'd get a specific topic like guns or elections being banned instead of anything with a last upload of 2 year ago, or eventually arbitrarily.
>>303664 He gave a pretty neutral response and from what other anons have said other Japanese were rather negative about the chart.
>>303668 >from what other anons have said other Japanese were rather negative about the chart. The only other responses was from /librejp/, which were rather neutral on the matter, too.
>>303669 Pretty sure he posted it on moonchan and someone said he got laughed out of town.

>>303669 They weren't as hostile 2/5ch or Futaba but it wasn't positive either. The anons on /librejp/ flat out asked "why not talk to us about what western games we like?"
>>303673 You referring to 2channel? That's a text only site. If you're referring to Futabu, he did try posting it there, but was prevented by the site's region restriction filter (Futabu has some really autistic region verification system that limits the site's userbase to almost exclusively Japanese users). However, some spergs took that statement to mean that he was v& by the site admins, and ran with the story.
>>303675 >(Futabu has some really autistic region verification system that limits the site's userbase to almost exclusively Japanese users) Can't say I blame them with all the fucking retards on the western side of things. >However, some spergs took that statement to mean that he was v& by the site admins, and ran with the story. I'm going to politely ask but are you involved with the chart?
>>303676 >I'm going to politely ask but are you involved with the chart? I did submit some games for it, most of what I suggested didn't make it in the end.
>>303677 If the makers of the chart weren't so insufferable and dense I think they'd have more success. One of the chartfags didn't even know Japanese (which whatever) but he didn't even know about Japanese IB culture or read up about what western games the average JP anon has played.
>>303678 >If the makers of the chart weren't so insufferable and dense I think they'd have more success In what regard? Much of the autism I've seen regarding the chart is a guy angry that Half-Life wasn't chosen when that wasn't a decision the chart guy even made. The games listed was decided by vote. It's why something like Spelunkey is listed but 'Mirror's Edge didn't make the cut. And, I so wanted Split/Second'' to be listed. > he didn't even know about Japanese IB culture or read up about what western games the average JP anon has played That doesn't seem relevant he keeps restating that the chart is not a "Western games for Japanese players" image. He even states it up here: >>303656 >Rather than let companies try to push the latest AAA cinematic garbage or "Indie-made" art-house trash as the "peak" of Western games, and demand that Japan needs to emulate "those titles" in order to stay competitive The chart seems more focussed on Western games influencing Japanese games.
>>303678 >>303679 And, please excuse me as I go kill myself for screwing up the text formatting.
>>303679 >Much of the autism I've seen regarding the chart is a guy angry that Half-Life wasn't chosen when that wasn't a decision the chart guy even made. Have you been in the dark about much of the autism?
>>303681 All I've seen is the JPAnon thread go to Hell because of some spergs complaining about a specific poster, who didn't appear until they started making a fuss about him, and then proceeded to spill their spaghetti when they were "surprised" that said poster showed up. Like I said last thread, it's like the pancake comic that we currently see in the OP.
>>303682 >All I've seen is the JPAnon thread go to Hell The thread is pretty ok last I checked. But you're really out of the loop as the chart guys are very retarded and actively ruined what might've been a good project with their autism. There is a reason why people don't like them and I can't blame them but they should've kept the venom in check for our guest. But the thread has been surprisingly very pleasant and the Jap anon seems like he enjoys talking to everyone.
Makers of Lightyear flop among Pixar job cuts by Disney >Walt Disney’s Pixar Animation Studios has eliminated 75 positions including those of two executives behind the box office disappointment Lightyear, sources said on Saturday, the first significant job cuts at the studio in a decade. >The cuts included Lightyear director Angus MacLane, a 26-year Pixar veteran who was part of the senior creative team on such acclaimed films as Toy Story 4 and Coco. Galyn Susman, producer of Lightyear, also departed. Susman had been at Pixar since the release of the original Toy Story movie in 1995. >Lightyear review – a trudge through outer space MacLane and Susman could not be reached for comment. Michael Agulnek, Pixar’s vice-president of worldwide publicity since 2015, was also laid off, the sources said. He did not return a call seeking comment. >The cuts, which took place on 23 May, are part of Disney chief executive Bob Iger’s previously announced plan to eliminate 7,000 jobs and slash $5.5bn in costs. >That restructuring combined the film and television groups into a single Disney Entertainment unit and eliminated a division charged with distribution. >While small compared to Pixar’s employee base of about 1,200, the layoffs are significant because the studio is a creative force generating franchises and characters that drive revenue across Disney. >Pixar is famous for cinematic franchises including Toy Story, The Incredibles and Cars. But Lightyear, released a year ago with a reported budget of $200m, brought in a modest $226.7m in worldwide ticket sales and received a mixed critical reception. >In the Guardian, Peter Bradshaw saluted a film that “just bounces along, zipping through its running time”. But in the Observer, Wendy Ide wrote: “For a film which shoots for the stars, this is disappointingly pedestrian stuff.” By contrast to Lightyear, in 2018 Pixar’s Incredibles 2, which was reported to have had a similar production budget, had worldwide box office sales of $1.2bn. >Lightyear could not be shown in 14 Middle Eastern and Asian countries because of its depiction of a same-sex relationship, affecting its box office performance. >Disney has implemented layoffs in every division including film and television, streaming services and theme parks. The last time Pixar cut jobs was in 2013, after the studio postponed the release of the 2015 film The Good Dinosaur and removed its director, Bob Peterson. About 30 positions were eliminated then. Disney acquired Pixar in 2006. https://archive.ph/gWaZQ ESG dying. Hollywood dying and nigger pill wasting his tranny life.

>>303722 Does anyone actually read western comics outside of the occasional kickstarted project here and there? There's an obvious demand for quality comicbooks, but sadly it seems that the market refuses to adapt to the consumer base which is why they try to focus on movies, games and other forms of entertainment these days.
>>303724 There's some good indies out there but from american writers it's hard to find stuff that's not superheroes or even good. Manga is the better option.
>>303724 >Does anyone actually read western comics outside of the occasional kickstarted project here and there? In general? Yeah, there's a few here and there, not as many as in the past. If you mean "american comics" only, then no, I don't even read the kickstarted shit. I've noticed that most euros would rather do amateur animation than simple comics these days, unless it's some hornyshit
>>303725 That's true.
>>303701 /co/ stopped caring about their own board subject years ago. Which is depressing; the board was in such rotten state for so long that they had to welcome a lot of faggots who talk about anything but comics and cartoons to keep it afloat. >>303724 Of course I do. It's a really cool niche. I got into eurocomics back in 2016 when some anons showed me the Kerascoet comics: Jolies Tenebres, Beaute, Voyage en Satanie and Miss Pas Touche. I live near to a place where second hand comics and books are sold so I can drop by and buy very cheap translated European stuff. In regards of american comics, well, not that much; I mostly read batman and spiderman nowadays I finished all Invinsible during pandemic and it was a fun rined; I used to be a big TWD fan but it got too long for its own good and lost the track of the history when Abraham got introduced and later they stopped printing the comics on my country.
>>303724 >Does anyone actually read western comics Ye- >outside of the occasional kickstarted project here and there? No.
>>303724 Because Western comic creators don't want to make anything other then Superhero stuff. Those rare few who do make non Superhero comics never have the stuff advertised.
>>303730 They can't exactly get much advertisement outside of comic shops.
>>303730 There's a really big market out there. You just don't care about the niche.

I enjoy reading niche things but if you aren't getting yourself out there then how will anyone know?
>>303733 Like you said, it's a niche market. Normalniggers never cared about comics. They only feign interest because they know the MCU. They don't care about a euro comic finally translated in english after 10 years.
>>303734 > Normalniggers never cared about comics. Yes and no as normalfags did buy comics not as much as comic fans but they did buy them.
>>303731 There are some fringe communities out there. How To Arsenio used to be the biggest on the spanish speaking world, now we only have La Mansión CRG as far as I know; which uses emule for file sharing; which is similar to torrenting. The european market is almost over a billion euros worth, nevertheless I don't know if they have forums dedicated to the niche. >>303733 >What big market is there? Yes, the european market worth almost one billion euros. I learned about european comics because one anon storytimed kerascoet and Tony Sandoval comics on /ac/ back in 2016. That's how things become popular, you just share them online and look for them; two things that unfortunately most anons don't do.
>>303735 As collectors items at most. They buy some volumes now for Invincible & The Boys but the MCU didn't boost comic sells there. >>303736 That's the euro market. Isn't really a market in america anymore.
>>303734 >Normalniggers never cared about comics. Euronormalfags did care for comics, it was one of their weekend funtimes, especially among the kids. Granted, it was their own market(eurocomics). Part of the reason comics have fallen so much off fashion is due to the net being so widespread and the facebook / social media / iphone craze post 2007.
>>303737 >That's the euro market. Isn't really a market in america anymore. Yeah, that's the thing. If americans really cared about the niche they would look for new stuff in other countries but instead they prefer to eternally complain about their dead-ass national industry.
>>303739 Buying what few euro comics do get brought over in english doesn't take it out of the niche though. Most fans of comics have just become too disillusioned to care anymore or moved on to manga.
>>303736 >Yes, the european market worth almost one billion euros Yet the Manga industry tops it in France itself. >That's how things become popular, you just share them online and look for them; two things that unfortunately most anons don't do. I grew up reading BDs and the issue is much of the stuff is old or have large year long gaps between albums. >>303739 >If americans really cared about the niche they would look for new stuff in other countries I'm not a Yank and many did do that and it's called Manga. Manga took over America and much of Europe (especially France) because it is so readily available and the creators are constantly making new volumes.

>>303738 This is true, I do read web comics but not print or scans.
>>303740 >Buying what few euro comics do get brought over in english doesn't take it out of the niche though How do you think the anime craze started in america? It didn't came out of nowhere, it started as a couple of autists translating and screening shit for other autists overtime it evolved into what is today. >>303741 >Yet the Manga industry tops it in France itself. Not quite. From what I've read, all the market segments are equally growing even though the manga is growing faster. Some years ago the only segment decreasing was the classic album market for obvious reasons.
>>303742 reminds me of the CalExit comic from years ago where california decided to annex and somehow it caused a civil war that lasted more than 7 hours. All I remember was that the villain was a Steve Jobs expy.

But come to think of it, maybe shit would be the same but instead people would remark the difference between american and european stuff instead os ignorantly putting them together as "western". The american national industry is so shit because boomer made it edgy and irrationally convoluted so nobody aside from the most dedicated autists could get into it. >>303749 Read my post again, never said it isn't big on France.
>>303741 >and the creators are constantly making new volumes. And Japan pays much, much more than Europe does, so it's actually a viable job to be a theoretical hiki that constantly sketches in Japan rather than in Europe. >I grew up reading BDs and the issue is much of the stuff is old or have large year long gaps between albums. Yeah, back in the day you had the benefit of following multiple series and each volume being an entire adventure in itself instead of a chapter in a whole saga, so you could jump from a series to the next.
>>303748 you know what sucks? The only comic books I can sometimes find on magazine racks at super markets is Archie. >>303755 The grocery stores here usually have them at the front of the store right next to the auto checkout. They used to be in the aisle where they'd sell gift cards and stationary but that changed in the past 7 years I want to say.

>>303750 Just enjoying the weekend. Gonna grill chicken later. >>303753 Better stuff, I think. For a given definition of "better." When I was a kid it always used to be the drug stores + ice cream parlors that had racks and racks of comic books. Whens the last time you went to a place like that? Why'd they close down? Plus every fucking kid today seems to have a smartphone or tablet, and see the act of being made to read a printed book as a punishment fit only for schools. Plus the lack of proper continuity punishes new people who do take an interest. This literally happened to me like 20 years ago: >Reading some Iron Man comic and really enjoying it. Want to see the next chapter in the story. >Next month grab the next issue of the comic off the rack, but there's no Iron Man story in it wtf? >Check again the month after that. Also no more story. >Check back one other time, like six months after just because I was passing by. Still nope. >Eventually tell this story to a friend who was a comicfag <Oh, no bro the story you wanted only had chapters 4 and 5 in the Stupendous Whaargarble issues, the next part would have come out as a vignette in The Outstanding Roflcopter #256, and then if you wanted to see the final arc you'd want to pick up The Green Glownigger #9, but you'll never get to see the ending because it was coming as part of a sidestory in the Blue Man Group crossover issue Secret Faggotry but they cancelled it and rebooted the universe again. You know what I did? I went home and played Final Fantasy 5 and decided that I was not, and would never be, a comicsfag.

>>303724 I would argue that there is no demand, but instead, a blind nostalgia for the distant past, when people who read those didn't know the stories were always jewish propaganda. Once people noticed that, they can never un-see it. They claim they want "good" comics, but what they really mean is that they want to somehow (and impossibly so), be able to forget that those comics were propaganda. They want to "go back" to their ignorance, basically. That is why you see so many people donating to new works outside the industry, but still being disappointed by the final product. Not to mention the authors that can't think outside the capeshit bubble. Whenever I read any comments on that, I always see people complaining about the lack of many things that are present heavily in manga, and when I point them to specific manga titles that have what they want, they always react by saying that "it is not the same thing". My conclusion is that they don't actually like or want anything. They just try to convince themselves of liking or wanting something, when in fact, what they really want is to go back to being ignorant about the true form and purpose of the comic books industry, which is to be a vessel for jewish indoctrination.
>>303768 those people are just scared and say manga isn't the same is because it's foreign. They're scared and envious of the competition. The real question is where the real underground comic artists at? the only ones I know about are King Wolves comics and Kamen America.
>>303758 Your report is exactly what happened to me. Read one story. Mildly liked it. Could not find the rest. Learned from some fanatic retard that I needed 4 or more different books from characters that I didn't care in order to find the rest of the story that I liked. Decided to just go read manga instead. And I am glad that I abandoned the capeshit books forever.
>>303769 Exactly. They have a mix of fear of foreign as well as brand loyalism retardation. I got into discussions that had some of those always complaining about the types of stories that they wanted. some boiled down to literally Dragon Ball Z and Shingeki no Kyojin. Once I pointed out those two manga for them to read, they made all sorts of excuses to not read them. Then, I realized: they don't want stories. They want brands. They only want a story like Shingeki no Kyojin is Wolverine or Spider-man starred in it. They only want a story like Dragon Ball if the X-Men were the protagonists. And so and so on. They only care about brand superficiality. Not about good writing, plot, lore or development. They just want to see what they are familiar with, represented on a visual medium, and call it a day.
>>303766 Fuck getting a first aid kit, I'd rather have maggots grow on my leg than prepare for it beforehand. I dunno. I just want to be part of the conversation
>>303771 >Then, I realized: they don't want stories. They want brands. That's the average normalfag mindset, it's why ong running brands end up enduring even with all the faggotry- like Disney and Star Wars. That ties to the fear of the unknown(not knowing other brands) and lazyness(not wanting to do minor research or investment) and it's something that initially started with minor aspects of their lives, like the basic ads for toilet paper. While it sounds weird, most people here probably use adblocks of all kinds but the average guy and gal instead religiously watch the ads on their tv, their youtube videos, when their favourite youtube personality(another form of brand) shills this month's hotness, they watch it to be "in" for the social clout and that ends stunting society as a whole. There's a big reason why that english comedian told advertisers to kill themselves. They basically make the effort to replace "God" with <insert brand(s)> and make them a religious experience for the Joe and Jane.

>>303771 While there are definitely brand worshiping retards out there, I feel it is more that they want more stories of specific characters. They want to read Spiderman or what have you and that is also why so many abandoned the western comics industry. The leftists replaced the characters they liked with random people. They don't want to read another story about a person with spider powers fighting crime, they want to read a story featuring Peter Parker even if he doesn't do any crazy spider shit. Which also means all the kickstarted shit is missing the point unless they can lay hands on an abandoned existing character.
>>303776 Autists don't get irony, so you have some anons be completely serious near 100% of the time. It's quite tragic, actually
>>303780 Autists & black people have a lot in common. Unable to understand metaphor or sarcasm. Hyper fixations on meaningless brand products. Poor social skills. Poor personal hygiene.
>>303779 I believe that this notion can be constructed as false on one thing alone >If that was the case, people would reject the Garfield and Holland Spider-man stories and keep only the Raimi, TAS and the '81 series instead of loving Spectacular and Holland Same can be said with Superman or Batman to an extend as well and so on. The things that are associated with the "brand" isn't so much the character himself, behind the mask, it's more of an arbitrary selection of things like >Batman is rich >is suave >is an autistic super brooding detective >dresses like a bat therefore he's "Batman" even if he's Adam West, Bale, Keaton, the animated one or the comics one that gets cucked by Bane. That's not to say that's you're wrong about brand autists but that even the general public suffers from it, even if it isn't as severe. > Which also means all the kickstarted shit is missing the point unless they can lay hands on an abandoned existing character. It's not just that, it's that they want the facsimily of those characters under their political lenses instead of a new capeshit story, like Invinsible was, for better or for worse, or even Spawn and so on.
>>303768 >the stories were always jewish propaganda. Once people noticed that, they can never un-see it. Naw, because that would mean they couldn't enjoy the old ones. They can. There certainly was some political stuff in comics, but it's very overstated in most cases. Captain America and the similar characters who are now forgotten, sure, but Superman and Batman were not often actually involved in that stuff in their stories. They did do WWII stuff on their covers (which are a form of advertising for the comic. Doing stuff about the current war on the cover was meant to make people buy it), but in the actual stories, no. By the '70s there started being a little more political shit, but even Green Arrow, the poster boy for leftist soapboxing, was shown to be very flawed and hypocritical, and though you can tell where the author stands, it was nothing like today. By the '80s there were things like Dark Knight Returns, very much a criticism of leftism. And there's the Punisher, who Marvel keeps trying to ruin now because he is conceptually something that doesn't work with leftism. I was reading through all of Punisher's earliest stories recently, the ones from the '70s and '80s, before he got his own solo series. There was one notable instance where some SJW writer made Frank into a strawman who went around shooting kids for littering and stuff. It was bullshit. The very next time Frank appeared, though, the story was about how some crime boss had drugged him, which explained why he was acting so out of character, and he was now out for revenge on that guy. The point is, they tried to reel in the SJWs that did get into the system and only wanted to use the characters as a soapbox. >>303770 This is a huge fucking problem with trying to read monthly comics. If you're pirating it's a bit more manageable, but it's still ridiculous. It's cool when you do understand enough to get these huge scoped wide reaching stories, but it's ridiculous to expect readers to actually do that. It's no wonder their audience shrank to almost nothing even before the SJWs really ruined things. >>303753 The actual answer to what happened to magazine rack comics was that in the 1990s, there was a massive boom in comic sales, so Marvel decided to become not just a publisher, but a distributor. They'd be in charge of not just creating and printing, but actually getting them to the stands. However, the massive boom was fuelled by a speculator bubble after people heard that Action Comics #1 was worth a million dollars, so everyone started buying comics thinking they'd be worth a million dollars some day. A couple years later, everyone realized that was stupid and sales shrank to nothing. A lot of comics business, including tons of comic book stores, and Marvel Comics themselves, went bankrupt. Marvel realized they never should have tried to get into distributing, but they had already left their old distributors, and now that they needed a new distribution company, they went with the same one DC had, Diamond Comics Distributors. This meant Diamond had a monopoly over the industry, but when taken to court, the courts ruled it wasn't a monopoly because other magazines still had other distributors, because the courts were pretending comics were the same market as regular magazines. While they're technically magazines, we all know that's bullshit. The boom had already caused sales to shift toward comic book stores and a bit away from magazine racks, but Diamond had a deal with comic book stores that they would get different prices for their bulk orders and whatnot, but they couldn't return unsold copies, which newsstands (magazine racks) could do. This is why you see some books say that if they're sold without a cover, they're stolen. Unsold copies aren't literally shipped back to the distributor, instead just the covers are taken off and sent back, for less shipping fees. But comic book stores can't do that, as per the deal Diamond has with them. And if they don't want to take that deal, Diamond doesn't distribute them. And what's a comic book store gonna do? Not sell DC or Marvel? With the coronavirus fucking up the comic book (and comic book store) industry, both DC and Marvel finally took a bit of a chance and no longer exclusively distribute through Diamond, but they had already spent almost 25 years effectively never being sold in places that normal people go. 25 years of never being on newsstands, and only being sold in shops that people only go to if they're already fans. So getting places like Wal-Mart and your local grocery stores to stock them again is difficult. When they do, they frequently don't stock them in the prime spaces up near the register. So nobody sees them, then they don't sell. But it's even worse, because being sold only in nerd stores for fans means that the writing became catered to those fans. That's why they expected readers to understand 90 years of continuity and follow crossovers that run through dozens of different series per month, because they were selling only to established fans and not to casuals. They used to realize that "every comic is someone's first comic." They stopped giving a shit about that. So now (and frankly, even since the '90s), whenever someone does actually find a comic and try to read it, they end up baffled, and almost never become a long time returning customer, because they only got a tiny part of a story, and probably didn't even understand that one tiny part. Meanwhile, they also don't do digital distribution properly because they're afraid of offending the comic book stores, so they sell digital copies for the same prices as physical copies, and when they have subscription services, they only have selected back issues instead of every comic they have the rights to, which is what they should obviously do. So these things make no money, so they don't bother investing into actually giving them good readability or sorting systems or anything like that, and especially with how autistic things have been for decades, that's extremely necessary. Meanwhile, Archie never dealt with any of this and continued doing things the way they'd been doing them forever. Therefore, they sell so much more than Marvel, DC, and every other comic, that they aren't even considered to be competition. They're literally in their own league. You don't hear people talking about them as much because they aren't as autistic, but Archie sells gangbusters every month. And this is despite their own terrible management, which any fan of their Sonic the Hedgehog comic (which ran for 25 years, and only stopped being sold because Archie made Sega mad) will be acutely aware of. But just doing things the way they'd always been done has kept Archie way more successful than everyone else. Marvel and DC, and more specifically their distribution company, Diamond Comics Distributors, fucked everything up due to short sighted economic policies. >tl;dr: a single company took over distribution of nearly all western comics (except Archie) and didn't like that copies that went to magazine racks and weren't sold could be sent back, so they decided to sell only through comic book stores, which can't do that.

>>303783 Well that sucks.Archie comics could up the ante and star working on more comics to sell at grocery stores. I can't think if any other ideas because there's on trust fund kids out there that want to make their own distribution or publishing ocmpany of comics.
>>303779 This can't be understated. Spider-Man might get your attention because he's got cool powers and a neat costume, but the actual appeal of the series is the character. It's Peter and his personality and his relationships with his supporting cast. Spider-Man more than most comics is really a soap opera, but really, the soap opera bullshit is the true core of capeshit stories. They can call Miles Morales Spider-Man all they want. It doesn't matter. The fans don't actually care about Spider-Man, they care about Peter Parker. They didn't care about Green Lantern, either, so when DC tried to replace Hal Jordan with Kyle Rayner in the '90s, it didn't stick, and a decade later Hal Jordan was back, but by that point some people had grown attached to Rayner, so now he gets to stick around, but any fan will never say "Green Lantern." You'll never hear fans talking amongst themselves and using the superhero names. They'll always talk about Hal, or Kyle, or Alan, or Guy, or John. And SJWs will point to cases like Kyle, or more often Wally West, the third Flash, and say that if Wally can become The Flash, why can't their new SJW bullshit become the new whatever? Well, Wally was Barry's sidekick for 25 fucking years first, so his graduation to main hero was fucking earned. And even then, it was incredibly controversial, and the first ten years of Wally Flash stories were basically all about how awesome Barry was, and how Wally never felt like he really lived up to his role model. And even after all that, after Wally being Flash for 25 years, they brought Barry back anyway. And people were very mad, because Wally now had 50 years of history as a character, and people were attached to him. Then DC tried to reboot Wally as a black kid. But that's missing the point. Calling some new character Wally is not the same. Wally had 50 years of history, and this new guy didn't. After failed attempts to call fans racist, they brought back the original Wally and said the new black kid was just his cousin who was also named Wally. I heard later they tried to make the original Wally into a bad guy, but by that point I had stopped fucking reading, because the SJW bullshit had really metastasized. Also, there was the original Flash, Jay Garrick. His series was cancelled in like 1951 or something, so when they rebooted it a few years later, it seemed reasonable to make it a full reboot and just make a new character called The Flash, with similar powers. The old one was cancelled years ago, after all. They did put in a nice reference though saying that when the new Flash, Barry Allen, got speed powers, he was reminded of the old comic book he read as a kid, and named himself after the comic book character. But that wasn't enough. Even in the late '50s, adult autists were mad that this new guy with no history was replacing the character who they were actually attached to. They didn't care about The Flash, they cared about Jay Garrick. DC then catered to them by doing a story where Barry went to the comic book universe and met Jay. This was the first comic book multiverse story, and autism increased exponentially ever since. But the point is, nobody who actually likes these things likes the costumes and the powers, they like the characters. Rebooting them and replacing them isn't the same, and even in cases where characters were replaced, the successful ones did it by going on and on about how the new guy has big shoes to fill and never feels adequate. The only truly successful case was a guy who was a sidekick for 25 years finally getting promoted, and even that was controversial and didn't stick in the end. SJWs try to instead go on and on about how the old guy was a shitlord, and therefore the new girl is better. Predictably, this doesn't actually convince anybody. >>303782 People did reject the Garfield Spider-Man movies, and the Holland ones were so lame they had to bring MacGuire back too, even with the help of being part of the MCU and getting to cross over with all these other popular characters and adapt stories that require those crossovers. Also notice how no Superman has been truly accepted since Christopher Reeve. All that said, at least your examples are attempts at adapting the same character. The original character has elements that work and that's why the character was successful, so adapting those elements is at least closer to having one character than replacing the character with a new guy with different elements is. Tobey MacGuire playing Peter Parker and Tom Holland playing Peter Parker are more similar than Peter Parker and Miles Morales. But even then, it's really a new thing and you have to get the audience on board again, but at least you're building from the same successful elements as before, theoretically.

>>303786 >the Garfield Spider-Man Maybe they wouldn't have rejected them if Hollywood had simply gone full "complete bullshit" for at least the sake of novelty.
>>303785 Archie is infamously mismanaged. She might not be the owner anymore, but basically some woman inherited it from her dead husband and would do crazy shit like walk around the office pointing at men's junk and yelling "PENIS!" She would grab dudes by the balls and say that she wouldn't get in trouble because men aren't a protected class. And she was right. In something some people on /v/ might be aware of, there is the case of their Sonic the Hedgehog comic. Extremely successful, it's clearly in spite of Archie and not because of them (well except for the fact that they actually had good distribution). For the first year and a half, it was a normal video game tie in comic. Mostly gag comedy. Then they hired a guy named Ken Penders. Penders was mostly an inker, but Archie started letting him write. The thing is, Penders gave even less of a shit about Sonic than everyone else. What he wanted to do was publish his own original ideas that had already been rejected by every other publisher. Luckily, Archie was terribly managed. Penders should have been watched by his editor, but he wasn't. The editor should have been watched by the editor in chief, but he wasn't. The editor in chief should have been watched by the publisher, and the publisher should have been watched by the owner, but none of those things happened. Now, Penders also wasn't the only writer, he only wrote some issues, but famously he just didn't give a shit and didn't read issues written by other writers, resulting in a mess of continuity, as other writers tried to fix mistakes he would create all the time. But he made plenty of mistakes all on his own. Less than a year into his run on the comic, he decided he was sick of Robotnik, so he killed him off. Presumably someone finally noticed something this big and told Ken that this is a fucking video game advertisement comic, and he can't kill off the main bad guy, one of only three characters who is actually from the video game this comic was meant to advertise. Penders quickly brought Robotnik back to life in a short backup story (a couple extra pages at the back of an issue) where a previous villain, Robo-Robotnik, brought Robotnik back to life. Robo-Robotnik is Robotnik from another universe where he turned himself into a robot in order to make himself powerful enough to defeat Sonic. And he did. The problem is that when Penders used Robo-Robotnik for this second time, to bring Robotnik back to life, he gave him a significantly different backstory (though the parts I mentioned did remain the same). This Robo-Robotnik discrepancy is important because about two years later, Penders actually did kill Robotnik. By now it was like 1996 and Sega was in the middle of destroying their own company, so they didn't notice or give a shit. So the comic went on for a couple years and Robotnik was just not in it. But then Sega actually wanted to make a comeback. Sonic Adventure was coming out, so they demanded Archie bring Robotnik back to life so they could adapt Sonic Adventure. So how Penders did this was he said Robo-Robotnik got bored in his universe where he had killed Sonic, and he learned that Sonic in the main universe had killed Robotnik, so Robo-Robotnik came to the main universe so he would have a more powerful Sonic than his own to fight. He also put himself in a new robot body that looked more like the game design, and then aliens who could turn robots organic (and thus reverse the "roboticization" that was Robotnik's trademark early on) turned Robo-Robotnik organic. This also caused him to go crazy and act more cartoony than the dark version that had developed under Penders (even though the first two years of the comic or so were incredibly cartoony), so he started calling himself Eggman. Therefore, in the Archie comics Eggman and Robotnik were literally two different guys. This is important, because it means that Robo-Robotnik is actually the main villain of the whole series. This meant fans kept asking about why he had two different backstories. Later writers eventually had to say that technically there are two Robo-Robotniks, each from different alternate universes, and Robo-Robotnik 2 is the one who became Eggman. Robo-Robotnik 1 just never appeared again. The Sonic Adventure adaptation sucked and was nothing like the games, by the way. Also, instead of Amy just getting a makeover, she magically aged up a bit due to her desire to be sexier for Sonic. Now this sounds pretty weird, but it was actually ripped off from a Green Lantern Corps storyline from the late '80s where a character called Arisia, who was an orange alien girl who had a crush on Hal Jordan, subconsciously used her ring to age herself up to have an adult body so Hal would want to fuck her. And he did. And the rest of the Green Lanterns called him a child molester, but eventually they convinced them that it was okay and Arisia quit being a Green Lantern so she could go live on Earth with Hal. She then became a supermodel on Earth. Then Hal dumped her, and a while after that, Hal became evil and killed most Green Lanterns (and depowered the others), but it's okay because ten years later they revealed he was possessed but now he got better and he brought back the Green Lanterns. Well not the ones he killed, but they got new Green Lanterns to replace them. But when Hal was evil, he was replaced by a new guy, Kyle Rayner, who was now the only Green Lantern in the universe. The first thing that happened to him was that Captain Atom's nemesis, Major Force, killed Kyle's girlfriend, Alexandra DeWitt, and stuffed her in Kyle's fridge. Later, Major Force killed Arisa, a literal child who only came to Earth so Hal could fuck her more often, who he then dumped and left on a planet she wasn't from. Force stuffed Arisia in an oven. Stuffing dead love interests in kitchen appliances sort of became his thing. Anyway, I know only the part about Arisia being so horny that she aged herself up was relevant to Amy and Sonic, but I just thought that was interesting. So Penders was not at all interested in writing Sonic. He basically took his original ideas and just made the characters into Sonic OCs so he could get Archie to publish them. This is why in the Archie Comics, Knuckles isn't the last of his kind, but instead has an incredibly extensive family tree, because those are all just characters in a story Penders couldn't get published, so he just said they were related to Knuckles so Archie would publish it.
But the straw that broke the camel's back was a character called Geoffrey St. John, a skunk Freedom Fighter who was Sonic's rival for Princess Sally's love. Of course, Antoine was already Sonic's rival for Sally's love, and he was actually in the cartoon, but Penders wanted to publish his OCs. That is until some guy at Sega actually took a look at the comic and saw that the cover of one issue, #155, had Sonic crying on the cover, holding an invitation to Sally and Geoffrey's wedding. Nobody at Sega was reading this shit, but this cover was obviously so far away from what they thought they'd get when they hired Archie to make a comic advertising their video games, so they had Penders fired. Keep in mind, this came out in November 2005, right when Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Rush were coming out. But instead Penders was doing a story where Sonic the Hedgehog gets cucked by his OC. By issue 160, Archie hired a new guy, Ian Flynn, who they found from his fancomic on the internet. Flynn still writes the official Sonic comics to this day, and Sega even got him to write the latest game, Sonic Frontiers. Also, Penders later went on Twitter and confirmed for everybody that Geoffrey took Sally's virginity, and Sonic did officially get cucked. After Penders was fired, they did a DC Comics style semi-reboot sci-fi thing where reality got partially rewritten. Eggman did a thing called The Genesis Wave, but the only thing that was really changed was that that stupid Robo-Robotnik shit never happened, and Eggman and Robotnik are the same guy, and he never died. Or at least if he did he just came back to life and wasn't replaced by a different guy. Not that they ever talked about it in much detail ever again. But Penders wasn't happy about being fired (even though he claims he quit). He took Archie to court for the rights to all the characters he "created" for the comic, and it turned out Archie had lost the original copy of his contract, and most of the original copies for contracts of other creators. They also just had terrible lawyers, because obviously all of Penders "creations" were highly derivative of Sega properties, most of them just being "Knuckles with glasses" and things like that. But Archie management is so incompetent that they actually lost the case. Now, if Sega got involved, they'd probably own all of it, but they don't give a fuck about these shitty characters. Not worth their time. But that's how goddamn incompetent Archie is. This all forced Archie to have Eggman (teaming up with Dr. Wily) do a "Super Genesis Wave" that changed much more of history, namely erasing every character that was created by Penders or any of their other previous writers. Now only characters from the games, comics, or current writer, Ian Flynn, were usable. This fucked things up majorly with all the ongoing storylines, especially since Flynn had actually fixed a lot of terrible Penders characters and made them cool, most notably, Scourge the Hedgehog. Scourge was originally just called "Evil Sonic." Penders' very first Sonic story was one where Sonic went to the backwards universe where the good guys are bad and the bad guys are good, and he fights the Evil Freedom Fighters. Yes, this is a ripoff of The Crime Syndicate from DC Comics, very specifically the story "Crisis on Earth-Three," from over 30 years earlier. Evil Sonic and the rest of the Evil Freedom Fighters sucked. Total one note characters. Also, for some reason that first story by Penders is nothing but them making references to The Beatles. Because that's what kids in 1995 liked, references to a band that broke up 25 years prior. But Flynn made Scourge a fan favorite when the very first thing he did was have Evil Sonic realize that he sucked, that he was literally just a shitty knockoff of Sonic and literally not even his own person, so he sets out to make himself his own man, only to be too small minded and still define himself as being the opposite of Sonic, but now at least deliberately (because he is still a villain and thus flawed). So he calls himself Scourge and goes on to be a character with a lot more pathos. So all this bullshit caused Sega to revoke Archie's license for Sonic comics, despite the comics still being extremely successful in terms of sales. The longest running licensed comic ever. Sega then gave the license to the also terribly mismanaged IDW Comics, who immediately hired all the people who were working on the Archie Sonic comic when it got cancelled, so the IDW comic is in many ways a continuation, but now they are on a much tighter leash. They aren't allowed to use the Freedom Fighters or other characters from those two shows from 1993 anymore, so the continuity is finally actually one that matches the games. But Flynn and the other people keep creating new OCs to replace the old ones, which I don't like. But notably, Scourge was so in demand that Flynn created a new character called Surge, which is blatantly just a version of Scourge they're allowed to use. It's Scourge but a girl. They're both just "Green Evil Sonic" though. But instead of being an alternate universe doppelganger, Surge is an imperfect clone of Sonic (or rather, a mad scientist OC who is clearly a replacement for Snivley Robotnik, who they aren't allowed to use anymore, did experiments on some rando and brainwashed her to make her into an evil copy of Sonic). Surge is the best new OC, only because Scourge was actually cool, but the problem is that without the decades of history, without actually being a shitty Penders OC in terrible stories for years, you don't get the pathos that comes with the character realizing that he sucks in real life. So Archie comics is terribly incompetent, but least they are smart enough to distribute their comics on magazine racks at grocery stores. So they're a zillion times more successful than every other comic company.

>>303788 >>303789 It's not often that I'm happy to say that there's some aspect of nerdery that I never got into, but I think comics really have to be the biggest one. I'm not crapping on comic fans - everybody gets to like what they like. But me, personally? I feel like I dodged a bullet by not having to care about all that shit. As a medium, if I wasn't a shitty Hitler-tier artist I've had some some ideas that might make a cool comic book series. But I don't have the autism needed to follow the industry in any meaningful way except wanting to fuck that indie comic protag Kamen America.
>>303773 >but the average guy and gal instead religiously watch the ads on their tv Anon, if that was a fraction true, then cable TV wouldn't have become popular, forget even Netflix. The ONLY time people actually "want" to watch general commercials and ads is during the Superbowl (But even that interest died off a decade ago).
>>303794 Sonic is one of the easier comics to follow. It's just very long. But you could read the current series by IDW comics. That only has like 60 issues. Maybe 80 if you count spinoff miniseries. Easy to follow and actually pretty good. You could also start reading the Archie comics at issue 252 (or the Mega Man crossover, "Worlds Collide," which immediately preceded it). That's when they rebooted it to get rid of all the Penders shit, so really what's canon is the two TV shows from 1993, as well as the games. If you liked those shows as a kid, like the games, and want a real continuation, Archie Sonic starting at 252 is pretty much that. 160-252 (or whenever the Mega Man crossover started) is basically Flynn trying to fix Penders' bullshit. It's a noble effort, but not good enough that I'd actually recommend it to anyone except hardcore fans, even though sometimes cool stuff like Scourge did pop up. The first 14 issues or whatever until Penders started are fine comics for kids, but nothing to get autistic over. Some people say up to issue 50 (the one where Robotnik dies) are good, but I don't think I'd recommend them. Pretty much everyone agrees that 50-159 (and all the spinoff series that came out, like Knuckles) suck major balls, and if you were to read them, it's to just watch how batshit insane it gets. But if you're only gonna read one Sonic comic, I highly recommend the Mega Man crossover, Worlds Collide. They did a temporary reboot to get rid of all the weird OCs and other stuff that would keep regular audiences from understanding what the fuck is going on. It's just every Sonic character ever (from the games) meeting every Mega Man character ever (well, at least from the classic series, not X or Zero or whatever), and it's great. They did another crossover between more Sega and Capcom stuff later, Worlds Unite, but nobody likes that one. But Worlds Collide is an awesome 12 issue story.

>>303701 It's not that /co/ doesn't care about comics, though that is probably also true. It's that anyone who does care about comics learned to stop giving a shit what Marvel and DC do anymore. Nobody reads that shit. Since 2015, Marvel has done nothing but publish SJW propaganda about how all the characters people love are shitlords. This is nothing new. It's outrage-bait. The point is to make you mad, not to actually sell comics. The Marvel Universe literally died in 2015, in a story called Secret Wars (but not the good Secret Wars from the '80s), and when it came back, it was this SJW shit. That's the jumping off point. For DC it's a couple years later, but either way, fuck it. Enjoy the good old stuff. The new stuff is shit. We all know. No point giving it attention. If The Punisher gets cucked in the woods, and no-one is around to read it, did it make a difference? >>303799 A rising tide raises all ships. The more they get a better, truer indie scene going, the easier it will be for others to come in and do whatever they want, including more things like what you want. Of course, nobody would tell you to buy a comic you aren't actually interested in, but I'd still support them at least morally, as what they're doing still helps to get rid of the establishment and make things easier for indies that come after them.

>>303800 >, but I'd still support them at least morally, as what they're doing still helps to get rid of the establishment and make things easier for indies that come after them. I might be very anti sjw but I'm not supporting stagnation. Most of Comicsgate is too busy making more superhero stuff and if this was an era before manga and other east asian comics blew up they might've had a chance. But people have seen an industry of non super hero comics and found they liked it and seeing their native industry still making super hero comics even if they aren't spiteful sjw propaganda isn't gonna cut it.
>>303810 I don't think it's supporting stagnation. It's a very significant change that makes it easier for everyone to publish whatever they want. Also, there are non-capeshit comicsgate comics. They might not be ones you're personally interested in, but they do exist.
(44.53 KB 552x445 that's why.jpg)

>>303811 >I don't think it's supporting stagnation. It's a very significant change that makes it easier for everyone to publish whatever they want Does it matter if all it is just more superhero comics? I'm mean yes it's very good and I'm happy the sjws/corpos got cuked out of their control on publishing. But if all you do is more superhero comics in an industry that is near 80 years oversaturated in this new era what are you doing? People are just going to go read manga and ignore Comics as it's just more of the same just with a non sjw coat of paint. > there are non-capeshit comicsgate comics. That said, there are ones that do their own thing. I've mentioned it before, but the guy who basically started Comicsgate is a former marine, so he does a lot of military stuff, stuff that's more like GI Joe. Also he got the license to The Expendables and Rambo, and I don't think anyone would say those are superhero movies, even if they are action movies. Also, one of the most notable comicsgate guys is Doug Tennapel, the creator of Earthworm Jim. He has put out both Earthworm Jim comics and other similar ones, like Bigfoot Bill. I don't know if you'd consider Earthworm Jim to be a superhero, but most wouldn't put it entirely in the same vein as Marvel or DC.

It made me realize that even long time fans are still just a bunch of brain dead brand worshipers. they don't want actual good stories. They just want to see the old characters that they already know appearing in those stories. And that is why even thought they donated to those independent comics, they still can't enjoy those stories. The stories don't have some brand-owned character, so they just get "disappointed" by it, making all excuses when, in fact, they are bothered by the fact that there is no famous brand attached to it.
>>303874 >3rd vid What the fuck did he do to that kid?
>>303779 That is also true. But I've noticed that most really don't care about the stories. So, even if they "care" about the character, it still is caring about a brand, since they don't bother with anything else unless (insert character name) is present in the story. A comic book is as much about it's plot and concepts as it is about it's characters. But those brand worshipers care only if the character they are familiar with is present there. If not, they reject it, even if they lie to themselves and to everyone else by saying that they were just "disappointed". In the end, it is just more brand worshiping. They care only about a recognizable character as a brand. Not as a character, for they don't care what story is being told or what concepts are being presented.

>>303888 You mean the chinese government has operatives in other countries to disappear any dissenters. There was a big one found disguised as a social services center or something. Also almost every poor country has people sending money and goods to to their relatives back home, it actually contributed to protests and a coup in myanmar when the government increased the subsidized exchange rate. It went from $1 getting you 250 shitbux but internally 150 shitbux buying a dollars worth of goods, to everyone's relatives saying the official exchanges are a scam and using black market exchanges, leading to the government running out of usd for food imports when it hit around $1:400, due to not being able to skim the gap. The main cause was making synthetic fertilizer illegal while having no organic fertilizer process to replace it. >>303894 Those guys were fags to my ancestors, so it's fitting :^)

China isn't really united, but they are programmed and controlled to behave as if they are. I wouldn't be surprised if China will be thrown into another warlord era if CCP falls, though I would definitely prefer the Taiwanese government to replace CCP and fix the whole country instead.

>>303877 So what you're saying is, the big 2 comics can get a market if they just simply make simple one off stories of super heroes beating up bad guys and puttign them in jail. No subversive stories, no reconstructions or deconstructions alike All-Star Superman. Just make a super cliche "OHN NO, THA BANKS BEEN ROBBED, SOMEONE CALL HERO MAN" and people will happily consume this safe media. I'm all for it.
Literally all Marvel and DC need to do is reject pretentious long storylines with talking heads, angsty self pity and gay allegories to being greek gods or whatever and just make things in the same spirit as the Max Fleisher Super Man cartoons. That's all they need to do and they can make money again from kids and people who just want escapism https://youtu.be/LUFN1IjK4ww
>>303904 Or stop with the multiverse bullshit and infinite reskins of characters due to lack of creativity and relying on familiar characters.
I would still stand behind if it wasn't for Indians being isolationist by nature or too mostly stupid for conquest. Hindus would be more hated than Muslims. Indian immigrants are behind a lot of modern censorship in American big tech and the UK local governments. Imagine if Hindu nationalists went full Muslim with jihad against the rest of the world. Personally, I would not be shocked if CIA niggers tried to turn Hindus into the next Islamic terrorism like they are trying with Mexican white supremacy.
>>303905 yeah, pretty much. No one really cares about Earth ZZ-Plural-Alpha Or new super heroes except reddit nerds who want to seem smart. People just want a comic book to sit down and read. >>303909 >Once you experience them, the average pajeet will be a pleasing sight to you. Because imagine being Hindu AND Muslim on top of that. Pakistanis are considered the worst of the Arab race and the worst of the Islamic world culturally. Pakistanis are more savage and more degenerate. Indians are more disgusting and stupid people. Pakistan probably has the highest rape rate in the Muslim world. While India has a bigger rape rate than most of Africa. It is hard to pick who to hate more when it comes to India and Pakistan.
>>303916 Why would they believe that they would rule in hell? Do they just take words literally if they think it sound cool?
>>303855 All protections end up being abused, so it is better to have no protection, yes. I don't care who gets his work stolen. I care that people who make a better work out of someone else's creation are left free to keep doing their good work. Creative works of art should never be a business in the first place. Do it for liking it. Not for profit nor for propaganda.
>>303862 Yes. You sacrifice yourself, and society benefits from your sacrifice. and why would you do this? Because you like what you are creating. And if you don't like it? Then you have no right to be working on it in the first place. Separate a job from a creative work of art. Creative works of art should NEVER be jobs and NEVER be made for profit. Get a job doing something else. create art as unprofitable activity, just for the sake of creating art, and for liking it. If YOU can't, others can. As this anon said >>303861 copyright needs to die, as it ALWAYS end in monopolies.
>>303905 >stop with the multiverse bullshit and infinite reskins of characters due to lack of creativity and relying on familiar characters You have the male feminist Michael Moorcock to thank for the modern day multiverse bullshit you see in DC and marvel. He truly is an asshole. He not only has a long history of failed lawsuits when something surpasses his gay dark fantasy series in popularity. He tried and failed to sue the witcher creator for plagiarism because his gay elf has white hair and so is Geralt from the Witcher. Micheal Moorcock was pro-cancel culture long before the Internet existed. He tried to get the book series Gor banned in the UK and publishers to drop Gor because it was his duty as a male feminist despite Gor being more popular with women than men. In fact, there is a bondage subculture among women that are fans of the Gor books. More people here probably know Micheal Moorcock from Razorfag shilling him and spreading Witcher is plagiarism narrative rather than his books.
>>303903 No. I am saying that those fans want something impossible: they want to enjoy things the same way they did when they were ignorant about the industry. They are both bored by the old concept of capeshit (the one you pointed: "one off stories of super heroes beating up bad guys and putting them in jail") but at the same time, they reject the new style full of propaganda. AND they now realized that even the old style also had propaganda, even if subtle. What they want is to literally go back in time and erase their knowledge of how capeshit was always shit. They lie to themselves all the time, making excuses for why they can't "appreciate" stories anymore. the fact, at least from what I understand, is that they learned the truth behind capeshit comics, it's industry, and it's true form, which is that of propaganda outlets for jews, and now those people are angry at knowing this and angry at the fact that they can never enjoy any of those stories, old or new, anymore, now that they know what those stories really are.
>>303904 >reject angsty self pity and gay allegories That is impossible, as the very freaks that create the comics are exactly that, and being that, they are incapable of creating anything that are not self inserts. >Literally all Marvel and DC need Those companies aren't doing things to pander to you or me, or anyone with common sense. Do you still think they are creating for the sake of selling a product? >That's all they need to do and they can make money again from kids and people who just want escapism They aren't in for the money. They will literally chose to go bankrupt instead of stopping their propaganda outlets. Comic book companies are propaganda outlets. They don't care if they lose money. They don't care if everyone there becomes homeless overnight. They only care about spreading their failed propaganda.
>>303917 >Pakistanis are considered the worst of the Arab race They aren't arab though, they are from the hindu race, same race as the Indians they aren't semetic. Agreed with the rest. >>303921 >You have the male feminist Michael Moorcock to thank for the modern day multiverse bullshit you see in DC and marvel. Excuse me wut?
>>303913 That is where you are wrong. Kids love that. Kids practically only care about power levels and nothing else. Capeshit does not have power levels as their main focus anymore. The focus is on leftard propaganda, and THAT is what made kids move away from capeshit and into manga. The problem is: power levels get boring fast as you grow older. So companies are stuck between needing to pander to kids, so they can have a constant influx of new customers, and needing to pander to teenagers and adults, so they can keep having long term customers, but those all get bored of the garbage that kids like. >>303914 A good thing is that the funkopop company is going (or already went) bankrupt.
>>303918 >Do they just take words literally if they think it sound cool? Yes. Also, they believe that, by destroying everything, they could have a chance to be rulers once they, or someone else, starts rebuilding society. It is literally, make everything worse, so the inferiors can have a chance in competing against the superiors. They fail to realize that the superiors will always be superiors and thus, will always rule. It is like making a game's controls and commands easier for newcomers, hoping that they would be on equal competing skill as veterans, but then veterans simply adapt quicker to the new controls and commands, and still win over all the newcomers because them being veterans made their skills and reaction time in that game permanently superior to any of the newcomer's.

You want to see a good example of a "monopoly" getting rekt and devalued by authors allowed to build on an established property, fuck. Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, Willow, Capeshit, and on and on and on. Someone with a personal stake in the property, as opposed to getting a golden parachute if they blow it up, might be a bit less fucking cavalier about who and what they let into the playground.
>>303963 Oh ok, i was really confused there, since black library books have helped flesh out 40k and fantasy alot through the years, hell, we got xenobiology thanks to that and now we know that eldar ears are erogenous spots.
>>303960 >Your works belong to the WORLD, comrade. That's what the concept of copyright and patents already claim, anon. It says that your ideas already belong to the people and is kept and administered by the sovereign (be it a king or be it a federal government) but so as to incentivize people to innovate and create the sovereign grants a limited time title of exclusivity. It DOES NOT create and establish the concept of "intellectual property". A right to a different sort of intellectual property does exist, in that one has a right to what's in one's mind (right to bodily integrity) or one's private papers (right to property) but that's completely different to the modern, and very corporate driven, concept of IP.
>>303963 > Lord of the Rings Ignoring that Tolkien's grandchildren are the ones devaluing and whoring it out is what's causing the problem to begin with. A monopoly isn't capable of protecting the integrity of a thing, UNLESS it's held by someone with a personal stake in the thing (like Tolkien and his son, or to a lesser extent someone like George Lucas). Monopolies on a property held by a public corporation will always be about extracting maximal money from it in till it's sucked dry and picked clean and then discarded.
>>303966 Don't consume every new LotR product that they serve you then, if a series goes to shit that you really like then just read fanfics or something, don't get parasocially attached to a product.

>>303855 Anon, someone wanting less or no government intervention is not leftist. You're the one saying you want the government to step in and have more power. That's leftist. You have the right to your own creations. If you print a book, people shouldn't be allowed to steal your book, because then you won't have the book you printed anymore. But if they copy the book, you still have yours. You lost nothing. Nobody said "you should have no right to any idea you make." You do. Someone else building off of your idea doesn't stop you from building off of your idea. Well, unless you're in the current system where whoever has the most money to blow in court owns it. But if the government didn't step in, nobody could stop you from creating whatever you want, including with your own ideas. Copying is and never will be stealing. Someone else publishing an idea doesn't and never will stop you from publishing an idea. Unless the government steps in and threatens you with force. That's what you're advocating for. >denying yourself and others the ability to make money off an idea you make is capitalism? Who said anything about that? Someone else also being able to publish an idea doesn't stop you from doing the same. Just compete, faggot. If you have the better product, you can make more money.
>>303968 No, there is always more men than women, men just usually die at a faster rate than women so thats why you end up with many old women but not that many old men.
>>303967 Those fanfics are technically illegal, and the fact that they're illegal is why you don't see more, including more adaptations in other media. If everything was legal, you'd still have the option to ignore what you don't like and enjoy what you do like. Now things you may like aren't allowed to be created, because of the absurd claim that someone can "own" an idea and therefore stop others from publishing ideas considered too similar. All it does is stifle competition so that bad products can win. If competition was allowed, the good ones could compete fairly. Those may be the "official" ones or not. Doesn't matter. They shouldn't be able to stop others from creating.

>>303969 Well if you spend a year writing a book, and the actual printing and distribution cost is an arbitrary 40% per book, Random House or Penguin can just have a guy buy your book and reprint it at least 60% cheaper than you with their existing supply network. >>303971 Fanfics can fall under fair use, otherwise just discussing a movie's plot would be illegal, along with any sort of analysis videos or breakdowns. You just can't sell it, it has to be transformative, it can't redistribute substantial parts of the original work, nor claim the work belongs to you. Websites just fold because they don't want to defend some nerds.
>>303974 Well we already knew that they've been inside each other due to that science ray merging accident so.
>>303973 Wait, are you saying you think Dracula is a good example in favor of copyright laws? Because practically every Dracula adaptation you like, except for the ones by Universal, is unlicensed. Nosferatu was almost lost forever because it was (correctly) ruled copyright infringement. Castlevania obviously isn't licensed. Dracula is only 30 years older than Mickey Mouse, but if the same laws applied to Dracula, you'd never have Castlevania. You'd have a few movies by Universal, of which maybe two are good, and that's it. But of course the lack of copyright being applied to Dracula (at least relative to Mickey) stops nobody from enjoying the original novel or the licensed versions. >>303975 Authors make most of their money from their contracts to write, not for copies sold. Copies sold make money for the publisher, AKA some guys who didn't write it but are printing it, and use these laws to stop others from printing it. Fanfics are not fair use. A parody is different from a fanfic. Fanfics aren't talking about the original, they are building off of or adapting it. That's not at all the same as analysis and commentary, which you're trying to compare it to. "Transformative" is entirely subjective, and never applies to fanfics anyway. It applies to parodies and satire, which are different. Sonichu would not get actual protection, despite being very transformative.

>>304000 just a theory but maybe because it doesnt require any sort of physical activity. think about it, what did the kids that were good at sports or other forms of physical activity did during their development years? they made friends, became popular, and attracted female attention. what did the autistic men do? they were ostracized and pushed into solitude, where they found the internet. the rest is history.

>>304000 >Why does software bring in the worst types of people? I guess it takes your brain to be wired a special way to get good at computers, but the downside is that it also makes you susceptible to slipping into degeneracy. The kind of person who will spend dozens of hours reverse-engineering drivers is going to be highly autistic. Just look at Richard Stallman, the entire Free Software movement his him having a giant spergout about not being able to get his printer working. God bless he autism for what he has given to the world, but autism is like a superpower that must be directed towards good, or else it leads to degeneracy.

The act of wanting the government to imprison or kill someone because they built the same house that you built is by definition statist, yes. >>304000 Entryist niggerfaggots who would infest HR positions in a company, push for COC's and similar shit in open sauce projects in order to create incentives to cherry pick troons, furries and other degenerates from the autism bucket to add to a contributor list. And this shit works really well since the non-degenerate autist contributors to a project, usually take the attitude of "don't want to get involved in politics just want to code" (or even if they do in recent times poor OPSEC as well and risk getting doxxed) to tell the infestation to fuck off at the early stages.

>>304056 That actually looks surprisingly ok for a current year capeshit cartoon. >Jimmy Olsen is a Nigger That's a shame. I don't really care about a nigger sidekick, but it should have been an original character instead of a race swap. Besides, who the fuck ever heard of a nigger named "Jimmy Olsen". That name is white bread as fuck. I'm not suggesting he should be called Tyreek Dashani or some weird made up ghetto name - just give him a normal black name, fuck.
>>304077 >just give him a normal black name How about Uncle Tom?
Here's a neat little snippet from Jewpedia about copyright. >Conception >The concept of copyright first developed in England. In reaction to the printing of "scandalous books and pamphlets", the English Parliament passed the Licensing of the Press Act 1662,[16] which required all intended publications to be registered with the government-approved Stationers' Company, giving the Stationers the right to regulate what material could be printed.[20] So copyright as a legal concept at it's heart is the same as the $200 tax stamp for guns And right below it. >The Statute of Anne, enacted in 1710 in England and Scotland provided the first legislation to protect copyrights (but not authors' rights). The Copyright Act of 1814 extended more rights for authors but did not protect British from reprinting in the US. The Berne International Copyright Convention of 1886 finally provided protection for authors among the countries who signed the agreement, although the US did not join the Berne Convention until 1989.[21] This is why people who don't like copyright don't like it. It was a racket from day one. >>304074 As far as I'm concerned any discussion of copyright and patents is moot as long as corporations are allowed to own them. Get rid of corporate personhood and corporate wellfare then we can talk about the length and breadth of the "intellectual property" concept.
>>304078 Damnit anon that was the first thing I thought of. I was going to say Tom Brown to make it more subtle but, yeah.

Got em.
>>304079 >This is why people who don't like copyright don't like it. It was a racket from day one. No, I don't like it because of how it has been implemented into the US legal system. I don't care about how it was conceived 300 years ago. There are hypothetical implementations of intellectual property that could be permissible. But the only kind of IP that is permissible is the kind that is ultimately toothless, which the people in favor of intellectual property don't want. Ultimately it comes down to if you think unfettered creative works would be more profitable for you as an individual regardless of a corporations ability to take that work and distribute it themselves. I'd be willing to bet without any legal hurdles that a lot of modders could stand to profit significantly from fixing other peoples software. But then artists probably wouldn't profit very much and would just have their work used as assets or churned out on Amazon t-shirts. I'd be willing to bet with almost complete certainty abolishing copyright would result in a net positive for the amount of quality content available to the consumer. But people don't usually assess things based on how they would collectively impact society. It feels intuitively wrong for third parties to profit off of your work in an economy of ideas and attention. And people won't tolerate it regardless of whether or not they might technically be able to profit even more in that environment if they were savvy enough.

Overwatch 2's cop cars removed from Midtown map for Pride Month >Overwatch 2’s Pride Month 2023 event has officially kicked off, and with it came a number of new icons, name cards, and even a short story about heroes Baptiste and Pharah’s queer identities. >They also completely rethemed the city-based map Midtown so that it takes place during a Pride parade. One detail about this rethemed map that’s catching players’ eyes (besides the numerous rainbow colored decorations) is the fact that the cop cars which used to be scattered around the city have been given some new paint jobs. >The vehicles are now painted with subtler green and blue hues, and any association with the police has been completely removed. The presence of police at Pride events has been a controversial subject for attendees and organizers in the past. >Whether or not this was a deliberate decision on Blizzard’s part or simply an aesthetic choice, we can’t say, as they have yet to comment on the matter officially. https://archive.ph/b9qOr

New Diablo 4 images point to pricey-looking horse armor as microtransactions >Diablo 4 players aren't loving the pricing on armor and skins in the in-game cosmetics shop. This week saw a host of new Diablo 4 info hit the internet airwaves, and among that was a look at the RPG's in-game cosmetics shop. >As you can see from the screenshot below, we've now got an early look at how some of the in-game character skins will be priced, as well as the price points for things like Diablo 4 horse armorYes, horse armor is back, only this time it comes with the horse, or in this case, the undead mount. >Now that Diablo 4 fans have perused this info, many are unimpressed with the price of skins. We could well be looking at $28 for a single armor set, assuming Diablo 4 uses the industry-standard '100 to $1' premium currency conversion, as other Blizzard games (approximately) do. This is seemingly the upper echelons of what we might be paying for a single skin, but it's still a pretty eye-watering rate to consider for one cosmetic in a full-price game. >"I'm not against paid cosmetics, but these are very expensive," responds one Reddit user. "This game is gonna need to cure my anxiety before I fork over prescription drug level money for a paper doll upgrade," responds one perplexed fan, with another adding, "I'd actually but some if they were like 5$ a pop. >Not these Valorant-ass prices." Elsewhere, some fans think these prices might not be quite that bad compared to other games. >Diablo 4's cosmetic prices might even be "relatively average" compared to a game like Path of Exile, arguably Diablo 4's biggest competitor, as the fan below posits on the Diablo-focused subreddit. >As a long time enjoyer of POE, these prices are nothing," adds another user in agreement. That being said, Path of Exile is quite notably a free game while Diablo 4 is, again, $70 at base. >There's now just a few days to go until Diablo 4 launches on June 6, and while some questions remain unanswered, we probably won't see major changes to the cosmetics previewed here. To find out what we made of Blizzard's latest venture, head over to our glowing Diablo 4 review. >If you plan on getting in early this week, you should familiarize yourself with the Diablo 4 error codes so you know what to expect at launch. https://archive.ph/tQ4FW

I find the plots, characters and overall lore in those all embarrassing. In the latter part, it's showing how there's already more than enough material already in the public domain (Famous material even), and people are doing diddly with it. In fact, almost the biggest irony of the matter is that people obsess over works that reached the height of their popularity when it was still under copyright, but don't give two shits about the works already in the public domain. But, without any sort of regulation, I have no "right" to "copies" of my work. Now, because writing said book requires I sustain myself and possibly my family for the weeks or months that the book takes to write, my overhead on production is considerable. With no regulation, a competitor can merely copy my book, and sell it, at a lower price-point than I can, because he does not have to sustain himself or his family for weeks, or months, to produce a copiable product. When you remove someone's ability to profit from their labors, and you expect that to result in an INCREASE IN PRODUCTION, that, there, is communistic thinking. Which does not, as the cover describes, work.

Everyone shall be free to create works based on "their" products. Ideas are never property. Ever. The IP laws benefit them, simply because THEY modify those laws at will. >>304145 Anon, you are familiar with the mindset of every Socialist thinker in history, right? Why promote or use public domain works over copyrighted/privately owned IPs? Which makes Big Media more money?
>>304153 Are you unfamiliar with the concept of "a patron of the arts"? How the fuck do you think all those great paintings and sculptures of the past that everyone loves got made? The artists weren't doing it as a hobby and they weren't making and selling them as a commodity. They were commissioned and paid by some royal or noble, or bay a church, or by The Church, or by some rich big wig that wanted a painting of a loli or a shota or whatever.
>>304150 A couple hundred years ago, a second printing of your book required all the labor the first printing did, but offered a small fraction of the potential sales, because most people who wanted it either had a copy or had already read a copy. As printings became cheaper, and books made less durable, printings past the first became more and more viable. More profit to be made longer, more reason to keep IP intact, for both publishers and creators.
>>304157 >I'm talking about making it legal to use those assets in your own work to profit from it. And, you're able to do that. >>303979 The question was already answered many times: copyright is cancer and it needs to die, because protecting one's "right to own an idea" is idiotic, as it prevents others from copying and improving that idea. Copying an idea and improving on that idea should always be allowed. If you want money for your idea, make sure to always create the best products out of it. If others make better products than you with "your" idea, that is too bad for you. Go do something else.
>>304159 How is that different from gaytreon?
>>304166 Just so we're clear, your position is that copyright protects absolutely no rights for the holder to prevent people from taking their work and selling it as is? So what exactly does copyright protect?

>>304169 >and selling it as is? Nice goalpost shifting. What happened to modification and reuse in other games?

>>304170 So, it doesn't work anymore?
>>304160 See the thing is for the vast majority of creators, unless they really make it big or can get a good deal, they never see anything but peanuts from those mass market sales profits. The publishers get all the dough. Worse if you create things while part of some corporation then you get NOTHING beside your weekly paycheck and worse you can be put in a position where the characters and concepts that you created or developed can be permanently taken from you. >>304165 >>304168 >What is the difference?
