Anon's Bizarre Adventure AKA /v/ makes an RPG maker game - New people edition Anonymous 04/16/2025 (Wed) 16:43:21 Id: 7936db No. 1098234
Seeing that we have an influx of new users, I thought it is a good idea to bring back this project. (I copied an old OP by one of the anons so I hope they don't mind) For those that don't know, here’s how it works. Everyone is taking turns downloading the newest version of the game, making contributions before reuploading it for someone else to work on it. Only one person can actively work on it at a time. This is because if two people make overlapping changes to the database, scripts or switches, they will conflict resulting in one person having to redo all their work. Changes to the map and events can be copy-pasted from one version of a project to another so you’re free to work on new maps and new events if its not your turn and add them to the current version of the game once it is your turn. It should work like this. OP posts newest version of the map. The first person (Anon #1) to respond to OP stating that he’s going to work on it becomes the active game dev. Once Anon #1 finishes and re-uploads it, the first person to respond to him gets to work on it. So on and so forth. Additionally, whenever you re-upload a new version, reply to the anchor post, it’ll make things a lot easier. General Rules >Don’t mess with maps, events or anything else you didn’t make. Although, adding minor stuff like a connection between two areas or fixing bugs and typos is all fine. >If you’re ok with others editing your stuff, leave a note saying so. >You’re free to add characters and the like, to the inter-dimensional tavern. >You’re also free to make changes to game settings, unless its something we’ve agreed upon (we’ll probably do this via a poll) Current version of the game: v. 0591 https://mega.nz/file/itd1mCTJ#pgEQ3oQQWOgDCO_VLZGs8m1p_OQABjTj8tZ4YNobvlo If you have a new version please notify us so that we can add it in the next OP. RPG Maker VX ACE magnet: This one contains all the DLC 76UC6DG7 Sprites and stuff: Feel free to steal https://rpg-maker-artists.deviantart.com/gallery/25208345/RPG-Maker-Sprites You can also steal more shit from the XV Ace steam workshop using this http://steamworkshopdownloader.com/ Archive of Previous Thread: https://8kun.top/v/res/16890428.html (Threads here aren't archived) FAQ >How do I RPG Maker VX Ace? Here’s a good tutorial series if you want to learn how to use it. inb4 jewtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzqt1PzBxxQ&list=PLzevVXwTX9wipsdJnTsuzUoCLb9v5npat[Embed] >What about RPG Maker MV? We decided in the last thread that we’re using VX Ace. We’re not changing this again. Get it out of your head right now. If you made content in MV you’ll have to back port it to VX Ace. It sucks, but we’re not doing any more engine changes. >Why don't you fucks use version control? Like RPG Maker MV, we tried that and the project died. Nobody wanted to learn git. It can't be helped. Plus someone needs a (((premium))) account if we want the project to be private. >Are you guys affiliated with [PUT ANY OTHER /v/ PROJECT HERE] No, the group creating this game is not a stable dev group and is only comprised of random anons who get interested in the project enough to start developing is. >Add X to the Game! Suggestions are fine, but if you want something added to the game. DO IT YOURSELF. Its not that hard. >What should I add? Go nuts, add whatever the hell you like! (However, please keep in mind that if the filesize of this project gets too large it’ll become unruly to work with. So please be somewhat conservative when adding large music or .ogv files.) >Is OP a faggot? Yes. Forever and ever.
Bump
>>1098234 Bumpingg out of interest, this is the kind of stuff I used to love halfchan for before it went to shit. Is it possible to make a GitHub repository for RPGMaker? It'd probably be easier than potentially having 50 different versions of the game floating around
>>1099247 >Is it possible to make a GitHub repository for RPGMaker? It'd probably be easier than potentially having 50 different versions of the game floating around It's sad to see the mistakes of the past repeat itself, especially from retards who can't be bothered to read the OP like you.
>>1099267 >missed one line in the wall of text alright fuck you then i'd have been willing to put it in a private repository but if learning git is a hard ask it's dead on arrival anyway
Oh hey i remember trying to do one of these back when vx ace was free for a while, i wonder if anyone ever downloaded my map.
>>1099340 >alright fuck you then i'd have been willing to put it in a private repository but if learning git is a hard ask it's dead on arrival anyway No, it was making progress until retards like you came in the past and fucked everything up with your ideas. The reason the project switched engines (another "line in the OP") is because of VX Ace not playing nice with Git and Gitniggers pushing for it to be switched to MV, the engine it was initially made on and making good progress until then, was switched and a billion and one problems came with it and turned the project to vaporware. Fags like you killed the project and then say it never had a chance when it was doing fine until you retards showed up.
>>1099570 VX Ace was the engine it was initially made on*, bad comma placement
>>1098234 >Everyone is taking turns downloading the newest version of the game, making contributions before reuploading it for someone else to work on it. What? Please don't tell me you're using something like VX Ace or XP. >>What about RPG Maker MV? >We decided in the last thread that we’re using VX Ace. We’re not changing this again. Get it out of your head right now. If you made content in MV you’ll have to back port it to VX Ace. It sucks, but we’re not doing any more engine changes. So you're catering to retards? This has no future then. Why even bother. >Plus someone needs a (((premium))) account if we want the project to be private. You don't. Making private repos is completely free in all big Git hosts. Whatever the case, good luck.
>>1099596 We had arguments like that when I first started the project and it's been answered the same way: This was never supposed to be more than something fun to work on as a community. It was not supposed to be a serious game, just a shitposty thing to play around with. RPG Maker VX Ace was chosen because literally everyone on the board could easily pick it up.
Would i need to use the version of vx in the op or is current steam release fine. Cant remember if vx ace had any funky versioning issues.
>>1099887 It doesn't really have any funky version issues from what I know.

>tfw spent the entire day refreshing the old thread Good to know I'm still the most retarded person in the team. Anyway, do we know how many anons from good 'ol days are still around? I'm guessing OP is the still the original creator (Wasn't your nickname OGanon or something? Sorry that I forgot) and I know Happy-Parkanon is back. Anyone else?
>>1099980 Yeah, I'm the original creator, it's been a while.
>>1099997 >I'm afraid it has been nine years.
>>1099367 You talking about the Columbine map? It's in the game anon.
>>1100094 Nah this was its own thing, i made a post asking for terrible rpg ideas during one of the rpg maker giveaways and implemented as many of them as I could. I was able to do more then i expected but eventually i had to call it a day and just posted a dl link to the project.
>>1098234 you fucked up the magnet link

>>1100094 I like the idea of this project but i dont like what is currently in the project. You should post more screenshots of the game so wandering anons can be lured in by the quality writing and tone.
>>1113504 >so wandering anons can be lured in by the quality writing and tone.
>>1114156 Wait anon is a woman? Is there a gender bending scene in this mess?
>>1114215 There is a secondary anon that is based on that one big tittied office lady manga
>>1114215 You can find items to change Anon's portrait.
I'm interested but my only experience is with MV/MZ, I have a zip file of all the yanfly plugins and I've never touched Ruby before. Still, it shouldn't be too hard to pick up. I'll download the project and see what's up. I'll make another post here if I have some more changes. (I did read the OP and I see that people have been burned before with git and MV/MZ. Unfortunate but understandable)
>>1116574 better method would be having something like a rentry with links to each update instead of needing to rely on one guy to update a git repo
>>1116574 Oh wow I was expecting 4-5 maps at most but this project's pretty developed. There's 18 major locations in the game. That's honestly impressive for a current-year volunteer project developed by passing tarballs like in the 90s. I started playing a bit but I got stuck in Gondola Village (looks like I need a Gondola party member. Not sure how to get one).
>some people on 8chan get something impressive done while everyone on 4c argues if nintendo is underpowered or whatever yeah this makes sense
>>1117259 My god this one Mt Waifu area has so many submaps (By the way, I'm not actively working on this until I finish the game so if anyone wants to work on the game now, feel free)
>>1117756 /v/'s speciality has always been "VN made by a bunch of dudes with 0 experience"
>>1117259 >That's honestly impressive for a current-year volunteer project developed by passing tarballs like in the 90s. Anon... it's been in development for 9 years.
Previous thread btw >>1031572 It's not that old. Should it be merged into this one or just archived?
>>1099596 git killed the project. The moment git was introduced, it died. Unless you have 6-7 contributors doing something interesting with the MV branch, AND you have a hassle free retard proof guide to git (impossible), it will die a horrible death once again. It must stay on VX Ace. Or rather just not use Git. t. retard who pushed for it way back in the day. It was impressive how quickly it died after that. Stick to VX Ace. It's a pain in the ass but at least it'll work. Painful, but its retardproof.

I had the misfortune of replaying Happy Park S3 yesterday. Long story short I'm ashamed of myself, like when you are trying to sleep on your bed but suddenly all the embarrassing things you did in your childhood and adolescence rush to your brain. This week I will be working on S3 to make it playable with fixing all the switches, nerfs to enemy stats, dialogue changes, finishing janitor's quest and other side areas. I'm gonna remove that shitty maze joke on the elevator too. t. Parkanon Parkinson
>>1128717 He's gone woke...
>>1128796 >Implying I just think the excessive use of "nigger" loses its value after being repeated every 2 seconds. Gotta come up with alternative slangs or new words. I'm not creative enough to pull off stuff like pic related.
>>1128862 >I just think the excessive use of "nigger" loses its value after being repeated every 2 seconds Well, I mean, Anon's Bizarre Adeventure core value is inclusivity. So maybe it's a good thing that it lost it's value
>>1117259 >(looks like I need a Gondola party member. Not sure how to get one) To be honest the way to progress is extremelly esoteric and not straightforward at all seeing it is just a bunch of us slapping shit together randomly. I don't even remember how you get Gondola by this point. I know that you should get Teagan, Gondola and CIA as main party members but there are secondary party members on top of that.
>>1130199 Actually I think there is a cat that tells you what you do in the Interdimensional Tavern that I've put to make shit clearer but I have no idea if someone deleted it or not.
>>1117259 It's the gondola standing next to the water level exit.
Hey ParkAnon, where are the locations of the skeletons? Need to know for the merge.
>>1130700 There's an NPC in dev room with warps to each skeleton.
(47.32 KB 369x368 Th-thanks.jpg)

>>1131046 How is it going for you anon?
>>1134163 Pretty good. The merger's finished and now i'm looking back at level ideas i typed out three years ago--most of them don't hold up
>>1098234 Add these to the OP next time: >https://archive.org/details/anon-bizarre-adventure <Internet Archive old builds >https://archive.md/5TnwT <Previous thread Reminder to archive all threads. We lost a good number of threads when 8chan first died.
>>1099267 settle the fuck down autist
>>1143682 also needs the lagnet link from the last thread

Congratulations, you got yourself bumped. >>1134316 How's the update going?
>>1169587 Funny you say that because VERSION 0.60 IS OUT RIGHT NOW https://mega.nz/file/6BYXWQrJ#wCBg1LytdP5Bxa88s1jqjJ7yjinnlcOB1FUuEJlDfZA MAJOR CHANGES >New Menu Screen — Replaced the old, BORING VX Ace User Interface with something more reminiscent of an imageboard catalog screen. Lots of issues at the moment—that im too lazy to fix right now—but I think the pros outweigh the cons. >Upgraded Party Crystal — The map has been refurbished; with one new NPC and the Barkeep now being able to sell you cosmetic items >New Codec Call System — Instead of adding everything to a single, gigantic Common Event; I'd added in a script that adds back an old feature from previous RPGMakers: Event calling. Basically, every dialogue is an event from a map named 'Codec Call', making it much easier to edit any dialogue without having to scroll a thousand lines of dialogue. The common event is still used, but now it's just uses script calls — My explanation is really bad, but it should be easy to work out once you get in-game. >Merged with 0.59 MINOR CHANGES >Bug Fixes >Disabled the Main Menu script due to conflicts >The script menu is more readable + so much stuff that I've forgotten over the years Sorry if you encounter any game breaking bugs, I will be posting a much cleaner version next week after I've done a full debugging playthrough
