>tell us plainly!
I told you, and you believed not: the words that I speak in my Father's name, they bear witness of the truth. But you believe not, because ye are not of His sheep, as I say unto you. I can tell you; you certainly will not be saved by calling on the Lord in your hypocrisy and unbelief.
[Prophet Isaiah (7th century BC)]
Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Thus saith the Lord, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
God expects perfection if you want to get to heaven. Otherwise the only other way is through forgiveness, and for that; God expects much less for someone to be forgiven, only that they repent toward Him in earnest of heart. And that forgiveness is paid for by the blood of the sinless and innocent, which is why human sacrifice doesn't work, people are sinful, but animals do not know sin. For this reason God's perfect lamb the Lord Jesus Christ was sent, who knew no sin, so that all who believe on Him may be forgiven of all their sins and receive eternal life. Not by our righteousness; but hidden in Christ so that when God sees us He sees the cross and our sins paid for.
[Paul's letter to Titus (64 AD)]
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Without repentance, and that means to turn, how can you believe and call on the Lord to save. If you wish only to say you believe and have no salvation then do so. But salvation begins now, even by sanctification, God will lead us into His paths, we call on the Lord for the forgiveness of sins and the leading into His ways, all out of truth and not hypocrisy (which means in Greek: acting). Once we have receive the holy Spirit which is unanimous with the cleansing and elimination of all our past sins, then we have the love of God to desire to do good. There is no salvation without letting Jesus into your life, for you called upon Him. Yet, if you only want salvation without God, I will say to you, good luck, that is what Jesus and the Apostles warned about.
[Gospel according to Matthew (40/65 AD)]
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Notice what these people say, "look at all we've done!" That is exactly what the typical person around the world thinks they will do, tell God how great they are and why they deserve heaven. As for us, we only ask not for judgement and justice, but mercy. I am a sinner but Jesus died for me, and though I have not been a great disciple please have mercy on me.
[Book of Psalms (15th-5th century BC)]
Hear my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness. And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.
Hear rather what Paul, arguably the greatest lover of Jesus who ever lived and wrote 4% of the bible has to say before He left the present world.
[Paul's first letter to Timothy (63 AD)]
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Doesn't matter how great you are this is the end of the believers life. He only fought he in some ways didn't even win, just survived, until his head was cut off, but finished the race and kept the faith, didn't keep the law, I have never met anyone who has kept all of God's law in perfection, but he kept the faith against everything. Some don't, they leave and become an enemy whereas they were once a friend of God, the world overcomes people when they allow it to and live after the flesh and die. But we will reach the end of our life perfected in sanctification by God. I have only been following Christ for less than 3 years, and have fallen into all sorts of things and often not realised how far I'm drifting back into my old life as a weeb porn angry internet person or whatever, I know that I will make it and keep the faith, Jesus will be with me unto the end of the age, and all those also that want Him.
