Gachashit Ghetto - Mobage Galore Anonymous 11/04/2024 (Mon) 06:31:56 Id: 40b83d No. 1034975
Aka be glad (((Tel Aviv))) only knows how to make Raid: Shadow Legends edition. Given how many anons here play these titles and request an area to discuss them beyond Blue Archive >>1034800, given how many JP devs have fled to mobile as some of their more senile contemporaries chase the dead ESG gold rush, given how the bishoujo market is concentrated in mobage, and given how many players have actually banded together and organized to repel and BTFO globohomo as of late, I think a mini >>>/vmg/ is warranted. As OP I however get to christen it a "ghetto" until somebody else takes over the succeeding OPs. Do note that all discussion related to the technological and industry dynamic shifts these live services (yes they are live services) propose as well as topics directly pertaining to their cross-platform nature (i.e talking about how Aether Gazer is available on both PC and mobile or the number of gacha games on Steam) should be directed to this thread instead >>986877 If you want to discuss, say, how Lies of P and Brown Dust 2 were both developed by Neowiz, or how neato Versus and Relink are as part of Cygames' Granblue Fantasy IP, do it over there. You can talk about Action Taimanin's 4th anniversary, you can't talk about how well it runs on PC here. Non-gacha MMOs should also be directed to the existing MMO thread >>897003 Post memes, post updates to your chosen main gacha, post liveblogs of your playthroughs, post artdumps, post collabs, post obscure JP and about-to-EOS gachas, post about how the fuck match-three RPGs are still on the market, post about Senran Kagura New Link and Dead or Alive: Penis Vacation, complain about drama and monetization and mixed toilet games and girls trying to push their otome bishie gachas, just make your contributions high effort and high quality and try to max out 8chan's 5-file 50MB upload limit. You are allowed to be horny about certain characters, but your posts about them must be substantive (no >>>/vb/ template posting, for example). <geez, are you smug's owner No, I care about digital hygiene and board nettiquette. NEWS AT A GLANCE Going to try to hash out a format since this is very new for 8/v/. >GFL2, the successor to many anons' favorite gacha circa 2017, is set to come to Global this fall with a closed beta test and prereg being held. (Read: they need that gweilo piggu money.) Luckily, they are cranking up that fanservice, of which I won't post yet because this OP needs to cover multiple titles. >Unluckily, the CN state censor department has randomly struck a bunch of gachas with notices to sharpie over their character designs, the most notable of which was Snowbreak, enrager of BPD harpies everywhere, and Path to Nowhere. For the time being, Snowbreak has elected to use the localization toggle as a way to technically comply with said censor wave while still giving its playerbase what it wants; its future is still uncertain though as the devs continue to give Winnie the Pooh the finger. It seems like more and more that CN devs need to move off West Taiwan's mainland if they are to realize their creative and financial ambitions. >In general, the global economic downturn has meant that the gacha market has slowly been contracting on mobile. PC, however, seems to be booming as devs find that players are willing to open their wallets without having to pay Apple and Gulag the provider tax. >Arknights and Nikke are holding their 5.5 and 2nd anniversaries respectively, with both of them making big stinks about how they have new anime projects in the pipeline, never mind how all people remember from Blue Archive airing is Iori's toes getting sucked. >Azur Promilia has started receiving age ratings in Taiwan. >Mihomo has rebranded its Harvest Moon knockoff project from Asteweave Heaven to Petit Planet. >Uma Musume is gearing up for a global release. When? Not clear. This is for umaanon though. >Infinity Nikki is making waves as a big open world gacha that Soyny is banking on to get some crumbs after chasing off every Asian third party in existence. >Persona X, the one with the hag, has been spotted on Steam's database as coming to Global on PC. >Atelier Resleriana seems to want to apologize for Koei Tecmo's egregious globohomo censorship by parading the cast out for the obligatory summer event with bikini and swimsuit costumes. Unfortunately, it doesn't undo the fact that policore safety shorts are being slapped everywhere faster than pedophiles can slap children's asses. >Tribe Nine is a thing. Came and went on Steam Next Fest. >Dead or Alive: Penis Vacation is pushing out Prism onto consoles, but the original gacha still exists in its glory. >I'm going to go out on a limb and start editorializing, because Netease has the unenviable task of trying to sell Destiny Rising to the gacha demographic and it is hilarious. Yes, I'm sure pronouns are going to help it compete with big titty anime girls. --- ///I would put resources to combat gaming and gambling addiction here...if I HAD ANY\\\ Play responsibly and don't pay any money, how about that. Should be the norm but we have an awful lot of newfags here on the younger side who have yet to benefit from elders' experience.
>>1039648 I decided to look through the wayback machine, and as far as I can see the oldest GBF thread was made on the 30th of October 2016, so two years after it's release, but it also means we had gacha threads for most of 8chan's history, at least on the /v/ board, as there might have been an older /gacha/ or /gbf/ board that I am unaware of. https://web.archive.org/web/20161031204313/http://8ch.net/v/res/11111952.html I simply searched the /v/ catalog using wayback machine, until I found the first occurrence of it. https://web.archive.org/web/20160701000000*/http://8ch.net/v/catalog.html Have fun going on nostalgia lane
>>1039647 >>1039648 >>1039650 Oh that was back in the 4chan days. So even longer than that. I find it sad that gacha has become normalized within the gaming sphere, especially given the fact that most of the genre preys on younger men.
>>1039665 >I find it sad that gacha has become normalized within the gaming sphere, especially given the fact that most of the genre preys on younger men. Fair enough, even though I engage with mobage, I never recommend it to other people, nor do I spend money on it. >So even longer than that I am not saying there wasn't a period of time on 4chan when such threads got deleted, but how long was that phase? We would have to discard the years when gatcha didn't really exist, and for that we would have to determine the first mobage, which is a bit hard. Do we consider Yu-Ghi-Oh gacha, and by extension a lot of video games gacha, or does it get a pass because you own the cards? If not, then it has to be a bit more than just "game has lootbox, ergo it's gacha". Googling for the history of gacha, I got this article https://archive.ph/9kpED that claims Dragon Collection was the first mobile gacha, but it was Japan exclusive, and I doubt most /v/irgins even knew about it, maybe some /jp/ autists. Rage of Bahamut(precursor to Granblue) got English language support in 2012, so that means we had almost 4 years of no-gacha threads versus 8 years of gacha threads, and this is just me taking you on your word that there were no gacha threads on 4/v/ or 4/vg/ because I wasn't interested in those types of games, so I would overlook such threads. At this point in time, you are way too late to complain about such things in the gacha thread, it's almost like a Hillary supported going to a Trump rally in 2024 lamenting that Hillary lost and Trump won, get over it and ignore such threads. Oh, and if you want to say that Maple Story had gacha elements introduced in it before Dragon Collection, and that makes it the "first" online video game gacha, then were Mapple Story threads allowed on /v/ or /vg/ or were they banned? I wasn't much into that game, so again, I wouldn't know if there were threads or not, but I wouldn't be surprised if threads were allowed, despite it having gacha elements.
No one talking about Capcom announcing a monster hunter themed genshin clone gacha?
>>1039809 Because it’s boring
Genshin Impact just launched on the Xbox Series X/S. The X version is equal to the PS5 version running at 4K 60 FPS, while the S version runs at 1080p 60 FPS. The installation size is around 102 GB.
>>1041694 genshit will impact your credit card
Would "The first descendant" be considered gachashit?
>>1047044 Do you roll 50000 times for your characters/weapons or grind 50000 hours?
>>1047047 why not both?
>>1047047 I don't think you roll anything, you have 10 million cosmetics that you can buy without gambling. You can unlock some of them by playing 5000 hours though. I played 6.5 hours and had to drop it. I liked the sexy korean women but the game doesn't have anything more.

>>1047044 No, Patrick, The First Descendant is not gachashit.

>>1047054 So what do you call those games? >>1047059 Not really. The game had sexy women and recently added jiggle physics (and the game is free to play) so i had to try it.
>>1047064 not really? you half asian or mild yellow fever?
>>1047084 What the fuck is this? I'm not asian i wrote "not really" because i kinda like asians, but it's not like i have yellow fever.

>>1047064 >So what do you call those games? Live service
>>1047179 No. I would have played but then you had to cuckchan post. Anyways, it's been a month, so let's go with updating the ledger on whatever the fuck goes on in the gacha ghetto, since there's a smorgasbord spike of news. >Snowbreak has recovered from the big controversy and has had a spike of new users who tried the game out after the wildfire spread. New story came out, was alright. Qingying got banished to the Shadow Realm and replaced with a new twintail Bubu. The game also now has its own merch store, although it's incredibly ramshackle. Still, cheap at the moment. https://shop264519194.taobao.com/ >Outerplane had its 1.5th anniversary event. >Epic 7 devs Smilegate put out a trailer for their new game Chaos Zero Nightmare. Epic 7 itself is now available on PC and should be moved to the appropriate thread if people actually play it. >Destiny Child, SHIFTUP's old EOS gacha, is getting a new idle game. >Azur Lane is holding a collab event with Asayoru Maid Café. >Some game called Ash Echoes came out. It's alright. So is Starseed: Asnia Trigger. >Genshit had 5.2 come out. HSR had 2.7. >Some game called Artery Gear: Fusion EOSed. Was too late to jump on the mecha musume trend that has shriveled up. Multicolored hair urban protagonists are the hot thing right now. >Wizardry Variants Daphne is very interesting as it's basically a new Wizardry game with a gacha mechanic tacked on. Actually give it a try. >Scarlet Tide: ZeroERA starts gearing up its marketing campaign as this place loves shotas or so I'm told. >Heavens Burns Red has launched globally. Give the dude who thinks he's an OL some money or something. Or don't. >Seven Deadly Sins is getting an open world gacha.'' >Langrisser AKA butchering good art is having a collab with Captain Commando. >Mahjong Soul is having a collab with THE IDOLM@STER SHINY COLORS. >GFL2 has >>1047130 globally launched, as evidenced by the thread and this post >>1047039 GFL1 has shut down in CN because of publisher contracts. >Eversoul is collabing with Date a Live. >Limbus Company, the gacha from the GoTM is having a future collab with Arknights. >Octopath Traveler: Champion of the Continent has transferred service to Netease. Oh joy. Meanwhile, Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis had a FFVI event. >TRIBE NINE has begun preregistrations. >Honkai Impact 3rd has a Honkai Star Rail event going on right now. >Studiobside which normally puts out Counter: side updates has announced a new game Star Savior. >Another Eden is collabing with Atelier Ryza. >Infinity Nikki launched, as everybody can tell. >Iron Maiden had a gacha apparently, and it EOSed. >Elder Scroll Legends is EOSing, good riddance Bethesdrones. >Some big IP in CN called Under One Person: The Outcast is getting a very high production value gacha from Tencent. >Brave Nine, Brown Dust 2's predecessor, EOSed but now has an offline version that you can play. On another note, Brown Dust 2 is going to bust your nuts with its 1.5 anniversary. >And last but not least, Netease has announced ANANTA which has captured the normalfags' attention by how it looks better than GTA VI at first glance.

Any FGO players here? The stream last night revealed the Christmas event details. We get SANTA ABIGAIL! Which is a huge fucking win for lolifags and Abbyfags especially. In an unprecedented move, her NP features her dancing with Guda. His first appearance in an NP the entire game. She is a welfare. The 5* servant is Louhi, some kind of Finnish/Norwegian goddess, I guess. Not much known about her, maybe her kit will be useful? She is a non-limited, so you might be safe saving your quartz for the NY servant.

Sign-ups for Arknights: Endfield beta test are up now. A new trailer and gameplay demo video got released 3 days ago. Everything got overhauled from graphics to gameplay. Even character bios got updated: For example Rhodes Island operators are no longer clones of original characters. Also Surtr and Aurora return from Arknights, now called Laevatain and Snowshine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfwGJH-etgk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbMmSdOJ1Ho
stellasora.global https://yewtu.be/watch?v=rs40AGfEv60&autoplay=0 Another Yostar game got announced Yostar is a Hong Kong game development company, responsible for Blue Archive. Seems like they're releasing this globally by themselves (produced and developed) Gameplay seems like a 3D roguelike + hack and slash hybrid. There isn't much in the way of details regarding how the game plays, though. Not terribly interested in the few characters they've shown off thus far. At least that shitty Blue Archive offshoot which died a week after being announced had some good designs to show off. This one doesn't seem to be doing enough to reel people in unless the gameplay is fantastic, but I doubt that. I had similar issues with GFL2. If you want to register for it, go ahead. Let us know how the game is when it releases.
>>1052314 >responsible for Blue Archive To be more precise, they are responsible with distributing Blue Archive in Japan. The game is made by Nexon(Korean company), and distributed by Nexon to all the other regions.
