Go play Bayo Origins, it's very cuactually cool if basic and uses the dual control from Astral Chain in fun ways. I really like the writing and graphics but it's marred by it being unfortunately being released right after Bayo 3.te.

If you can tolerate some jank I think there's legitimate good here that manages to step away from Bayo 1 more than 2 did with it's Demon Slave system and having an actually good final boss for once. Whatever gameplay spins it has it was overshadowed by the Bayoluka shitfit, Viola not landing and being misunderstood by everyone and gameplay switches becoming the climactic fight instead . Another problem for it's reception were comparisons to DMC5 that cornered the junkies that the Bayo series previously pandered to and it drew comparisons between them.Though really it's closer to DMC4 in story role and development. I liked the game as a whole quite a bit myself but it's not as easily digestible as Bayo 2 and doesn't reach the highs of Bayo 1 due to Kamiya no longer being in the driver's seat. There's a definite cheekiness that's missing from Bayo 1 & 2 and lacks the polish that should be there for a project that was developed for as long as it was.

Overall, the game is not complete garbage, but it has a lot of room for improvement. Fans were not impressed with the whole convoluted multiverse plot and what it did to the overarching Bayonetta series story. And while some fans might have been a bit harsh on the game, or misunderstood some of the characters/plot points, a game that does not feel quite like a Bayonetta game certainly wouldn't go over well with Bayonetta fans. And it didn't. People also wonder if this influenced Kamiya's departure from PlatinumGames almost exactly a year later.
