Microsoft Xbox officially becomes a third party publisher Anonymous 01/30/2025 (Thu) 19:24:32 Id: fb0783 No. 1066478
The absolute fucking state of Xbox I'm glad though, fuck them for all the harm they've done, hopefully their influence on the industry keeps diminishing. https://archive.is/TBgFm
>>1066719 So was King K Rool, yet that didn't stop him from getting an invite.
>>1066720 Hell, him, Chrom, Link, Samus, and Captain Falcon co-exist in Ultimate with their Mii outfits.
>>1066516 >>1066551 >>1066554 The floor is XBox.
This is good news /v/bros I can't wait for the year of the linux desktop
>>1066709 >Hundreds of games were broken when GameSpy and Heat.net went down, Oh, well I guess that's just fine then, keep on buying games with hooks into proprietary services that are going to shut down and break functionality or the entire game forever. Totally doesn't negate my point at all. >>1066597 >Could you post some webms of these vids? There's nothing particularly noteworthy that'd be worth the bandwidth that I've seen. You could probably find some gold on the channels of some shitheels like CrapGamerReviews or Rand-Al-Thor, but even the more independent Jewtubers seem to be in this juxtaposition of Xbox going third party and thinking that it somehow gives Microsoft the upper hand in the console wars because... reasons, I guess.
>>1066709 Isn't Openspy replacing the functionality for Gamespy?
>>1066709 >other companies also break the law, so it's fine that this one does! Shoot yourself.

And retards and microshit copers will still do immense mental gymnastics to claim that exclusives aren't the thing that sells consoles and it's ackshually muh ecosystem and muh ease of use. It just so happens the one console that doesn't even have exclusives between consoles anymore is selling the worst.
>>1066478 Don't care, release Horizon 1 and 2, and Motorsport 2 to 4, and i'll start to care
>>1068136 What about PGR?
>>1068156 Project Gotham racing? Wasn't that a Dreamcast game?
>>1068177 Yes and no. Metroplis Street Racer was the title released on the Dreamcast. The first PGR was an expanded "port" of that with a title change (Transitioning from Sega to M$), a new city (NYC), a different soundtrack, and more cars.
>>1066631 >What where the other issues with it? From a quick search >Games for Windows [Live] . It's like Steam, and mostly works just as well... except for installation. To install a game, you have to have enough room to store three entire copies of that game on your hard drive >One for the installation archive, one for the extracted archive, and one for the actual installed copy; it does not delete these things between steps, only at the end >Also, while Steam will automatically update your games for you so that you never have to worry about not having your game up to date, Games for Windows Live will only tell you it needs to update when you actually try to play them. You know, the exact moment when you don't want to wait several minutes for your game to be ready. >Another terrible aspect of GFWL is that it a lot of games using it have their savegames locked down in a way that makes you essentially lose them every time you reinstall a game or try to transfer your progress to another system. Again this compares unfavorably to Steam, which either just keeps out of the way of screwing with save-files in the first place, or, with Steam Cloud, outright embraces transferring them to different systems or installations.
>>1068188 >>Also, while Steam will automatically update your games for you so that you never have to worry about not having your game up to date, Games for Windows Live will only tell you it needs to update when you actually try to play them. You know, the exact moment when you don't want to wait several minutes for your game to be ready. Hasn't there been more often than not instances where people DON'T want games auto-matically updated to the latest versions because of developers making the experience worse for the customer such as removing content, rebalancing the game, and occasions of them outright breaking it?
More fuckups of GFWL I found >[in Halo 1 for PC m]any keys couldn't be bound to commands because they were pre-reserved by Games For Windows Live functionality (almost a big "screw you" to all non-WASD keymap users) >the game carries an infamous bug where Games for Windows Live informs the player that a patch is available and is mandatory for online gameplay (even if the game itself is already up to date). Every time without fail, should the player accept the patch download, the game's framerate is reduced to a crawl (in the MAIN MENU, mind you) and eventually freezes >A lot of people have been having problems with GFWL in a number of games, it doesn't take long to find out what these problems are, and usually it boils down to trying to figure out a workaround just to get the service working properly. The most common solution has been to simply reformat the hard drive or reinstall the OS. Although, that's not a very convenient solution. >Oftentimes the service is known for crashing, and what's worse it's known for crashing while updating, which can cause many gamers to lose save files or profile progress for GFWL games >The other issue is that GFWL is a DRM-style authenticator for anyone who wants to play online. Even if you register your game with a serial key you'll have to re-input the key to play online >The procedure is so asinine that it led me to test this out for myself, and sure enough if you crash GFWL (which is easy enough by simply disconnecting while it updates) the entire thing crashes from then on and won't update properly even if you do a clean uninstall and then a reinstall. >it's so disjointed. Deep trees makes sense for consoles, where every choice currently on screen is another that has to be scrolled through, but on PC going through three menu levels (with transitions!) just to invite a friend to a private VoIP chat is ridiculous. Plus the out-of-game client (which doesn't even like to announce its existence, it just kind of hides in a GFWL folder in Program Files) doesn't even let you manage friends! Right now all it seems to be is some sort of advertising vehicle/achievement viewer. >There was one instance when Batman: AA would not update automatically therefore not letting me play the damn game. I had to eventually find the patch on my own and install it. >>1068191 GWL didn't let you play without updating, making for the worst of both worlds
>>1068191 >>1068195 From what I understand Capcom can't (or won't) sell any copies of Street fighter cross Tekken because the games for Windows live drm crap braking it. And they haven't bothered to give 50 Grand to a team of developers to strip it out. And make it a regular steam/gog game. Sucks because there was some pretty good mods for it, and I liked the tag team style combat... It's too bad we couldn't get all of the missing characters from Cross Tekken into a real "ultra ultimate" version of Street fighter 4.
Microsoft: Concord-Marketing Director for Halo https://archive.ph/zjuCg >The former Director of Marketing and Operations by Concord is now a senior product marketing manager for the Halo franchise. Last year Sony made a catastrophic crash landing with Concord. Practical nobody wanted to play the hero shooter from Firewalk Studios. The consequence was the attitude of the game shortly after the release, and the studio was also closed. >Pamela Piscitello was also among the employees who lost their jobs. She was at Firewalk for almost five years and most recently worked as a director of marketing and operations for Concord. She has had a new job at Microsoft since January. As she let in her LinkedIn profile, she has filled the position as a senior product marketing manager for Halo at Xbox. In a posting she wrote about two weeks ago: “I am pleased to tell you that I will take a new job as a senior product marketing manager for Halo at Xbox. First agenda item … more cat helmets. “ HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAA
>>1068199 And don't forget Lost Planet 2 That shit is borked and Capcom has topped selling it due to GFWL. >>1068398 Halo has it's own Sonic cycle now, it's hilarious except Sonic has been kind of able to get out of that due to Sega giving out the IP to more competent teams outside Sonic Team.

>>1068398 Microsoft has to be deliberately killing Halo.
>>1068413 No nepotism is just a closed loop of failing upwards.
>>1068413 Halo was always mediocre shit outside the first game. But Microsoft hasn't cared about what makes it tick with it's fanbase since Halo 4. They just wanted COD and that's exactly what they pushed for with Halo 4 and 5. And now they own COD so they give 0 fucks about Halo, even moreso that none of their shit is exclusive.

>>1068441 Halo 3 was gud though. Gravity Hammers and Energy Swords were great fun.
>>1068464 The campaign was somewhat shit, however. When I was younger, I played an amount of 1 (pirated, computer) and quite a bit of 2 (friend had an extra disc somehow). Never had a 360, so I couldn't play 3 until the MCC (pirated). Playing it decades later, for the first time, I thought to myself "Are they intentionally parodying Halo 1's hideous amount of backtracking, or are they just this bad at level and narrative design?" Never played multiplayer on any of them so I couldn't comment in that regard.

>>1068413 That was the idea for a while now. The KH-playing future troons & nerds who scoffed at the OG Xbox on 4chan and gaming forums for being 'too dudebro and masculine' and hated Halo because it was their highschool bully's favorite game are the ones now sabotaging and emasculating the franchise from within.
>>1068464 Halo 3 only had great visuals and scale In terms of gameplay it's still a worse Halo 1
>>1068566 Dudebros aren't masculine, they're insecure little faggots. This has always been the case
>>1068566 >nerds who scoffed at the OG Xbox on 4chan and gaming forums for being 'too dudebro and masculine' and hated Halo because it was their highschool bully's favorite game This revisionism, holy shit. Halo kiddies unable to get over being made fun of on /v/ nearly 20 years ago.
There's only been two Xbox exclusives that I have ever been interested in. One had a $200 controller and the other was Japan only and starred a cute twin tail, green haired loli. All of the others eventually got ported.
>>1068566 >people made fun of Xbox for being too masculine People did not make fun of Xbox, it was PS3 that got all the mockery that gen. They made fun of Halo and Cawadoody, and because their players were literal fuсking children. Look at the age of a dudebro FPS fan today, they're around 20-30. Rewind that back 15 to 20 years and they were kids, you were "scoffed at" because you were kids. The cringe fan music videos, the mountains of extremely popular unfunny machinima (I can't imagine an adult at the time watching Red vs Blue or Arby 'n' the Chief), the way you'd unironically say "TOTAL PWNAGE!! BRO I TEABAGGED THAT N00B EPICLY"; it was very obvious to the rest of gaming that you were still in school. The way you look at gen alpha playing Roblox and Fortnite is how people saw you. You weren't mocked because you were fucking "masculine".

>>1068589 >"TOTAL PWNAGE!! BRO I TEABAGGED THAT N00B EPICLY" Come on, sticky nuts on the Halo 3 teabagging was pretty funny.
>>1068595 I had more fun gibbing noobs and calling them a scrub than that gay shit.
>>1068595 anyone has that video of a woman who starts crying when she gets teabagged or surprise buttsecksed in some first person shooter?
>>1068601 You're thinking of MyGot users mocking some attention whore in CSGO.
