It feels so good to know that there are still developers out there who make proper AAA games with originality, linearity, quality and an actual beginning and end rather than monetized live service open world skinner box dogshit.

I don't play games with black MCs.

Considering Tango's fate after making a linear AAA game for Microsoft (that was more successful than this one), these devs are gonna eat dirt pretty soon. I'll play it for 10 bucks but I heard the combat was underwhelming; not subbing to gamepass.
another game made for an audience which doesn’t exist
Yesterday I played for the first few hours, and so far it feels very much like a game whose gameplay is reminiscent of games from the early 2000s. The levels are very linear, with exactly one path, occasionally featuring a few short detours where secrets can be found. There is a lot of jumping and fighting, the latter of course taking place in small arenas against a manageable number of enemies. The skill-based sections are not very challenging so far; you probably have to make an effort to fail in any way. This probably sounds more negative than I actually feel, because I find such a clear, straightforward action platformer to be a real treat in times of huge, open worlds. Moreover, the game looks really nice and offers a great setting. The atmosphere of the southern, swampy America is captured wonderfully, and the English voice acting and beautiful soundtrack fit excellently with the visuals. Everything is colorful and imaginative, and the character design is very well done. This stop-motion style bothers me less than I expected; it rounds everything off nicely in my opinion and fits the quirky setting. The game is supposed to last around ten hours, and if there isn’t much more gameplay, that’s probably a good length before it starts to get boring. I’m definitely motivated to keep playing because of the setting and the characters

>>1144485 Yeah too bad the gameplay is rancid dogshit. I finished the entire thing because the presentation was so top tier but if you removed the combat, it would only improve the experience. At first glance you think, hey this isn't bad! is simple but fun! but that first hour is what you will be doing for 10 hours with very little changes. 1 weapon, the same 5 skills, most of the skill tree upgrades are raw damage boosts and you fight the same 5/6 enemies in the same arenas. The entire time I kept wishing this was a different genre. A movie or a show. They wasted a very cool universe in a shitty super shallow action game.

>>1144485 This is just one of those random mid-budget "serious" 3D platformers the PS2 got in the mid-late 00s with a good setting & music propping it up. If the platforming & combat weren't the most cookie-cutter bland examples of them imaginable it would be really special but it's a game you need to basically force yourself to play to see & hear the worthwhile parts. The difference between this and those PS2 games I mentioned is that this doesn't have 20 years for people to remember the levels and music and not how it plays.
Ah it's a shame so many anons don't seem to care for it and have valid criticism of it. I was intrigued by the trailer but it sounds pretty mid
>>1145156 Not even sam andreas?
>>1145883 >linear levels >early 2000s gameplay >has a giant catfish that talks in a louisiana accent sounds good to me. but it costs $40 bux dollars and i can emulate ps2 games for free
