EDF Thread : No Epic Account needed edition Anonymous 10/25/2024 (Fri) 08:20:41 Id: 6dcbc8 No. 1031472
EDF 6 no longer requires epic gays store account to play multiplayer. We did it by passively sending ill will towards them. Im getting my ass kicked in later missions on hard and have switched to hardest to get some better weapons, only to get obliterated in early missions. Grinding is hard and Im tempted to get a mod to cheese through missions. Anon who's making edf mods, also has gdrive links in previous thread https://next.nexusmods.com/profile/xdiesp/mods Previous thread - >>895955

>>1067336 Thank you, anon
is there ant mod where I can play the last mission of DLC1? You know, before the missiles hit the city
Soon we will be able to play Summoner Versus. You will summon creatures and send them against those summoned by your mates. Or, if you prefer, just send them against a player which shoots them. I'm making all vanilla classes capable of summoning like this. The main issue with versus/deathmatch is the bad net code, which unfortunately gave bad results when I made the original deathmatch mode. But since you'd be shooting creatures and not other players, it should be fine. (If you ever watched 2 coop streamers side by side, you know they see entities in different places).
>>1069346 >EDF Pokemon mod This is the kind of autism we need more of in this world.
FINALLY, some fat stacks of loot. Thank God for silver-spider-dropping ships.

Here's the two upcoming classes, although they're really variants of the same class. The Air Ranger: uses a hybrid arsenal from Ranger and Air Raider, but most importantly has a few tricks: >Can summon AI vehicles Like tanks, EMC, naegling and a few nix. He can equip up to 2 in both the Backpack and Support slot. >Can buff players With many shouts (Orders) that improve armor. Equippable in all slots. >Can produce credits Using a gizmo (the Overdrive). Again equippable in all slots. >His backpack is drones >His only vehicles are are helicopters >Has a dedicated slot for armor So at least he won't be slow.
(30.38 KB 462x193 storm rider setup.JPG)

The second class is the Storm Rider, which is a variant of the former. His arsenal is a bit shifted around. As for his features: >Can summon AI mechs His specialty is a collection of around 60 nixes, proteuses and bargas. These are usually more effective than a dumb AI tank. He can equip only one, in the support slot. >Can produce credits He literally uses the same Overdrive gizmo. Notice that this applies to all players in the game and can be equipped in any slot, even multiple of them. Teammates could eat through the mission with airstrikes by spamming many of them. >Can use all vehicles except helicopters He can equip up to 2 in both the Backpack and Support slot. >His backpack is grenades and turrets And also armors, in case you want to run fast at the cost of using up a slot (both classes can run).
>>1070310 >>1070314 How did you balance out the AI anon?
>>1070329 AI vehicles have: - Default health - Limited ammo, same as the player's. Except for certain explosives which the AI would burn through in seconds. - Spawning a new AI vehicle shaves 20% off the maximum health of the previous: if your first mech had 100 health, after summoning the second it will have 80, after the third it will have 64, then 51 etc - Big summons like the Proteus, Barga, Titan and EMC are immune from this effect, as they would be penalized more. And as usual, stronger units cost more credits.
>>1070394 I'll be sure to cause some chaos anon, thanks
Writing the backstory of the classes is fun. >Air Ranger >Airborne strategic command ops. Their high synergy of military and civilian expertise, among the EDF armed forces, is a lasting legacy from the Civil Conflicts era. Deteriorating envinronmental conditions and the exacerbation of regional disputes had left the world in a state of diffused unrest. To counter the worsening humanitarian crisis, contingency teams had to become more decisive and flexible. Leadership and teamwork became skill requirements in the face of shifting global scenarios: military tasks, such as securing critical infrastructure could evolve at any time into civilian rescue operations like the delivery of relief goods, or the airlift of endangered personnel. >The Air Rangers's striking vocation to defend the people is perhaps the best example of the EDF's mission to protect all of humanity, regardless of the divisions within. This call for unity is indeed what propelled them to fame during the turbulent events of the Colonial Uprising. Over 400 mining outposts had been established in the Earth's high orbit, extracting resources from asteroids and pioneering space habitation; until the wealthiest of them, Colony 313, claimed independence and lead the rest to rebellion. >Clashes between the orbital drop troops and the EDF continued with intensity, until a stray shot severed the cables of the main colony's habitat module and threatened to plunge all of the colonists to their deaths. As the world watched, the Air Rangers unilaterally ceased hostilities and rushed to lead the rescue effort, coordinating the best of both armies and finally managing to reach the falling module in the nick of time. Building a bond of honor between the opposing combatants. >That unauthorized truce would eventually turn into the peace talks that ended the war. Upon his arrest, one unnamed commander is often quoted saying: 'there was never an enemy facing us in this war, only despair itself'. >Storm Rider >Orbital mech troopers hailing from Space Colony 313, an asteroid mining outpost which famously led the other colonies in a secession attempt from the Earth, declaring that the first nation of the space frontier had been born. >Its romantic fascination, as well as the great wealth of resources extracted from the STORM-313 asteroid by zero-G exoskeletons, had helped the small colony gather a vast fellowship of skilled and technically minded adventurers. In the tumultuous days that followed the declaration of independence, those colonists would go on to earn themselves a fame as legendary mech pilots, pioneering daring zero-G maneuvers as their trademark 'orbital drop incursion'. >Even though years have passed since the EDF brought an end to the war, the Storm Riders still hold a cocky and prideful attitude toward their old arch rivals, the Grim Reapers. After the tragic arrival of the Primers, Colony 313 still plays a determinant role in disrupting the enemy forces that enter the Earth's orbit and encircle our planet. >Some say that the old separatist sentiment has flared back up, now that the squadrons of mechs are once again launching from STORM-313. More than one radio operator who tried to contact the site of an orbital incursion, has instead caught an unauthorized broadcast playing the old battle hymn of the frontier. 'Look at the sky and rejoice, those who kneel; for the angels of freedom fly, on wings of steel'.

>>1078801 Oh, well I hope you enjoy it.
>>1072150 I've been swamped for over a month trying to make the mod work online. Simply put, running complex code within the mission just begs for desyncs. Anyway I'm done now, I just want to run a brief check on all missions and the new classes will be out.

The need to manually sync the data between host and client through mission scripting is simply inconceivable: if Doom had something like this, its modding scene would have lasted 15 minutes. Player movement is transmitted normally as in a normal good christian game, while already enemy movement isn't (enemies are in different positions for all players) and scripts are entirely at the mission level so any lag can break the sequence of events. Incredible.
bump
I bring c4 in spite of the fact it makes us teamwipe 9/10 times for the badass factor when it works that 1/10th time.

Are people still playing, or it mostly dead? I haven't played the game in months.
>>1107293 There will always be someone playing online, but it's still a niche game. If you're bored, try some mods.
>>1118551 Yeah, some of the mods look pretty neat, especially the new classes. I'll give them a try when I get time.
>>1031472 >EDF mods.webm KINOOOO any animes with batshit style of huge battles like this? Not just big scale, but zany scale
Suppose the game was more "realistic", in the sense that a rifle can't kill a giant insect in 20 shots. What would be the rationale behind it? Making all enemies have 100X health? 10X health? Notice there's also smaller enemies (tadpoles) and robotic enemies (ufos), and both (excavators). I reckon smaller enemies shouldn't have the full bonus, while robotic ones have more. Also, would you differentiate between standard weapons being 100X less effective (i.e. a shotgun), while explosive weapons are only 10X less effective (rockets)? What about energy weapons (3X? 5X?). What about player classes: would players be as resistant to damage from giant monsters? Should they be obliterated instead? How would you do that, lower their armor? 10X, 100X? Should a Wing Diver and a Fencer be nerfed equally, in that sense?
>>1121127 I guess the issue is that anime favors mobile suits over footsoldiers, mostly in space. So you would have to find shows about smaller mechs, like the Starship Troopers ova. I think they're making a series of All You Need is Kill, which the Edge of Tomorrow movie comes from.
I think for every EDF I've played, I've always started with the ranger and then swapped out to fencer. Air Raider is cool but a bit too hands off for my liking, and I'm not gay enough for Wing Diver.

The madman strikes again, now he wants stronger cosmonauts. I modified their weapons so that each and every one of them can solo a player, if left unchecked and not focused or disarmed. >Dark Cosmonauts addon https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ACuj3D-MvB2BdnwYy_Kv-caoYyMtT_c7/view?usp=sharing

>Gold Colonists addon >Colonists are replaced by a stronger variant, the Gold Colonists. In turn, Armored Colonists become Dark Colonists, while Forsaken Colonists become Toxic Colonists. >This addon can also be installed standalone. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Aly0NNjewONG6OVu6KEqYl3IUgZgLMAp/view?usp=sharing
