>>827 Those made by Valve are one of the few memorable black characters, because they care enough to give them flaws and backstories that are more than generic tropes. Demoman is a no nonsense member of the team, but he's also drunk 90% of the time, has inexplicable connections to the occult and worst of all, he's Scottish. Every single bit of the character shines through both the model design and the voice lines and snippets of lore. Even Coach, as barebones as he is, to the point of not having even a NAME, can still have his moments where he shines through. Every part of him being a Louisiana black with obvious gluttony problems but still nimble enough to kick ass. Plus there's Louis, Rochelle and the Vances. All modern black characters come in only two flavors: perfect in every way so as to not piss off Twitter users, or white but colored black for no other reason than inclusivity points. They never feel like real people because they have no flaws or could not possibly exist in any capacity in their setting.

I'll never forgive gearbox for what they did to her in Borderlands 3. Took one of the most interesting characters I've seen in a western game. A rich cold bitch whose front of being said rich cold bitch slowly breaks over the game as she sees Jack descend into madness and villany, and realizes she's setting herself on a very similar path and sets herself against such, determined to never end up in his shoes and helping the Crimson Raiders from the shadows so as to not have her brother reject the help. She puts up a front of being uncaring but secretly cares deeply for her estranged brother and despite apology after apology gets rebuked, insulted, shamed, and belittled, yet keeps reaching out in hope of mending that bridge some day. What appears to be the tropey-est and most stereotypical character of the protags from the outside actually has the most depth and the most significant character arc. All while having an amazing design, great VA work, and amazing personality of a blusterer and a rich lady putting on airs, and having damn amazing gameplay and char building that I'd say is on par with 3's character trees. And then 3 goes and throws all that out and makes her a shitty shallow stereotype that completely contradicts her arc and character building AND writing from the final defense of sanctuary DLC in 2. It's fucking bullshit and my gal didn't deserve to get treated that dirty even if she's a damn nigger.

Borderlands was written by four people, none of whom went on to write for the series again. Borderlands 2 was written by one person who had both never written for a video game before and had no prior (or future) experience with the franchise. Borderlands 3 was written by three people, none of whom had worked on Borderlands before. This leads to a messy story where characters change personalities every entry.

Adam Hunter was unquestionably the best played character in Streets of Rage 1, and he was badass in Streets of Rage 4.

I used to think Knuckles was black, but the new tv show established that he's a jew now. Casuals think Shadow is black, but everyone knows that that hardcore emo-esque subculture is a white thing. But Sonic? Sonic is black. At least Classic Sonic is. And not just because he was voiced by Steve Urkel. A lot of the music in those old games was "black music." Michael Jackson in Sonic 3, rap in Sonic CD. Plus he cares way too much about his sneakers. Sonic is a real nigga.
