Metaphor: ReFantazio thread Anonymous 10/17/2024 (Thu) 00:46:09 Id: 629415 No. 1028446
I'm the OP of the original thread and since the last thread got ruined by autism. I decided to make a new thread focusing on discussing the game and making OC. Since I'm one of the maybe three people on this whole board playing, I'll give my impressions and speculations. >This game was rushed in aspects >The game does have Romance but it's half assed in the weirdest ways >Localisation is ass >Bong VAs are tolerable but JP is always better >Game isn't sjw but pretty critical of all the character's respective ideologies >It's genuinely critical of the MC's idealism >He and the party accept that they've been naive at certain realties >The rival throne candidates's views are also pointed at being flawed having pros >Some more incorrect then others (The eat the rich beast girl is given a nasty wake up over her fantasy Marxism for one example) >Game is much more traditional JRPG meets SMT meets FF style job system meets modified Persona links >The tolerance virtue is a lot more nuanced then what twitter sjws or RW twitter grifters would tell you >Some of the Not social links are clearly romantic in nature but Atlus cut them >Speculate they wanted to test the waters by not fully adding it but not fully removing it either >Think they'll cave with a "Throne edition" that adds full on romance and other stuff that was cut >They cucked out on giving true changeable gear >You can change weapons and buy armour >But save for costume skins they don't change outward party appearance when you put on armour from a shop >Like XB2 you can chain combos with your party with the press turn system >PC version despite denuvo hasn't ran like ass on my five year old rig <I'm just as surprised as you anons >Strohl and the male party members are bros >Hulkenberg might be best girl due how much of a spergy dork she is Note there is a way to play the full game by hacking the demo, which I'll try looking for.

So who wins for ""soundtrack""? """Elden Ring DLC"""?: https://youtu.be/QnMnEWjSCSk Or """Metaphor"""? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQZa--r5FrU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsHLe9qaxuQ While I like Metaphor's a lot, I think Elden almost beats LotR let alone Metaphor's.

>>1040373 I think the leak clearly was bait because they definitely have so much room for additions and I think SotE opens the door to turning DLCs into more than mere expansions and more like something short of a sequel. So they'll bait with the leak and then force DRM with the inevitable additions. And I might struggle to resist it because I like this game too much.
>>1038613 On the one hand I don't mind the archetypes. On the other, I hate how persona relationship shenanigans locks you out of it a lot of the time and you're FORCED to play the main quest. What were they thinking? Now I cut my hours down in this game instead of mindless pointless grinding for OP shit early game. Don't they want people to do this now? It extends the game time significantly. It's not like Persona where you have Mementos and the relationship stuff is just padding really. Now if you don't talk to several people, you're forced to never get end game seeker/More's shit. That wasn't a problem in Persona, you could just ignore people you disliked. In Metaphor you're kinda FORCED to talk to people you dislike. Then again, that might be the point thematically.
>>1038577 >combat data for Fidelio and Rela Oh ffs Atlus. They're so much better than idoltrash and many of the other characters. >still no Brig Now that's just interesting. She's way too good to just be just a social link. Same with Blue Michael Jackson con artist.
>>1040300 too much ass.
>>1040535 Elden Ring.
Got this gifted to me and it's a pretty standard JRPG plot. This isn't really left leaning.
>>1044021 do irish have no ass?

>>1044132 No, they fear it.
>>1035527 >He's basically Devilman's Satan, why not go further and give the "what if Devilman aligned with Satan" scenario? Doesn't work anon, it's already been tried and you need futa-Satan to fuck herself for that to happen. >>1044154 Thanks for reminding me of that.
People are still trolling this thread over the ass?
>>1048799 What?
I want to fuck Catherina Finished the game. Full thoughts. >Archetype system is hit and miss. Adept/Elite archetypes needed to be straight upgrades in all regards. Not have losses. That was retarded. The Prince archetype is appropriately OP, though I was surprised how utterly OP the endgame Berserker archetype was. >MP management here is cancer. Endgame you have an archetype that lets you effectively gain shitloads of MP on dodge (outside of squad battles.) Just make MP recovery outside of battle progressively convenient as time goes on. Easily the worst part of the gameplay. Enjoy mindlessly grinding in the last area to get your MP back 4 times. I think I grinded more for MP in dungeons than any other metric (cash, mag) in the game. >Entire game revolves around 1 turning the enemy, that is when you build and grind correctly you can and will one shot every enemy in the game. Enemies can do the same, especially the final boss. Interesting idea. Enjoyed and hated it. >Time gimmick was done well here, though I wish there was more non-consequential story activities to do in that end stretch. Midgame it felt perfect. Royal virtues felt awkward, like they shoehorned in a stat to reward for doing activities. >Bond system was hit or miss. Some felt complete (e.g. Strohl) others did not (Gallica, Alonzo, Neuras, More, Maria, I think they were unsure what to do with Catherina.) Some characters felt significant enough to really warrant a bond. (Batlin, specifically.) Liked the system overall. Needed more, though. >Gear system also felt a bit incomplete. Not as much as other systems, but the Purification gimmick wasn't used much. Now plot. A lot to praise, a bit to complain about. >Presents a lot of social 'ideals' at the beginning, progressively tears them down or points holes in the logic. Takes awhile for the game to do the same for the Protag's ideals, but they settle for a pretty middle-of-the-road politics approach in the end there. >Concerns of being leftist. I'd say there is some milquetoast progressive things in here (mostly is fantasy racism and how to solve it) but the writers aren't retarded Californians. It doesn't fall into the trap of only making the ideology they agree with believable and 'good', though the ideology that wins crucially is the republic oligarchy. (Implication the Kingdom is on its way to becoming the UK of all things.) >Mixed about the final antagonist. Refreshingly straight forward with the final baddie. I expected someone else but they were remarkably consistent about Louis being the BBEG. Ending morals still boiled down to "I have friends and you don't!", to be expected as it IS Fantasy Persona. But its a bit more mature as it is really more of a "I'm willing to work together with people for an indeterminate future. You don't." Disappointed you couldn't get a "Overall Louis was right" manipulated ending, but whatever. Maybe in the Gallica Poses Erotically (Game of the Year) edition of the game. >Overall a decent fantasy underdog tale about some schmuck becoming king. Many likable characters. Straightforward antag. >>1035527 I wish they didn't turn his ass retarded at the end there. He was ultimately right about the problem (as Strohl points out) and the basic idea of a solution (as Strohl I think also points out, and you as the MC can also point out.) but fumbled the bag on what he was going to do about it. Definitely had "two sides of the same coin" vibes for the MC and Louis, which is probably why Louis's origin story was an Elda. If I had to put it into words, it felt like Louis was ultimately the Gnostic equivalent of the teenage edgy nihilist. Magla really did just make everything worse. As More points out.
>>1051795 I also felt the bonds both the platonic and especially the partial romance bonds felt incomplete. It feels like they were stuck in the persona mines for so long that they couldn't figure out what to do with bonds. If we get a "Royal" edition I genuinely hope they'll fix the MP and balancing issues. Also Atlus just add romances fully back in as this in-between is just awkward. Just have it like on any other fantasy RPG where you can opt in or out of romance. Make the royal virtues more fleshed out and less "just a stat dump". Let us truly change outfits/armor like other fantasy RPGs Atlus. >Sounds like they rushed the game Yes this game was clearly rushed after being in development hell for 8 years and you can tell by the missing features that should've been in the game already. A Royal edition will be filled with stuff that should've been day 1 all at full price in a year or two.
>>1048799 This thread is ass
>>1052533 I'm genuinely impressed.
>>1052533 More like this thread lacks ass
>>1052586 I come to rescue, I am the ass. You're ugly
>>1052533 >>1052575 >>1052586 >>1052602 I request more fae ass instead of autism
>>1052613 Fae's are underrepresented in fantasy. Elves hog all the spotlight in fantasy creatures when faes are more magical and easy to imagine hiding in real life
>>1051795 >>1051807 Is it true this game was rushed?
>>1056238 Definitely felt unfinished and rushed. Like, after the big fight when you return to the main city, theres a huge lore dump and you're dropped right into endgame. This is after going through about 4 sections of the map. Problem is that you feel like you've only gone halfway through the game until it springs "oh whoops its endgame now :^)" So many plot threads are quickly tied up just to end. Like, to put into numbers, you get about 5 months of days. Versus other games with the calendar system getting usually longer. Dev hell for 7 years too? Yeah, it probably got pushed in the last year of dev time or so for it to get the fuck out the door.
>>1056313 The election being six months when in all honesty, it should've been a year. Character arcs feeling rushed and the cut party members, some plot lines are cut way too short. Also I fully believe the reason why we have half way romances was because, they didn't have time to implement them properly. I, honestly think the actual dev time for this game was a year and a half tops.
>>1056316 I get the feeling Atlus doesn't have A/B teams working in tandem, just one team that has to make everything all the time. That would explain why the game feels so rushed. Because it was.
This game really fell under the radar didn't it? I keep hearing rumors that Atlus rushed this game out in two years and to the Anons who played it is this true?
>>1062831 It's no wonder. What do people discuss about single player games after some time has gone? The game is either abandoned or people talk about relationships and romance, rarely ideology (but also with some romance). The only way for a single player game discussion not to die requires a sizeable modding scene or maybe great replayability (4X games like Civ, Total War). There's no modding and no romance so the discussion naturally died off. Once Fatlus does the Super Plus Ultra Gay Niggers From Outer Space edition that contains 6 more months, cut romances and general changes, the discussion will be reignited again, especially if they are smart and give you an option to join and maybe romance Louis
>>1062831 Like I don't hate the game as it does shit a lot better then P5 in regards, but it's lacking in shit that P5 and SMT5 had. This game feels so incomplete that even braindead redditors took notice at it's rushed state. >>1062838 >Once Fatlus does the Super Plus Ultra Gay Niggers From Outer Space edition that contains 6 more months, cut romances and general changes, the discussion will be reignited again, especially if they are smart and give you an option to join and maybe romance Louis They not giving you a full year was mindbogglingly retarded, especially since it rushes a lot of plot points and bonds. Us also not getting people who really should've been party members like Brigitta, Catherina, Bardon or even Rella who could've been the surprise party member if certain requirements were, met was a waste. The cut down romances was Fatlus being fucking lazy or too pussy to commit to having it or not, Instead we have links/bonds with the female cast that feel incomplete since it was fucking obvious they were leading to romance. Since Fatlus is gonna re release this game, they might as well just complete the romances and next game they actually commit to no romance. Joining Louis end should've been an option from the start, but then again the game is rushed.
>>1062831 The game was in theory in development for eight years as Team Zero's last game was P5 vanilla and Re Fantasy was announced the next year. But if I were to guess this game was in development hell for years and had no idea what it was going to be. I would not be shocked at all if the game we have only spent 3-4 years in actual development. Perhaps they wanted something different and when it fell through they just made Persona again. You also can't convince me romance wasn't planned at some point. My bet is still on westerners being responsible for it's removal somehow.
>>1062920 >My bet is still on westerners being responsible for it's removal somehow. My theory was that some members of the team were hardcore SMT fags who wanted absolutely no romance, while the others were Persona-only fags who wanted romance with all the characters, so in order to avoid strife and disharmony in the office(something very important in Japan office culture), the management decided on something that would satisfy nobody and this is what we got.
>>1062920 >You also can't convince me romance wasn't planned at some point. My bet is still on westerners being responsible for it's removal somehow. Here's a few theories I have >Western pressure >Half of the team didn't want romance and the other half did so we got a shitty in-between that fucked up bonds with the females >They ran out of time but didn't want to admit they ran out of time so they lied about not wanting it >They wanted to test the waters to see how much fans cared for it <Japs bitched up a major storm about not being able to waifu Hulkenberg That's what I got.
>>1062922 I don't think any "hardcore smtfag" members of team zero existed after 10 years of working on Persona anon. They probably worked on, you know, smt.
I have managed to get everyone that mattered killed. How much more is there left? These time limits are killing me, and I still have that island dungeon leftover since I couldn't figure out when to do it. Is there enough time for everything?
>>1062984 Yes. If you manage MP well (so either spend an hour farming trash mobs with wizard/dancer/etc or use a cheat program to give you a full restore) you should be basically doing dungeons in 1-2 days. That usually leaves you 2-3 days per period of time to wrap shit up. But during the final stretch of the game you get a month basically to do that. And as it turns out a month is more than enough time to level a bunch of 3-6 bonds to max, do all dungeons, and get virtues to full. You might, like me, have a solid two weeks of nothing to do. Just don't waste time on virtues unless you're chasing a bond level and you'll be fine.
They really had no idea what to do with this game did they?
>>1062930 The thing is that even back in the day, the SMT devs would work on all sorts of spin-offs, like Majin Tensei and later Devil Survivor, the Raidou games or Maken X, a first person hack and slash, which the director of Metahor(Katsura Hashino) was also the director of, so it's not impossible for SMT devs to make non-SMT games. Maybe the director of the game, Katsura Hashino after working for over a decade on Persona 3,4 and 5 wanted something different that was closer to the older games he worked on like Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga, but his staff was composed of both SMT fags and Persona fags, and couldn't get the right balance. Of course this is 100% speculation on my part, I would have to find interviews, correctly translated in English, then do the same stuff for other key members of the team, which there is no guarantee they were that open with the public with what they did or how the work culture was like, to have a concrete answer.
