For the sake of argument I'm assuming there are direct adaptions of their stories and not films set in-universe.
>Mass Effect
They'd have to make a movie out of each game, so a trilogy. Could be a fun sci-fi romp. The real issue with this is how you'd get a LotR situation where the filmmakers would need remove and alter so much of the original stories to make them fit into a film trilogy.
Not my first pick, but it could work.
>BioShock
It'd need to be an experimental horror film to work, and I don't see how its political and philosophical themes would neatly fit into a 90 minute movie.
A faithful adaption of BioShock would not be a mainstream product, negating any chance of it being made. Then again, Iron Lung of all games is getting adapted into some kind of experiential horror film and I can completely see that working.
>Red Dead Redemption
Way too long, a film inspired by RDR could work but you're just making a western at that point.
>Half-Life
A famously obtuse narrative with a silent protagonist, of course.
I have no idea how this would work outside of some largely experimental visual action piece, like Hardcore Henry. That, or they'd have to focus on characters other than Gordon.
They've supposedly been making a Half-Life movie for like 15 years, don't expect it to ever happen.
>GTA
They're not clarifying which but I could see some games working as films, they'd need to specify which.
>Deus Ex
Not really, it's far too dense and dialogue heavy. I could see it as a comic or a novel, but not a film.
>Zelda
What? Another famously sparse narrative with a silent protagonist. Some entries are easier to adapt than others, but I wouldn't know how you'd do it outside of a classic 80s sword and sorcery type deal.
They actually are making a Zelda film, and I'm very curious to see what they do. I swear if it's more isekai live action slop..
>Elder Scrolls
Absolutely fucking not, are you kidding? Any CRPG would be extremely awkward to turn into a film, TES especially. There's so much in these games you'd have to strip it down to the main story, and the main story in TES games are famously not very interesting. Can most of you even remember what the ending to Skyrim was?
If we were talking about films set in the universe, this could absolutely work and would be an excellent candidate.
>Horizon
Don't actually know enough about this to comment, the big robots seem cool.
>StarCraft
????
>Mafia
Also don't know enough about it, I assume it could be a solid crime movie which is why they listed it. One of the only games here that seems obvious.
>Gothic
This one truly caught me off guard. Gothic's story is interesting but I can't see how it would adapt into a film, as I said with TES - CRPGs like this aren't easy to directly adapt.
4/10 mostly odd picks, not even particularly inspired.
