Surprisingly the boys were probably the most boring part of both games for me since they are pretty heavy plotge. The romance just feels tacked on like how they would throw in random hscenes in eroge. Both games have a lot of interesting twists and turns and have pretty satisfying conclusions. The first game took me 17 hours and the sequel was 30 so they are both pretty short if you're looking for interesting mystery otome plotge.
