It'll be legal and untraceable, although they're supposedly trying to make it illegal. You're supposed to get serial numbers but it could be a hoax like half the internet is already. Other than that, paintball markers are a better start. They already shoot large .43, .50, and .68 diameter rounds. There are "sure strike" slugs for some guns. I'm about to buy a paintball revolver and increase the co2 pressure by changing the barrel and the nozzle. It'll be a few hundred bucks. Other than that, USA guys can just buy guns private sale online. Other countries probably 3D printing is the best option. I don't think you can even buy the power mods for paintball guns in many countries.

Hey, depends on what your buddy wants. Does he want to make a homemade muzzleloader ? A homemade gun that takes some kind of cartridge (a repeating firearm ? a break action ?) ? To my knowledge, homemade smoothbore muzzleloading guns and 12 GA slamfire pipe shotguns can be very very easy to make, even in in under-industrialised third world shitholes. Just look at Pakistan or the Kashmire region in India for example (pic related).

Also, I think a retard proof build would be some kind of homemade short barreled black powder muzzle loader with a small bore but a VERY VERY thick STEEL tube (NEVER FUCKING USE IRON).
